Anglesey Track Day 27th April
- Thread starter rob.kellock
- Start date
People are arriving at Llandudno from 11am I believe.
Team Mangetout expects its fleet to be well presented.
Incidentally, the boy wonder may be coming in a courtesy car from Bolton OPC!! Now there's an incentive for them to get his car back to him []
Told you it had a lot of options fitted!
Now he's scratched his 911 itch, I'm sure he'll be back in a proper handling mid engined sports car soon enough - let's face it, you can't have Jezza thinking he's converted him.
[]
Anyway... I must admit that new boxster S pdk is very impressive.... Rapid out the blocks but it was in Jezzer blue... Shame []
See u girls at the track x
So, where to start?
Here is a good place!
Back home after an incredible weekend involving some of the country's greatest driving roads, our own private top class race track, 4 Spyders in total, 214 Porsches on a Prom and great banter with some top guys.
Friday afternoon was spent here:
Friday night line up:
Ready for Saturday morning's early start. So early I took a photograph of a bag for you all.
But the early start was worth it because we got this place all to ourselves:
Spyder was unbelievably good. Superb instruction from Merv revealed he had more than a little soft spot for the Spyder. It's grip was phenomenal. It was me that needed a rest, not the car!
Saturday night also spent at the famous inn but we missed you flat6. Got the money shot this morning though.
One or two Porsches made it to the prom at Llandudno.
Oh yeah, and would you believe Team Mangetout's latest recruit was generous enough to throw me the keys to this beauty at Anglesey and let me go out alone for a few laps? I still can't, oh my word, what a beast!!
And just for fun, look what was waiting for me in the en suite back home!

Excellent idea to invite PCGB to come along and participate.
I got five passenger rides, thanks to Rob, Colin, Phil, Hassan and Zeb. All different cars and all very enjoyable.
At least it didn't rain though.
Cheers

AND---I didn't need to have drilled the water exit holes & gravel release slots--AND I didn't leave black "banana " skid marks just after a certain easy peasy corner (at least in my now twin antirollbar equipped motor.
In the day, I did 325 miles home to home so about 100 miles on track.
Challenging circuit and I now have a set of cut slicks on the turbo.....[]
Big thumbs up for our latest recruits to Team Mangetout namely Cecil and Hassan and thanks to Hassan for letting both me and rob out on track in his GT3......brave lad !! [][]
I'll announce the handbrake turn training day later in the year....and rob, it doesn't involve reverse.....[]
Just wanted to echo Rob as it was a great weekend!
Had a great weekend with Team Mangetout from R18. The origins of the team is their story but I was grateful to be allowed to become a member. I don't know if they're photo-shy so i've turned them into Porsche-Club-nuts in the pics.
Rob.Kellock "" daring on track and off it!
Turbocharged-tyre-shredding Jeremy!
Jamie "" getting married in a few weeks and even though that is dependent on getting their new 997 (and tyres) home in one piece, he took it straight to the track anyway!
Hassan "" a cool character who may actually be a brute as he brought a 996 GT3 RS as his choice of beast to tame on track!
We met up for the journey into Wales. I looked up at the skies and the weather was iffy, but Hassan with his coupe roof said it'd be fine. So I left the roof off. So did Rob. Part way through the journey it rained a little but whilst you're moving it blows over and doesn't come in, so we toughed it out until we got to where we had planned to stop. 4 white Porsches and a blue one to add a sprinkling of colour, created a lot of attention. With the roof off, I could hear the comments along with the waves and thumbs up "" things like "GT3 RS!!!!"
Thirsty work
At the hotel the level of camaraderie was stepped up as Jamie had produced Team Mangetout decals. With the cars in their livery, they captured even more attention at the circuit.
Had a great time on track. The car performed and for some reason I preferred the Angelsey track to Oulton Park. I think because a number of the corners are similar and therefore similar to learn. Also because of the long curve between "˜Church' and "˜Rocket' that you end at over 100mph and can only see the sea before going over the brow of the hill into a sharp left-hander at the same time.
Got a passenger ride with Andy Fagan. He does know how to hustle a car through the corners. Great fun!
Took a passenger ride in Jeremy's turbo. That thing felt like it was pulling in 3rd and 4th how mine was pulling in 2nd and 3rd!
Then at the end I got a ride with Rob. His tyres faintly screeched a little as they clawed and gripped coming out of the corners "" all four wheels playing a part as the car cornered flat and held it's line. Completely stable without a hint of drift from the front or back. I therefore concluded I hadn't been going as fast through the corners in mine!
After great couple of days the cars got a rest and then I went home before returning on the Sunday to Llandudno in my mate's 991 Carrera cab.

I will be adding to the galleries in the next few days
Had a fantastic day, the only image not mine is that of the White GTS (mine) taken by a mate at the circuit.
Ray, You really missed a treat. Must come next time.
