No need to go easy on a new Porsche - it's already run in. In fact it's better to give it some stick - helps with bedding everything in. Just don't load it or rev it when the oil is cold - maybe an oil change after 2/3K miles - but not before.

In Imgur, place your cursor on the top RHS of the photo you wish to link, a down arrow appears, select this then click on "Get shared links". This gives you 4 options, click the copy button beside "BBCode (Forums)", then paste that copied link into your Porsche forum post.

After a wait of nearly 6 months I finally took delivery of my new car yesterday. It had been waiting at the OPC almost 3 weeks, but we were on holiday then had commitments the next weekend, so I was dying to get my hands on it!

We are having a few days holiday in North Wales before going home and have now put 200 miles on the clock, obviously keeping the revs down and no full throttle but already the car and the way it drives are exceeding my expectations, I knew from all the reviews it would be good but I am very impressed - when I start to use the full power it will blow me away. It is so eager to put on speed and the way the PDK snaps through the gears is only part of the story - the handling is beyond anything I have ever driven, the confidence it gives you is incredible taking everything in its stride it's so planted on the road no matter what a corner gives it in the way of camber or bumps. I'm only scratching the surface of what it is capable of, it's a far better car than I am a driver! Very pleased and a very happy bunny!!

That is a stunning 991.2 GTS! Looks great in that colour - GT Silver? Congrats and wishing you very many happy miles as you get to enjoy the car more & more! :)

Enjoy the new car - love the colour [;)]. Mine has just cracked the 1000 mile mark and am absolutely loving it. I went with manual this time and am enjoying the shift action, but appreciate the pdk from my last car. As you say, hugely capable. Next months total 911 magazine does a comparison between this GTS and the 997 GTS which will be interesting, though regardless of what it says I favour the current model!

Your health to enjoy it!

Thank you both, yes it's GT Silver, I took a while to decide, loved my Guards BGTS, and Carmine is good too, but thought the 911 looks really classy in the silver - a GTS in GTS (Silver), a perfect match!

Clive, thanks for your view on running in - you may be right as I have heard that before, but the official Porsche guide is to drive gently until warmed up (common sense), then keep off full throttle and under 4K revs for about 1800 miles. After 1000 miles I will gradually take the revs higher and use more power so by 2000 miles full revs and full throttle is being used. I'm old school anyway and believe an engine needs time to bed in, plus other things need a few hundred miles too - such as brakes and tyres. Agree about the oil and filter change after 2k miles too.

And thanks for the tip on Imgur!

That is b***y lovely! Not normally a great fan of the Targa but that combination of body colour, wheels and brake calipers knits together rather well IMO. Enjoy Friday [:)]

Cheers

My last 911 was a 1979 911sc registration number ELO 6T she was a nightmare to drive in the wet, but at the same time great fun but that was nearly 20 years ago.

Really looking forward to the modern 911 experience, coming from a Cayenne Hybrid and before that an RS3.

Will post some pictures Friday/over the weekend

Enjoy your collection on Friday and we look forward to seeing the photos and hearing your first impressions of your new purchase! :)

yes really easy transaction and a fair part exchange price - £4k better than local Porsche dealer - £3k better than any Porsche dealer

Guys, just fitted my retro style (70's Carrera font) Side Stripes and ducktail Carrara S decal a la the classic '73 2.7 RS.

I appreciate this may be may be marmite/heresy to do this on a 991.1 for some, but with the Sports Design kit, I blummin love it. [:)]

Question is.. do I now need some 20" Fuchs?

Love it. I had the Sport Design kit retro-fitted to my Platinum Silver 991.1 C2.

Those side decals are great too. :)

20" Fuchs would finish it off nicely!
