964 Register Display Eynsham Hall Event

Hello Dave,
I'm going to Eynsham as part of the R18 Special Display Team, (we're the ones who have to sort out where the cars are going on the day(s)). I've seen a large scale map of the area that has been allocated to what (the R/W/B, the historic, the technical displays but as yet I haven't seen how it has been split down, hopefully the final details will show exactly where each individual car needs to go (but that maybe hoping for too much!). I'll probably see Barry this weekend so I'll pick his brains as to what has been organised so far.
My car will be parked up close to the hotel for the weekend - that has already been arranged with the hotel. It isn't really good enough for a register display candidate (especially after having driven 200 miles plus down there on the Friday.
The details (or lack of) was in reply to an email I received from David Newton telling me that information was going to appear in July's PP which as you are aware didn't. How the hell does the club expect these events to be major successes financially if they don't inform people of what to expect at them.
Look forward to meeting you at Eynsham - just look for a good looking chap on crutches!![:)]
Cheers,

Received my ticket this morning................... So if yours are not with you within a few days, possibly a polite email to Angie at HQ may help.

Remember that you must pre-book and have a ticket and a Mirror Hanger before with can join the Register Display.
Also check with Dave that places are still available.

Best wishes,

Dave - any idea when the mirror hangers are going to be sent out for the register parking please? I've got my entrance ticket but no hanger as yet. Just trying to make sure everything is 'in place'.

Regards
Colin

Colin,

I've got my tickets too. As far as I'm aware, Head Office said they would be sending the hangers out nearer the time. They had said that the 31st July was the closing date for reservations so I'd guess soon after that. However, from the little bit of feedback that I've had, it doesn't sound like plans are going particularly fast so it wouldn't surprise me if it dragged in a little longer. Hang in there (!!) Colin.

Regards

Dave

Hi Dave,

May volunteer my car for the R/W/B display but have concerns/ panic attacks about where it will be parked, how I can access it and get out if need be, and about the public poking her and scratching her.

She's in good condition so wont let the boys down, and my fiance(e??) and I are going to stay for the whole weekend.

Dont recall if one of the other cars was a targa, so dont think you'll want a pair will you (or are things really desparate?). Havent booked my tickets yet but understand I have to state on the booking form that its for the RWB display- or shall I just get the tickets and you can sort the display?? Everyones right in that it is extremely confusing with the register display etc- why cant we park in model order rows like years ago instead of 13 separated and the rest jumbled up? Would've been simpler me thinks.

Wouldnt mind a register sticker if there's one going [:D]

Regards

Craig

Craig,

I think your car will be as safe in the R/W/B display as anywhere else - if not more so.

If you look back on page 2 of this thread there are the details I need about you and your car. You DO need to book your tickets with Head Office ASAP and tell them you want to be on the 964 R/W/B display although I'll make sure they know.

Regarding the moving issue - I beleive the display cars have to remain in place between 9 and 5 each day.

If all this is OK then get an e-mail off to me (details in the earlier message) and get your booking done with HO ASAP.

Regards (and thanks)

Dave

Fred,
I will be there on Sunday, so if you don't over sleep after the Black Tie Banquet of the night before :) I will look out for you..

There's still life in the old dog yet !!!!!!
Cheers,

Ken,
I won't be at the Black Tie Banquet, more like the grubby t shirt barbecue if I can find one in the camping area. (I may have to resort to having a disposable barbecue in the hotel room - 'smoke alarms r us'
Are there any 964 people that you know of camping at the event? If this weather we are having continues a tent maybe the best place to be rather than a hotel room with no ventilation.
Look forward to meeting you. just look out for a good looking bloke on crutches![:)]

Hi Dave,

Regret I'll only be able to display on the Sat as will have to leave early/ mid Sun afternoon.

Sorry to be a let down at short notice and hope we can get another car for Sun. Will send you personal details direct.

Incidently, got a shot of my car in Porsche Post at Cotswolds Rally, pg 71. Big up the 964;s!!

Cheers

Craig

Dave,

Any news on the R/W/B display hangers as read the postings and thought they were being sent out 2 weeks before at the latest. Also did we manage to get a white 964 for Sun??

Regards

Craig

Craig,
Things maybe a lottle slow (that is between 'little' and 'lot') so expect a delay.
Hopefully, the display parking will be arranged so that people can get out in an emergency. If you are in any doubt contact Barry Smith (Slantnose register RS) and he is the one who has done the plan.
Cheers,

Craig,

AFAIK the hangers are being sent out this week. Yes - I did get a white car for Sunday but still short of a blue one for that day.

Any definite news on the hangars for the 964 stand for next weekend Dave? I'm away for most of the week... quick pit stop back here on Thursday afternoon and then leaving early Friday for Eynsham. I'll be able to check email (I hope) during the week. Any clues as to what's happening?

Thanks!

I am glad that I am not the only one without a hanger aswel Colin !! If they dont come in time would it be better if the gate staff had our reg numbers so that they know that we are the ones for the display as we have to be there early dont we to get parked before the gates open.

Neil Eldred

Well, it's now Tuesday night and I've just returned from two days in Scotland and no hangers. I am driving to London tomorrow... back on Thursday and then off to Eynsham at around 5:00 a.m / 6:00a.m. Friday (nice to enjoy the M1 when there's so little traffic!)... so if the hangers don't arrive tomorrow or Thursday... what do we do then?
Any sensible suggestions are welcomed....

Read my post above Colin [;)]

Its the only suggestion I can think of for such short notice.

Neil Eldred

Neil,

I was told by Phil Clark that he had "relegated" you to the Register Display (instead of the R/W/B Display) since the powers that be had decided to give "preference" to those attending for both days!! You should have a "REG" hanger in the post. You can always check with Angie at Head Office.

Colin,

I was also told by Phil Clark that some of the people who had offered their cars had not purchased tickets. I have no idea if you were in that catagory but that is the only explanation I can think of. Again, a phone call to Angie at Head Office should clarify it.

If all else fails it seems that there may be a fail safe plan. On arrival at the entrance to Eynsham you should ask!! There seems a chance that there will be some "on the fly" arrangements possible - as long as you get there early enough. It will, apparently, be "difficult" to move cars about once the event is open to the public.

If all else fails, give me a call on my mobile on 07802 717649. Hope to see you there.

Regards

Dave

Thanks for letting me know Dave as I havent heard a thing with regard to it. Well if thats his attitude he can shove the hangar up his arse as I am not interested. I will park with the masses in the general car park. I was going to book a hotel for the Friday night so I would be fairly close by and be there early but I will just set off from Hull when the mood takes me on Saturday morning.
I have my general ticket and will use that.

Neil
