991 Owners Cars

Hello all,

Just picked up my first Porsche this week, a 2015 911 Carrera Cabriolet Black Edition with Sports Chrono Plus and Sports Exhaust [8D]..and OMG what a sound it makes...a huge adrenalin rush and even bigger smile on ones face!!

Here she is back during collection from the dealership....[link=https://photos.app.goo.gl/F76uxW5P5WFqDhT13]https://photos.app.goo.gl/F76uxW5P5WFqDhT13[/link]

When I figure out the whole Imgur/ internet photo stuff I'll get some pictures up here too...

Anyhow, loving the car....don't think the neighbours quite so much...I do try and leave home in 'stealth mode' but still not really sneaking out under the radar :ROFLMAO:

Great forum all.

All the best

Steve

Very nice, Steve! Many congrats! Nothing like picking up a shiny Porsche 911 from the dealership. Wishing you many happy and exciting miles of 911 ownership! :)

Hi All,

Been lurking on here for a while before joining PCGB a couple of weeks ago and had to create a new account.

Owned a 986 for 7 years before selling it on to buy a 997.1 turbo which i had for 4 1/2 years before trading that in for a 991.1 TTS Which I've had for a little over a year now.

Its a great car but long for a GT3 but the queues to buy new dictate ill never own one & i refuse to buy a 5 owner 2 year old GT3 at more than its original price.

Anyway, look forward to continuing to browse and maybe pop along to a local meet.

That looks like St Kenelms church in Clent ?.

Hi SteveJC

Sorry for the late reply, had issues logging in due to PCGB inputting incorrect email address and me not being able to access the site.

You are infact correct, well spotted :)

The outlaws live in Halesowen and my son goes to school there too. I was just out for a jolly and it was a nice quite spot to grab a photo.

best wishes

Gary

Merry Christmas. I have a 50th Anniversary 991 and wondered if any member could help me. The wheel hubs that are attached to the brake rotors are painted a primer grey and are showing signs of rust spots. I wanted to rub these down and spay them and get them back to a factory finish. Does any one know the correct paint code and spec as would like to get them done during the winter months. Also at the front there is no mesh protection for the radiators and are showing signs wear from road debris. Can anyone recommend a quality kit that can be fitted to the front apron. Also I wanted to take off the rear bumper and replace the air filters as they haven't been changed yet, I have been looking at BMC replacements or shall I keep them standard Porsche. The car has only done 9k miles and like to keep it in as new condition. Be greatful for any help. Dave jones

Hi Dave, As regards the grey hub centres of your brake disks/rotors. Before you start hunting for paint codes it might be worth your while to liberally apply an iron/fallout remover (Bilt-Hamber Korrosol or similar) to the hub and give it a good scrub. I usually find this removes 90% of any surface rust. Repainting rotor hubs is a lengthy and thankless task! Failing that, any oxalic acid paste (Y-10 or similar) should remove any rust. Re-seal with a temperature resistant wax and they should look good until replacement time.

Reference your issue with the radiators getting a bashing from debris, I have the same concern but there is endless discussion here and on other forums as to whether aftermarket grilles a la GT3 can affect warranty claims regarding any cooling issues. Personally I can't foresee any significant issue with airflow unless you are either in Arizona or working the car hard on a track on a hot day! Can't help you on Air filters I'm afraid. I'd sling a pair of K&N panels in and let Porsche moan at me, but I doubt yours need replacement at 9k miles!

Cheers, Compliments of the season.

Jim

If you want to extend your Porsche Warranty the car may fail the 111 check until you remove the grills. They would not allow a wired in dashcam on my car so I took out a different non Porsche warranty .

Check out zunsport they do a full range of grilles for 911s . Want to get a set for my 991.2 GTS and their inexpensive. Porsche west London have said they won't honour the warranty with them fitted, but they have pointed me to their authorised repair centre to get them fitted.

Hope this helps

Happy New Year!!!

Another question. Just had a major service done and they changed the spark plugs, brake fluid and oil and filter but not the rear air filters.

when do these need to be changed. The car is just 4 years old and has done 9k miles.

Thanks Dave jones

same for mine - 4 years service done recently and various bits done including spark plugs, brake, oil, and air con, various inspections and checks but no mention of air filter parts on my service receipts either. Only 13k on mine also, so just curious

Well, (putting my engineer's hat on) it does make sense that air filters are changed/cleaned after an amount of running time as they are "throughput specific" whereas other consumables degrade over set periods of time. Oil becomes acidic, brake/hydraulic fluids absorb moisture from the air and become contaminated, and refrigerants leak...

I'd not panic too much, I trust Porsche to know "what's best" for my beloved much more than my VW, Audi or MINI technicians (although MINI are damn good).

Wouldn’t one just look it up?

I think they can't be bothered with taking off the rear bumper to access the air boxes.

i have looked on you tube and looks quite straightforward.

I would rather do it and change the filters , at least I can take my time and do learn about the car While carrying it out. I have the tools and garage.

Think i read somewhere that they should be changed after 40k miles.

I took out the cooling fans last week and with a torch I could see the filters and they Reminded me of my ex-wife, quite dirty.

Sorry i I couldn't resist that one.

i have been looking at the BMC filters but have heard some rumours that they might affect the sensors due to oil in them ! Any ideas .

Thanks

dave jones

I have BMC filters in my 3.8L Cayman and I change them each year. No issues with CELs but they only added 5PS at the very top of the rev range when it was being tuned on the dyno.
