991 Turbo PDK Only

I hadn't realised that the S wheels were smaller but they cost a considerable amount more to add them to the "ordinary" Turbo and I think that it would lower the trade in price when you come to sell.

However as you say the depreciation is horrendous anyway!!

Sorry not to have made it clear, it is the turbo wheels which are slightly less wide than the S wheels; tyres are the same size.

My 2008 Turbo 25,000 miles (no VAT paid just 5% GST and VED total about £7,000) appears to be worth only £35,000.00 against the new Turbo S around December.

That's frankly an absurdly small amount of money for what is probably 80-90% the same car (performance, looks etc) as the new 991 Turbo S.

Depressing to think that even with all it's mods, mine would be worth about the same. Yet if someone offered me £145k for it (ie. straight swop for a 991TTS) I honestly don't think I would sell it - I love it more today than I did 5 years ago when I bought it.

I know!! What am I doing?? Just time for a change I guess, almost tempted to keep the 997 for track days but I really have only space for one car in the garage.

This will be my last decent car anyway Zimmer frame GTS on order as the car will probably outlast me.
 
Part of my reasoning for letting mine go was along similar lines as mentioned here.. when it came down to putting in another £100K in for pretty much the same car as I already owned (70-80% as Alex says- as mine was just the standard model in the fastest colour[;)] ) I decided that I needed to take a break.
I have said all along where I thought the price of the new Turbo was going to be and i'm pleased/saddened that I wasn't far out.

Michael, you're costing for your car are almost spot on if mine were anything to go by, although I had a fair few more miles than yours...

Actually Alex I don't think that in my hands there is any real world performance advantage that the 991 turbo would have over the 997 versions. If I had the taps fully open in the old car for more than a few seconds on anything other than derestricted Autobahn [:)] I found things got pretty serious pretty quickly. Where I think the 991 generation do have the edge is in the overall environment in normal everyday driving. For those times, which for me are the majority, my current car is a nicer place to be than the turbo S; which I see is now sold, so someone out there has an absolute bargain. And if you take that thought and extend it out a couple of years then the smart money will be buying a lightly used one owner 991 turbo S in 2015. Unfortunately I don't seem to be that smart and need to move before George takes away my rail pass and heating allowance.

On the twisty bits of the recent SW drive my 991C2S kept up well with the Turbo S's . On a long straight there may be a different matter though.

Absolutely!! That is what the turbo does best. The only time I can get away from these pesky GT3's and buzzing Caterhams which hover around my rear spoiler on the twisty bits. Le Mans has two beautiful straights that really allow the power to be unleashed.

Track day there 3rd August, if anyone is interested there may be some places left.

A two day event, although I'm not sure what the difference are ?

Hi Gary, It would be nice to see a McLaren car on the circuit, first time for Delta

Friday is Maison Blanche circuit, quite technical and twisty only one decent straight but really demanding if you push it. Saturday Bugatti circuit GP moto track and uses most of the 24 hour race bit like pit straight and Dunlop Bridge, real motorway cruising for powerful cars and also great and safe for beginners and experienced drivers alike.

Mostly Jersey and Guernsey drivers but usually a couple of UK cars. I have been to Le Mans for several years with Delta, well organised. Stewart Barrow is the man to email (He is on the way to Monaco via Mornay track this week)

Yes, for us to with regard to the Ring. Unfortunately my two track buddies are having difficulty getting time off for the Ring although if we cannot make it in August we will try for later this year.

Who are you going with? we were looking at DN9 - AUGUST
August 5th and 6th 2013 - Nürburgring Nordschleife but see that Circuit Days are doing something on 7th and 8th.

Just seen pics of your McLaren in the magazine, looks really nice but very low! I am having difficulty getting into my turbo already so I am afraid McLaren is out for me, pity!!
