964 Trackday 2011 (group booking) GREAT day out!

****PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DATE HAS CHANGED TO SUNDAY 24TH JULY****

Following on from the success we've had with the days at Curborough, I thought I would see if there is any interest in me organizing a group booking for a full trackday for us next year? The responses on this thread said that it IS a good idea so a day has been arranged. The details are:

Venue: Donington Park
Date: Sunday July 24th 2011
Organizer: BookaTrack
Price: £250 (Discounted rate available to all Porsche drivers)
Format: Open pitlane
Instruction: Available at time of booking
Limit: 60 cars

To book a place use this link which will take you to the BookaTrack website:

Trackday at Donington July 2010

Click on the link for the day at Donington on July 10th to book your place - you will be taken to the logon screen. If you've used BookaTrack before carry on booking. If you're new to them use the link on the right side of the page to register (you'll have to go to your own e-mail to confirm registration before going back to complete your booking).

You can book instruction while booking your place. There's no need to book a garage as we will be given a free garage for every two cars booked on.

Note that the discounted rate of arranged applies if you book and settle payment before the end of February. If you decide to settle payment later you might end up paying the normal rate of £295 or even lose your place.

Donington was chosen because of its central location, there being plenty of reasonable priced accomodation close by (e.g. a Premier Inn on the edge of the airport) and it's both a great circuit for 964s and is suitable for beginners.

I have been liasing with BookaTrack to try and make this day all Porsche if possible. Hence in addition to 964s I'll be inviting other Porsche owners to join us, hence the tag line on the booking link which says 'Porsche and Boxa.net'. The day is also listed on 911UK and the 964 Rennlist forum So, yes, if you're reading this as another Porsche owner, you're welcome to book [:)]

Why not indeed Steve.. Donni or Silverstone. Can recommend RMA form personal experience. Beginning of June to 15th June is prepping for, and going to Le Mans so wouldn't be able to make it then.

I've added you to the list guys. Yes, I'll do what I can to avoid date clashes with other Porsche events like Lemans and the 964RS events that are already organized (don't want to exclude those guys either [;)]). At this stage it's really about finding out whether there would be enough of us to take this further? [:)]

Steve, I could be interested, but hard to tell until calendars are out. Everyone is waiting for BTCC dates again I think.

Steve Please add me to the interested list..........I competed in a sprint in mine 3 weeks after buying it and it's not been on track since. Time to get that 'problem' addressed!

I liked the idea of Curborough because it is cheap & relatively safe as the speeds involved are fairly low and there is not much chance of damaging or wearing anything out too much. A full track day costing £200+ would certainly require trackday insurance and would involve quite a lot of consumable wear (brakes & tyres). Regrettably, I'm out on this as I'm not in a position to commit to the expense at the moment. Also my level of ability/confidence would make it even more embarressing than my display at Curborough...[&o]

Yes interested - trying to plan my own track day calendar at the moment. Donington is great and good for beginners - Colin you should definitely think about it as it is great fun and really not too expensive if you just go out to have fun. I have done days where I am the slowest but just pull to the right, let them through and be on your way - I am not a serious racer but enjoy track days a lot :) Ian

I'd love to go tbh, I just can't make any sort of commitment at this time. I need to see where I am nearer the date. atm Funds should really be reserved for sorting out the various rust issue I have....[8|]

Guys, especially Colin [;)], no commitment needed at the moment I'm just trying to get an idea if there is enough interest for me to go ahead an organize something. It already looks like there is plenty of interest and I know that we will be able to count on the support of quite a few of the RS boys once it's finalized (hence it won't clash with the RS day, PCF days or Abbeville RS fest). Once I find the right date (it could be anything between the end of April and October because as Hugh says the racing calender will be bigger at Donny this year), I'll speak with the TDO and organize the discount. Booking will then be done direct on the TDO's website using a discount code. I would anticipate having it all sorted by January. You either then book straight away or when you think you can commit. However, the longer you wait, the more you risk not being able to get on (it will be open to anyone to book) and the price usually goes up when there are limited places left. Oh...and Colin you can come along for passenger rides regardless, so we EXPECT you to be there either way [:)]

It's great to see so much interest [:)] and if Kevin is coming then that's good news for all of us as the sun always shines when he's on track [:D]
