991 Owners Cars

Hi Peter

My car buying had been stagnant since buying the 993 Turbo in 2000 apart from practical cars and 12 mths with a Ferrari 430 Scuderia in 2011.

My role in Region 5 spiraled around 2011 and I spent a great deal of time down at P C Wilmslow trying different models to increase member interest within the club. A couple of members bought 991's and I tried to get in on the GT3's but with no recent buying history failed. Being retired I was looking for something that wouldn't lose money or hold it's value. I was offered the 50th Anniversary and took delivery in May 2014 which turned out to be a good one to keep. On quizzing the sales team about the future GT3 RS I was given the first opportunity to buy the 40 Anniversary Turbo S with the idea of swapping for the 50th or maybe keeping both. Although the 40th was an awesome looking car (and only 40 of them) it was a different concept having been a Porsche UK idea than Porsche Germany. At £162,000.00 it was an expensive car but you couldn't see where the value lay. There was an excess of expensive leather in the interior and a few cosmetic differences to the standard car but nothing to shout about - they should have been given a power upgrade. It didn't feel right and I thought it would lose money so Wilmslow sold it on as new and struggled to find an owner. In hind sight probably a wise move but you rarely see them for sale now.

Testing of the 991 gen2 will begin in the new year so we'll see what temptation brings in 2016.

Merry Christmas

Hello guys,

I'm new to Porsche Club GB so time to introduce myself and my beast I guess.

Currently own a 991 GTS in Mexico Blue. Previously a 991 S Cab in anthracite. Also have a sturdy Cayenne Diesel for lugging kids and trailers. Loved my Cab (had a few issues like most it seems) but in December was cajoled by the Porsche salesman into relieving him of a GTS that had been ordered but not taken. I'm delighted with it - much sharper, quicker and more what I had expected a 911 to be.... Here's a couple of photos...

Love the car and the colour - the ducktail totally works on a GTS with distinctive colouring. And welcome BTW!

Hi all,

I hope you are all well!

Like Ratstick, I've just joined PCGB a couple days ago after attending the Performance Car Show at the NEC over the weekend. I live in Wokingham so my nearest region is R19 (Thames Valley). I've had a good look at the events calendar for R19 and noted down whats going on. However, being a newbie I'm keen to sign up to a few things so keen to know what other stuff is going on in my area and thought I'd sign up to the 991 register too :p! Anyway, hope to catch up with you guys sometime soon.

Cheers

Kevin

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the nice welcome! I'd love a photo in the gallery - thank you.

I can also let you know who built the log store :)

Cheers,

Alex

Hi Guys

I recently borrowed a Gen2 991 Carrera S for the day and I was really impressed overall, not as throaty as my sports exhaust but still some pleasant sounds. It rained all day so only managed a very wet photo set and a general feel of the new car.

The following week I had the car for an hour in the dry and I loved the handling and it is so willing to deliver the power.

Silverstone on February 3 for a 75 minute Experience to confirm how good it is.

I have posted a gallery of images on the web site and submitted an article for Porsche Post.

Cheers Phil

Hi Guys

I'm back to the Porsche fold, and so glad to be so.

I'm the proud owner of this Mint Green 991 GTS, a very special car. I love it! Look forward to the social side of the club, and see you all out and about!

I've an idea. Why don't you find a red and white one, line them up with the blue and green, and sell the photo to a toothpaste company...[:)] (only teasing chaps!)

Make a nice front cover for 991 Register calendar too!:p

Thats a great idea! I'm in :)

Hi Phil,

Looking forward to meeting up with everyone soon and seeing the fleet of 991's :)

Attached is a picture of my beast for the gallery. For some reason I couldn't upload more than one photo.

Would be great to hear about upcoming 991 events especially if there are any in the Wokingham area and/or R19 region.

Thanks

Kevin
