991 Owners Cars

Well done Phil and Barbera! ,I told you if you tried one you would buy one😆,

great you will be able to keep up now,lol 😉.

You must post your impressons when you have a rew miles on the clock.

John and Lyn

Excellent choice. Looks great in the photos and even better in the metal[;)]. The rear wing treatment in particular is a distinct improvement on the base turbo S. And a full house in the options department means you'll never have to miss another episode of Bake Off.[:D]

So the new RS has a Turbo S and now the new Assistant RS has a Turbo S, it's all go at the front and for us with the poverty spec GTS even harder to catch up at the back😢

Stunning car, congratulations and looking forward to a fleeting glimpse from the back on our next trip👍

My new GTS got delivered 10 days ago and I am thrilled with it. Orange and Black on the outside and leather and carbon on the inside (I am not an Alcantara fan...) and I love how the Ducktail Spoiler works.

I had 2 997s 8 years ago and then switched to Maserati, Ferrari, Lambo and Aston. Having had 3 Vanquish all go very wrong over the last 3 years I decided to return to Porsche and I am THRILLED to be back - a much better driving car, better built and at half the price!

I decided on a GTS because it is, for me, the ultimate naturally aspirated roadgoing 911 - I tried a Turbo S on track and didn't like how uninvolving it was to drive (reminded me of a GTR I had when they first came out).

New PCGB member as of 48 hours ago so will cease this stream of consciousness and further explore the Forum.

Hi Adam

Welcome to the Club, the Forum and 991 ownership! That looks the business and I can see why you're thrilled with it. Is that Lava Orange? That particular colour seems to photograph very differently in various light conditions, but is stunning in the flesh. Give us your driving impressions when you get a chance, particularly against the Aston which is often an alternative people look at.

Thank you!

The car is Lava Orange which seems to appear more Red in certain lights and photographs than it is 'in the metal'.

I am still running in (600 miles so far) but a much more dynamic and sporty drive than the Vanquish (and better still than a V12S which would be Aston's answer to the 911) so far!

This was the Lava Orange RS at Althrop and to my eyes looked more orange. Either way, it's a stand out beautiful colour and I agree about the Alcantara, it's great in certain areas, (headlining) but I prefer the feel of leather for the door cards etc. Personal choice of course.

Hi Adam

Looks like you and I are the new boys, it's about a month since I was made Register Secretary, so a warm welcome.

Brilliant colour choice for your 991, looks amazing!

Phil

Welcome to the 991 Forum Phil, it's been a bit quiet on here recently, so needs a bit of livening up! Think we need some pictures of your car - not many anniversary cars on the register!

Thanks Phil!

Congratulations on taking over the register!

I have to say that the PCGB Fora seem pretty stagnant and the software not exactly conducive to interaction and sharing photos / tips etc. I was wondering about starting a secret group (which is not searchable or public in any way) on FaceBook for enthusiastic 991 owners to chat and organise meet ups etc. What do you think?

Kind regards,

Adam

Hi Adam, it's called the "991 Club members Only" section of the 991 Register Forum, take a look back at the posts as far back as it will show and you will see it's far from stagnant but as you only joined 3 weeks ago maybe you haven't got that far yet. As for meeting up, drives etc. that's exactly what this forum section is all about.

Hi all as for livening things up a but here are a few pictures of the Turbo S 40th Anniversary I had momentarily and the 50th Anniversary I currently have. Cheers Phil

I agree in Adrian's comments, it is called the 991 register Which is run through the PCGB. We do not want to start a secret group, I certainly will not be even consider joining one.

Little do you know, but you have already joined a secret club as far as the register for 991/997 goes so no need to form a second secret club unless your thinking of people who's faces don"t fit with the first secret club[;)].

This is why you don't see much posted on these forums about organised trips / drive outs etc and if they do surface and do get posted on the forum it will have already been fully booked as it is all organised with private e mails off the forums for the their own click of friends.

All organised trips should be posted on the forum on a first come first served basis from the beginning not when its already booked up as above, but sadly this is not what happens unless they can't fill the spaces.

Can't speak for the 991 register but that's not what happens on the 997 register, Richard, particularly as we now have the excellent Mailchimp system. Indeed, 50% of participants on the recent Welsh Tour were first timers and much effort was given to encourage "new blood"

Since I have been 997 RS (2012) we have never pre-booked places ahead of an announcement on this forum. Those interested in our forthcoming 2016 Spring Tour will be able to corroborate this.

Maybe if the poster were a 997 Register member and had had any real-world experience of our events, he would be moved to retract such an unsubstantiated accusation.

Regards,

Clive.

Ok I'll bite. I don't know who you are, or whether you have a 991. What I do know is that during my tenure of the Register you never registered yourself or a 991 with me. So you would not have received the regular Google group emails that every Register member received. That is where all new events were first announced. There is nothing to say that the Forum is the first port of call for announcements and I used to post up the details of events 24 hours later as most members were not regular Forum users (and still aren't). The Mail Chimp system has now superseded the need for Google groups and I'm sure our new RS will decide the best ways for him to announce his events (as he has already).

If you are a Club member (your avatar says Guest of the Club) look back at the last year on the 991 Members area and you'll see all the runs and events that were posted. If you aren't a member then join up and get involved[:D]

Interesting turn of events Phil, what was your experience with the TTS that made it only a swift period of ownership?
