991 Owners Cars

Hi All

Here's our new toy, a 2012 Carrera S cab in Basalt (black wheels, black leather, black everything!), PDK, Sports Chrono +, Bose and a few other bits and bobs. Third 911 but first cab for us and absolutely loving it, our very friendly local OPC lent us one for a few days last month and we got bitten by the bug. Just wish this wintry weather would do one so we can get out there and enjoy some top down motoring.

Look forward to meeting up with fellow 991ers at future events.

Welcome to the 991 Forum, both. We were out on a 991 drive a few weeks ago and nothing seemed to stop the soft top team from getting their tops down, so to speak.

Congratulations on your turbo you will love it, the more miles on the clock the better they get.

Mine has just topped 13k, and just gets quicker and quicker. 😨

Well guys.

I've just bought my first Porsche 911 Carrera S. I've loved these cars since my childhood and this car is just over two years old. I've made contact with my Porsche dealership in Leeds and the car is original spec in White with with FPSH

I hope to join as a full member very soon and get full access to the various topics and threads to enhance my ownership of this fantastic vehicle. There are a few bits i need to have done to bring it back to the condition i expect to keep it in and the first is a full detail by Marc at Heavenly Detailing who is travelling up from Kent next month to sort out the paint. Marc has worked for Miracle Detailing (Paul Dalton) on occasions and does a fantastic job. I will post up some pics when its done.

Great to be on board guys.

Regards

Mick

Hi Mick

Welcome and congratulations on your purchase. Make sure you look up Region 7 (R7) Yorkshire, we're a friendly bunch. We meet every first Wednesday of the month at the Woodlands Hotel, Gelderd Road, Gildersome, Leeds but the next meet on 1 June is at the Porsche Centre Leeds.

Look forward to meeting you.

Michael & Lisa

Thanks guys.

I may indeed pop along to the meet at the Porsche Centre in leeds on the 1st.

Thanks for the invite !

Regards

Mick

I'm not completely new to 911's having owned 964 C4 cab, 964 C2 cab and a 997 cab but this is my first 991. Just completed my first month of ownership in my YOM 2015 GTS pdk car. WOW what a beast! I love it! She sings a beautiful song, the noisy button is always on! The PDK box is amazing, no need to use the flappy paddles as the box is so good its always ready for me. I accidentally took her on a track day (I just went to look!), what can I say - the BEST fun. Im used to taking my race prepped Elise around the track, think its now going to spend even more time in the garage!

I would like to try and get a copy of the spec when the car was sold from new, emailed OPC Cambridge but no response, any ideas?

Thanks

Joe

That's a very impressive spec - or did you just upload the photo incorrectly?[:D] You might like to edit that!

After years of begging for a short drive in my friends Porsche's, I picked up my own 3 days ago. I still have the weird feeling of "am I dreaming?". This in combination with a huge grin on my face every time I took her for a drive worries my wife.....I get over it I assume. Maybe a Porsche is even nicer when you saved up and planned it for years...

I wonder how long it takes before I trade her in for a GTS, 4S or even a Turbo. Till then I am very pleased and enjoy the moments with her.

Looks really nice in that colour. If you are enjoying driving it half as much as i am mine then you're onto a winner. I absolutely love the 911 (991). Always wanted one and now i have finally got one.

Yes Peter, I would say worth the wait. It's a fabulous car. They just get better and better in my opinion. As of today, the odometer shows 200 miles so the car and I are still very much in the process of getting used to each other I would say. Highlights for me so far:-

[ul][*]I was was worried about the lack of "snarl" in the new, smaller, turboed engine. I needn't have been. Yes it's different but it still sounds great, especially with the Sports Exhaust on and/or in Sport Mode. And I rather like the slight whoosh when the turbos kick in too.[*]The engine seems somehow livelier than in the Gen1. It definitely feels a little faster, and with the rear wheel steering you can really throw it about. It's seriously fun to drive. Did I make the right decision getting a manual after 2 PDKs? Jury is out- I hope so!! [8|][8|][*]The electrics and gizmos are fab; DAB, Apple Car Play, Google Maps, rear view camera, the hold function on hills (even though it is a manual - very clever). There's more I just can't think of them all right now [*]The sports multifunction steering wheel is great. I need to stop turning the heating switch on by mistake though[*]I didn't realise the fancy (and expensive) bucket seats would be so awkward to get out of (it's an age thing, I guess). Still it'll encourage me to stay fit and trim [:)]. Great to sit in though![/ul]Phil has got me sorted for a 991 Register space on the Friday at Silverstone Classic if anyone is likely to be there. I'm not in the country for Beaulieu this year, which no doubt means the weather will be spectacular all day.

Best

Hi, Have been a club member since 1998 when I fell in love with a 911 speedster.

When the 991 targa was introduced I loved the retro look, ordered one and waited

a year for the car to arrive. It was registered in January 16 so is probably one of the

last of the Gen.1 cars. The colour is Gulf Orange, but that is another story.

Glen.
