991 Owners Cars

Congrats on your "new" 991... I suspect it matters not a jot what a salesman says, it is all down to the way you bond with the machine, and a GR Targa is quite some machine in which to enjoy the bonding process.

 
Hi, Giving serious consideration to buying a 991/2 Targa - does anyone have a comment re the roof keeping the wet stuff out - along with any reliability issues etc?

I'm aware that the engineering aspect has no relationship to earlier models which were not always great!

Also is anyone thinking of selling one?

I just signed up to the club so here's my muse by way of an intro...

My first Porsche.

She's a 991.1 Turbo S with pretty much every extra there was going at the time, inc. Aero.

I've had Eibach adjustable length lower arms fitted to the front to push out the camber & caster. Chris @ Center Gravity then gave it his favourite Nordschleife setup. The handling is epic and the steering feel is delicious. That guy is a magician!

I've also had braided lines, Endless fluid, Manthey Green pads and in a couple of weeks, Surface Transform discs added to ease the strain on the car on track.

It's quite fast.

 
Tasty...That looks to be about the best use of a spoiler I have seen on the legal side of the UK speed limit.. (-:

 
Well,3 months after selling my 991 and awaiting delivery of new shark blue cayman GTS 4.0 and my wife decides she doesn’t like the colour! never mind ,I’m collecting a 3 yr old 991.2 on Friday 18 k miles and all the options

i was going to pm you.I’ve booked in with litchfield to do the 460 bhp upgrade.

how have you found it .any concerns ?

i plan to keep this for a while( as I always say!),and don’t want to bugger the engine up long term.

grateful for any thoughts

Hi Dylan,

I have always found Litchfield Motors great to deal with. In fact, I’m back there next month for them to fit some extended wheel bolts (as I had 7mm spacers fitted all round by them previously).

I did have a turbo wastegate seizure on my car this year, but no evidence to say that was in any way connected with the Litchfield upgrades.

Very happy with my car and I too am planning on keeping mine long term. [:)]

nice use of the wing and a good amount of upgrades to your turbo S. Am also interested in getting suspension upgrades to my 992. Did the changes affect the warranty? What was the insurance premium increase. Surely it should make the car safer to drive [;)]. Thanks and enjoy your Porsche!!!

Hi John,

There was no need to claim, so I never found out. It ran out in April this year, and I didn’t extend it, due to fearing that the Litchfield upgrades would invalidate various elements.

Two lines which form part of the warranty documentation which require to be signed by the individual taking out the warranty :-

My Porsche is as per it`s delivery specification or has only been modified in line with the manufacturers recommendations. YES/NO I understand that I am committing to having my Porsche maintained and repaired at a Porsche Centre or Authorised Service/Repair centre for the duration of the Warranty Policy. YES/NO
