964 Register Display Eynsham Hall Event

Hi... well - I have to say I completely understand Neil's stance. Communication doesn't seem to be one of the PCGB's strongest points does it - despite the Forum.

I don't know what to say about Angie's comments that the hangers were for people who had purchased tickets.I got my tickets for the whole weekend many weeks ago. It was (I believe) Angie who I spoke to when I ordered them. Whatever - I had them in my hands by the end of June and had ordered them several weeks before. So I'm not quite sure what else I could have done to be honest.

My son and I are attending for the whole weekend.... in fact I will be in the area on Friday lunchtime... traveling down from Newcastle to ensure that we were able to be there early on Saturday to get into the Register display..... (what time would be best to arrive to give us the best chance of making the display?)

I've spoken to Fred (who is going to be on the gate) and he has promised to try and get me to the right place - hanger or not.

I find it difficult to understand how such a simply thing can become so difficult to implement. Like Neil, there is a temptation for me to simply park with everyone else. A real pity that the good will of members seems to be regarded so lightly.(Not by you Dave I hasten to add!).

I've made a note of your mobile number Dave and will call you on Friday / Saturday. I'm off to London now and will be back late Thursday.

Colin/Neil,

I understand your frustration. Hopefully Fred will be able to sort you out on the gate. I'm guessing there will be people around from quite early on although I suspect there will be a rush around 9:00.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Regards

Dave

Thanks for the fast reply Dave!

Matthew and I will be at Eynsham from around 8:00 a.m. Is it OK for me to give you a call around 7:30 a.m.?

OK... must go... M1 beckons!

Colin,

You can call by all means. Since I live in Milton Keynes I'm only about an hour away from Eynsham - so at 7:30 I'll probably just be leaving home!!

I've got Jon Kent from Luxembourg bringing his latest 964 staying with me - anyone else from the Beds/Bucks area driving over on Saturday morning??

I'll be going the A421 Buckingham/M40/A34/Oxford route.

Regards

Dave

Thanks for letting me know Dave as I havent heard a thing with regard to it. Well if thats his attitude he can shove the hangar up his arse as I am not interested. I will park with the masses in the general car park. I was going to book a hotel for the Friday night so I would be fairly close by and be there early but I will just set off from Hull when the mood takes me on Saturday morning.
I have my general ticket and will use that.

Neil

Perfectly reasonable in the circumstances IMHO. I can't believe how such a simple task has been so badly managed.

Ian.

If you look at the GT3 forum. GT3's at Eynsham, a different story is being told........................
Perhaps "Our Fred" can enlighten us on this change of direction.

Cheers,

Ken,
Off the top of my head I can't remember the map as to where (if) the GT3 Register was being placed. Perhaps it is in Sideway's back garden roped off with bits of string that he hasn't managed to flog on ebay![:)]
As far as I can remember there is five 964s down, 30 993s.
Have any of the GT3 people received their hangers, do they say 'REG' or 'EVO' on them? If it is EVO then they have a central position.
Cheers,

I'm really confused now...

Finally received my hanger on Friday but it say Reg (for register?) and I thought I was the W in RWB display on Sat.

Does that mean that I too have been 'relegated' to register parking? If so it would have been nice to have been told after all the fannying around people do for arranging and volunteering for these things. Common courtesy as well as communication.

No wonder people get frustrated and cant be arsed.

Craig

Craig,

I only found out the other day too. As I mentioned before, Phil had given preference to cars which were there for both days and ignored my "recommendations". Unfortunately, we of the Register had no control whatsover despite the original appeals for us to garner support and get owners to offer cars. Despite my regular spreadsheets to the organisers most of what I had organised with an almost full complement, for the Saturday at least, has been decimated to leave 5 cars!!!

Fred Hindle will be on the gate (the guy with the crutch) and will help to swell the Register Display assuming the owners come with the enthusiasm to participate.

Regards

Dave

Hi Dave,

It's not a personal criticism, just bitterly disappointed in the way things have been communicated from head office and the ignoring of all the hard work and efforts of people like yourself, and not being in the display.[>:][]

Will still help swell the register if only for the Sat.(all I need now is to forget my tickets or reg hanger!!)

Thanks and see everyone at the weekend! Have a safe and enjoyable drive down (or up!)

Craig, I heartily agree with your sentiments.
The 964 Register is not the only register that are very disappointed at the way things are being run. Lets hope for the sake of our membership, that the 'Higher Powers that be' who planned this, by going over the heads of the Register Secretaries, will be proved correct and the show turns out to be a tremendous success.

Hello Dave,
At the moment there is only five (if I remember the plans correctly) spaces for 964s in the register area. I assume there will be three (each day) in the RWB area. I can see me getting asked to get some more cars in (the later it gets towards nine o'clock) to take the places of those who haven't turned up or refuse to wait and go into the general Porsche parking. I can see it being based on condition / cleanliness rather than model. I'm taking my 'van that goes like sh1t' rather than the 964 as I have a load of stuff to take down, I could always put it in the 964 area but I think people would question it.[:)][:)]
On the bright side the weather forecast is getting better so at least people can hover around the cars.
See you there.
Cheers,

Well, I've arrived near Eynsham after driving down from the North East this morning. Around 4 hours... roads were nice and clear... but then you'd expect that leaving at 4:30 a.m.!

Of course, no hangers had arrived before I left today... so tomorrow is 'pot luck' as to whether I get onto the register stand.... Fred and Dave have, of course, offered to do all they can to sort the whole thing out tomorrow.

I feel really sorry for Dave and Fred who have clearly put a lot of thought and effort into making the register stand an impressive area for the weekend but seem to have been thwarted by the 'powers that be'.... as it ever was eh?

Hope to see you all this weekend!

Hello Chaps,
I wasn't in the position I was expecting to be in. By the time cars got to me some had been filtered off to the porsche parking and parts of the register parking. So I didn't get to meet anyone upon their arrival.
A really busy weekend for me, (in fact a long weekend including Friday and Monday morning), but overall enjoyable. Did some things I'll probably never do again, getting that white 997 GT3 into position and taking it down again was fun. I don't know why we took so much care getting it down, it was going to be crushed on its return to Germany! At least I can say I sat in the driver's seat (no keys!!) of the pre production model.

Crushed? I would have been happy to have taken it off their hands for a small consideration....

I hope you all had a great time-I see that after my original post, nothing had really changed. But I believe as usual the usual 964 members came to the rescue. We had a very similar problem last year and I refused to move from the entrance until I was moved to the correct area. Its a big event, so it demands a rigourous coordinated effort with a quick decision making process and high levels of communication. Its about project Management, so it should follow those principles, being led by deliverables that adhere to strict timelines. PCGB has too often let the 964 owners down IMHO. It would be an idea if the PCGB had a festival for the owners and not for Porsche itself, hence the advent of TIPEC. I would appreciate having the opportunity of coming face to face with the culprits.

Sincerely

jeff
