Here is the story behind my latest Porsche.......
After having owned 4 Boxster’s since 2005, the last one being a New 981 3.4S which I purchased in 2012, I found that having two wonderful growing Granddaughters which we could now enjoy having with us from time to time, quite often meant that to get any real ‘social’ use for the cars at the weekends I had to revert back to my regular 4 seater and whilst I absolutely loved my last Solid Black 981 Boxster, for a variety of reasons, I just wasn’t able to get the most use from it, hence it had only covered 12k miles in almost 4 years.
So, following much deliberation I thought that I would stretch myself to a one or two year old 911, I suppose that having such a small mileage on the current car did restrict me to quite a late 911, as I would not have wanted to have a car which was a/ older and b/ had more miles than my Boxster.
Following a few weeks checking various Porsche Centre websites, I eventually found a selection of around 5 ‘65 plate’ cars which would seem suitable. Two were Black Edition Carreras, there was an Agate Grey Carrera S and a Black 15 plate Carrera S, then at my local PC Leicester, I spotted a White ‘65 Plate’ ex-Demonstrator Carrera S which had only done 4800 miles. The specification looked great, Glass Roof, 20’ Sport Designs, PDK, White Dials, and leather. It also had a 20mm lowered Sports Suspension option, which although initially I was a little concerned about, found that following the test drive, it was far more pliant than I had anticipated. Eventually, after some final negotiations I agreed to purchase that one and part exchange the Boxster.
However, for the next two days, whilst I should have been so excited on getting my dream car, I found myself, looking at the images of the stunning white 911 I had selected, then taking a peak in the garage to look at my beautiful Black low mileage Boxster, and even re-viewing the Black Edition Carreras at alternative PC’s. All in all, I was so confused. Talking to my family and friends who knew my desire for Black Cars, I decided that even though the specification and price of the white one was just what I was looking for, the white colour just wasn’t for me, it had to be a Black one, or nothing. I had to make the trip to PC Leicester and have a long conversation with Jas the Sales Executive, and Sales Manager Allan, who must have thought I was such a difficult customer to please. But, fate must have been on my side as the previous day, they had decided to put their New 991 Gen 11 Carrera 4 Demonstrator for sale. As soon as I saw it there was no contest, the car was made for me, as it was a stunning looking Jet Black one! We did the deal, and agreed for me to collect the car the following Saturday when they would transfer the cherished plate and I would be the owner of another stunning looking Black Porsche. The hand over was an incredible experience, Jas and the whole team at PC Leicester, did a real good job with that, and the presentation gift which included a desk to photo frame containing a picture of my new 911 as it sat outside the dealership that sunny morning just topped the experience. I was well impressed.
Just two weeks later and trips to the South Coast to the Goodwood GRRC Member Race Meeting the first weekend then an Easter trip to North Wales last week, does mean that the mileage is quickly rising however, but each time the car fires up, it’s a symphony to my ears. We can all look forward to many more exciting 911 journeys in this gorgeous looking Black Beast.

here we are my Targa GTS......fully loaded and a manual box to boot

Great photo of your car and you certainly have a lively region to participate in.
They have some really good events and I'm tempted to come down for one of the early morning drives through the city.
Would you like your car to appear in the web site gallery?
Phil
PS My Wife is also called Katie and she sometimes keeps me in!
The Targa is a sweet looking car and the wheels look tremendous. Are the genuine Anniversary wheels?

Would you like one of the images in the web site gallery? Would you like your name included?
Just updating the PCGB website Register Galleries, would you like your car adding with your name included?

Yes sure that's no problem.

Apologies I thought I had put your car in the PCGB web site register gallery I will use the photo in front of the gates, it looks amazing. Mexico blue goes really well with the black roof and other black details. I'd love a ducktail on my Anniversary but I don't think it would be appropriate.

oh yes the real deal wouldn't have it any other way.....seat inserts front and rear being done in Black and white Houndstooth as we speak
Here's our new toy, a 2012 Carrera S cab in Basalt (black wheels, black leather, black everything!), PDK, Sports Chrono +, Bose and a few other bits and bobs. Third 911 but first cab for us and absolutely loving it, our very friendly local OPC lent us one for a few days last month and we got bitten by the bug. Just wish this wintry weather would do one so we can get out there and enjoy some top down motoring.

Look forward to meeting up with fellow 991ers at future events.
