Thanks for all your assistance in trying to drag me into the digital age.... Seems George has managed to resolve the issue which was indeed down to software issues contained within the forum and not in my kit and for which I am grateful..

I see the opportunity to upload files to server option is available at the bottom of the page I am using and as a test I will hopefully post a couple of pics of my 991 in a following mail.

Following mail..? Yeah well I have asked the mods to bin my rambling on about software issues lest it spoil the enjoyment of 991 pics for others visiting at some later date..

As the proud owner of a 991.1 of 2012 vintage I thought to apply to join this section of the forum. I have been fortunate to have enjoyed a close up and personal history with air cooled Porsches and Porsche club folks over the years, so much so that my membership number has only three digits. Should you wish any further detail of my past sins, if you care to visit the 911SC section of the forum and work your way through a rambling thread I started entitled "Air Cooled Memories" I suspect there is detail enough contained therein to create a clone....(-:

As for my "new" Porsche I bought it sight unseen other than a via a walk around vid from a BMW dealership, which is a few hundred miles distant from me. I managed to talk the salesman into creating a vid of the underside with the underskirts removed during their PDI checks. The Vids in combination with scans of the service book were enough for me to become hooked, and with the backup of distance selling regs and that I was dealing with a large multi franchise dealership (Porsche included), I was reasonably confident that I might not suffer any real issues... Time will tell.

Having only owned my C4S for just over a month or so, I have yet to reach the time limitation before I can put it through the 111 point check at my local Porsche dealership with the hope of putting it on to the extended warranty scheme, though whether I need to remove the grills a former owner has installed in front of the rads or not..Hmm..? I guess I can understand in very warm climatic conditions that grills being a restriction/disturbance in the airflow reaching the rads could create issues... or/and that dependant on materials the grills themselves can corrode to the extent their mesh might expand and further restrict airflow..Hmm..?

My local Porsche centre were kind enough to carry out a complimentary health check which kicked up nothing other than puncture repair out of date... so far, so good..?

Yeah it is quite a different machine from the air cooled Porsches I enjoyed over a decade or so and light years from the old sports car I have enjoyed for the last 20 or so years, but in time I hope to feel ever more at home behind it`s multitude of controls... You can bet I will give it my best shot.. (-:

I will try to remember the process to post a pic for any who might have interest..fingers crossed.

FAILURE on the pic front... Seems I managed in the past direct from my PC without the need to give control of my pics to a third party, which I am not inclined to do... One might think that PCGB had funds enough to create a more user friendly interface..? NOT that I am complaining, just a tad confused.. (-:

It seems thanks to the effort of mods and members here I may now be able to post a pic or two.. Hope they were worth the wait... (-:

Thanks Simon, Aqua Blue it is, and it was the colour that initially hooked me and which was further set by the black leather interior and by the time I read it was a 3.8 AND 4S, well man maths in overload..! One of my pastimes was ever exploring single track roads and given the larger dimensions of the C4S over my earlier air cooled Porsches I was a little bit unsure If I would have the nerve to pilot this expensive creation along similar paths.... But I overcame my reluctance and am pleased to report it and I managed just fine... BTW the picturesque house in the pic is one one such road.

Will have another go at posting a pic, this one on the same narrow road high up in the hills.

Another great pic! I’d say that Aqua Blue is a rare and desirable colour for a 991. And being a 4S and naturally aspirated puts it near the top of the 991 tree! []

Jimmy, you are of course correct... if I had been the man I was circa 20 years ago or more, at which time nothing with an auto box would have found it`s way into my garage... well other than an interceptor but that was a very long time ago...(-:

Apologies to Jimmy, seems I rambled off typing of auto boxes when your point was relative to two wheel drive, I thought the same too in my early days of air cooled Porsches and sports cars in general, and still agree to some extent, in that until more recent times my preferred spec would ever have been manual box, 2WD and non-turbo, part of that reasoning being down to mechanical simplicity and hoped for lower maintenance/repair costs.. and of course I would think myself a more skilled driver as the result of being engaged in a more involving/rudimentary sports car driving experience, as no doubt many 2WD drivers do, so no argument from me on that score... (-:

On the other hand if you care to beam up the EVO vid from the link below, perhaps a bit like me, you may be impressed with both the rate of progress given the road conditions, and the enjoyment Henry Catchpole seems to have derived at the wheel of the C4S..? (-: Jeez, what I would give to be able to drive like Henry..!

I know what you mean about simplicity. I have 2wd and a manual, but I do have a pair of turbos (which are both getting replaced next month). I was idly speccing a Cayman 4.0 GTS on the configurator the other day, but I think I’ll be keeping my Carrera T for a bit longer... []

Yeah but the similarity stops there Simon, though I do have interesting roads in my locality so not grumbling too much...(-: For many a year I did my own spannering and much else, and on a limited budget, thus I tried to adhere to the KISS principal whenever possible. While I admit to a great deal of digital frustration over the years, I suspect the old man I have become may grudgingly find convenience in some if not all of the onboard gizmology...(-:

As for the Cayman... I flirted with that model as a possibility given it`is a coupe and nearer the dimensions of my past Porsches, but as this this will likely be my last Porsche, I guess it was ever going to be a 911..

I actually got the 991 in February last year (2020) so apologies for the lateness of this post but I have found the Club website bafflingly archaic and arcane especially wrt to posting images, where in the past none of my tried and tested methods seems to work at all. But an earlier post on this thread (to which I made contribution #2 back in the mists) by ralphmusic encouraged me to have one last attempt. Strictly speaking one of the cars is not a 991 but I had a photo of both in a similar location in the Jura which I thought might be of passing interest.

Yeah the site is a bit klunky but I guess if one considers the variation in devices, apps etc that might connect to it to try to send data, I guess it can all get a bit complicated..?

Hi all.

Just picked up my first 991 (had a Boxster S a good few years ago), really enjoying the 991 over the first 2 days of ownership. Looking forward to attending some events, meeting new friends and learning more about the Porsche marque.

Guards Red 2015 Targa 4S. The sales guy said the 3.8 NA is one of the best engines. ATM I can’t disagree with him. Also have a V10 R8 and new TTRS (this one is the boss’s ).
