Anyone waiting for a GTS Allocation ?

You did extremely well to get a PTS colour now, as it was only added to the configurator about a week ago. In fact there's someone on PistonHeads who's had to forego a Feb 2022 build slot as he was told he couldn't have PTS and has accepted a May build so he can get PTS.

Yes, I did notice it only appeared on the configurator recently. They did have to ask for another PTS slot, had to wait a week or so to see if I got it.

Hi- first post been lurking for a while. I placed an order end of august for a GTS and got a mail today saying build in march delivery in April.
i had heard nothing in between from the dealer and had been given no indication of delivery. first porsche.

Has anyone had any issues programming the Homelink on the new PCM 6.0 ? I can't get mine to work (Hormann Supramatic opener) and everything I can see online and on YouTube relates to the old PCM and/or different brand of garage door opener. Incredibly frustrating ! []

Look what arrived at my OPC today!

Question for those with a current 992. Is the car delivered with the god awful plinth on the front or is it fitted at PDI?

Thanks Clive, I still can't find a quick answer to this but I don't think there actually is one. Your link has given me a couple of other avenues to explore.

For anyone who is thinking of speccing Homelink, save yourself a whole load of angst and order a spare remote to keep in your car. The Porsche system is utter garbage.

Kind regards,

Major

Hi Schuey

Detailers are taking it in today so hope to have it late next week/early week of 17th.

I'm going for PPS on front end, bonnet, wings, A pillars and front of roof followed by ceramic all over.

I was going to have the diffuser painted however have taken a step back on this and will live with it for a while before making a final decision.

Best

Nigel

Hi Nigel, what are the advantages of PPS over PPF? I’m assuming no join lines or risk of peeling. Anything else? How much are you being charged for PPS+ceramic coat?

How rude of me, i didn’t introduce myself properly! Literally joined a week ago. Really enjoyed checking out the resources on the site. Never owned a Porsche, hopefully picking up a new 992 Targa GTS at some point in March. Im thinking of getting PPF but remain unconvinced. Ive had a few quotes and they’re between the 5-6k mark for the full car…Im assuming the coupe is even more due to the roof. To me this sounds very expensive for something that guarantees nothing! All the videos show people slowly scratching the surface of the bonnet with a brick or steel brush. The reality is that the self-heal layer is only a few microns thick. In the real world, any stone travelling at velocity will likely tear the film and if unlucky could even damage the paintwork. After a few months, dirt gets in and it becomes noticeable. After a few of these in a year you’ll probably want to replace the PPF at the front which will cost 1k or so… Scenario 2. Leave the car Naked. Live with a few stone chips for 6months to a year. Take the car to a detailer who can correct the stone chip marks for about 1k or less….you can do this 5 - 8 times to breakeven. Anyone with a different view? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
GM

Any good installer worth his salt will be able to install it so you can’t even see it. As for the stone that penetrates it that may mark the paint without ppf the damage might be substantial. Having had my cars in Uk and here in Kuwait done I would never go without. also The film and installation should have warranty up to 10 years for any issues with either.

Simon1982, i have no doubt be immaculate on installation. My question is more to do with how it copes as it ages and is it worth the cost? The Mrs has a lowered white JCW Mini for the past 5yrs. In that time only one stone chip has required attention and we decided to get the whole front paint corrected which came to around 800gbp. Most PPF provide 10yr warranty against yellowing / cracking. The self heal portion of the film is only a few microns thick so theres a good chance it will rip the film with any meaningful impact. Once ripped dirt will invariably get into it and may even require replacement if you get too many of these. Check out this video, he illustrates the point im trying to make.
