Anyone waiting for a GTS Allocation ?

I did include this in my spec and very pleased i did. Having now driven mine for 750 miles i can confirm that for most roads and 'humps' you don't need it. However, locally to me the council has decided to install some really unkind speed humps and the axle lift is required even at <20mph. When i built my spec i checked whether it was a good idea and both the dealership and my mates with many years Porsche ownership advised it was money well spent.....

It's one of those options that you may never need, but the one time you need it you'll wish you had paid the price.
For me its the ramps and humps in both public and private carparks, I've scraped the underside of many a car and lost plastic trim and plastic screws that hold underbody panels in place.

Those who have had your GTS delivered, did it come with the Service book and manual etc ?, mine didn't.

I have a 992 Turbo S and decided to opt for it as you can’t change your mind once you have the car! One very useful feature nobody has mentioned is that it is linked to the GPS signal and you’re able to store the location of use so it automatically raises when next in the locality. Numerous locations can be stored. Remember, some car parks have high curbs you may drive up to!

Hi - yeah i got service book & manual together with 2 x keys. Doesn't seem particularly unique i know however, I was told i was "one of the lucky ones" as Porsche were very short and were delivering vehicles with 1 x key and no manual but those clients were being informed that they would follow in coming months.......

Agree. The auto lift is great and makes life easier when going to regular locations.

I also have found the lift essential when negotiating some of those square speed humps that are in the middle of each lane as they can be high and I would have definitely brushed the front end

Thanks gentlemen, I think you have convinced me to add it to my order, as I'm a bit concerned about my office underground car park and the ramp there and also a couple of speeds humps I have to negotiate on the way to my parents house.

If I’m doubt maybe add it

ill try and some images from my dashcam of what it handles on my route no probs

btw off topic but one extra I wasn’t sure about but got in the end is RWS - is great.

Thanks Andrew, that'll be much appreciated. And yes, I have RWS added as well and after my Silverstone Porsche Experience I'm happy with that decision as the car handled great.

I have RWS on my spec too, as it (theoretically) makes the running gear the same spec as a Turbo on a C4 GTS base car.
Loved the setup and drive of my 991.2 Turbo, so have high hopes for the GTS (less some of the poke).

anyone know the current lead times on a GTS4? Or put deposit down recently? Cheers

Speaking to a few dealers recently, if you put a deposit down now then you are looking at Q4 2022, possibly Q1 2023.

Yeah I put my order in last month and was told Q4 2022. If it slips to Q1 23 I wouldn’t be heart broken.

I got the service book and manual but only 1 key. It seems to be a bit of a lucky dip !

Can I bring up the thorny subject of insurance ? When I collected my car a couple of weeks ago my policy was due to expire so I just tacked it on to the old policy for a few weeks but I'm now in the process of renewing for 12 months.

I'm shocked to have been quoted from £1100-£1500, that's for myself and Mrs Major with no accidents or points and nearly 40 years driving experience. Car garaged in a low risk postcode. I have tried Locktons, Mannings, NFU, A Plan, Henderson Taylor, most of the usual suspects.

Is that typical ? I was expecting it to be about £500.

For some reason Admiral are coming in at £350 on the price comparison pages but I'm slightly wary about using them due to the value of the vehicle and the potential ball ache in the event of making a claim.

Anywhere else I should try or is this just the 'going rate' ?

Hi Major
On my 991.2 Turbo and current 992 C2S, LV.com were very competitive, coming in around £250 for protected bonus, 2 drivers, on the drive and about 8k miles pa.
My guess is that the GTS is too new for the underwriters to understand the risk profile yet.
When I took delivery of my 992 Cab, the insurance was over £600 as this was about the first non-S 992 delivered, on renewal it pretty much halved in cost.
I do HAVE to have the VTS+ enabled, as I never found one insurer that would quote without it activated :)

Hello,

Regarding insurance, I have used Admiral for my previous 992 C2S. Price wise they have been circa 600-800 depending on which year.
I have just run a quote with them in the last week for a 992 C2GTS and it came out around 600 with VTS enabled.

I do understand your concerns but fortunately I have not had to find that part out.

Regards

Stewart

Thanks for the info Jackdog, the message from LV for me was that they didn't cover this type of car. You could be right in what you're saying about the car being new hopefully 12 months down the line things will be a bit more settled. Admiral weren't fussed about me having the tracker activated and in doing so was only bringing the premium down by about £30.

Stewart, I have used Admiral many times before on lower value vehicles and may decide to go with them now I'm just a bit wary given the value of the car and the issue of where it would get repaired in the even of a claim. Maybe I'm over thinking things. I figured Porsche assist would take it to a recommended repairer anyway but the Admiral small print does state they can ask for it to be taken elsewhere if they believe the repair quotation is too high. Hence my hesitation !

I’m really surprised LV cant help- I’ve been with them many years and recently insured porsche number 14 a 3 yr old 991.2 £85k machine for £350 a yr.no VTS required but they do insist on dashcam
