Anyone waiting for a GTS Allocation ?

Yeah I get your point. I have had ppf on bikes that get fairly hammered with stones and road crap and have not had any issue with lifting or stones damaging the film. The installer I use said if it lifts or a stone penetrates it he will replace for free. My car here in Kuwait gets driven in sand storms and the self healing is still fully working. The good thing here is the heat in the sun is enough to activate it.

a lot of it is about how good the film is and how good the installer is.

Yeah great point with regard to the different conditions you face in Kuwait. Ive had a look at a few that install Xpel and another one that does Llumar Valor. Ultimately i think i will go for it, its a bit like GAP insurance, will hardly ever come into play but gives you some peace of mind.

Personally, I think PPF (or not) and the value of it is a complete imponderable and ultimately a personal choice; no right or wrong.

After much debate (in my own head), I ended up having Front PPF and Ceramic over the whole car. My rationale was that I tend to keep cars for a lengthy period so things that help preserve paint and make cleaning easier is a bonus and I can "spread" the outlay over several years of ownership (I had my 997 for 8 years until trading in for current 992).

However, I do not anticipate any economic benefit (short or long term) from having PPF. The cost of having any paint chips dealt with for a private re-sale will be far less than PPF cost and for a trade-in, I doubt an OPC takes any notice for the purpose of trade-in value; ultimately they expect some paint chips to deal with.

My friend, on the other hand, who replaces his car every couple of years, did not bother with PPF for the reasons I outlined - It's a cost that will not be reflected in the trade-in value come replacement time.

Circa £3,500 for PPS covering front, bonnet, wings, A pillars and front of roof plus ceramic over entire car, wheels, calipers and entire interior.

Benefit of PPS over PPF is that you don’t get any edges: marginal I suppose as I don’t think it makes any difference to the protection it offers.

I’ve decided to use TBC Detailing in Norwich.

Please PM me if you (or anyone else) has further questions.

My dealership arranged for the car to get fully PPF'd for me on arrival from Germany and pre-registration. It was trailer'ed down to Topaz in London, with whom they appear to have an arrangement, and it came back around 4 days later.

It is a 992 C4S coupe, cost was £5k - whole body. It's a very neat job although you can see the edges on each panel if you look hard enough. I've since had GTechniq Halo put on top at a local detailer in Cambridgeshire (which I'm very happy with and to whom I would go if the PPF needed touching up or replacing).

I'm on the fence as to whether it was the right thing to do (it's a lot of money), but I do put a lot of mileage on my cars and use them for long distance touring - and the PPF film on the bonnet already has one distinct tear mark from a stone which otherwise would have gone through into paintwork. My last 991.1 did not have PPF and it ended up with the front end all pock-marked with stone chips through to the undercoat, and random marks down the sides and on the rear arches. Same with the Panamera (which only had a ceramic coating), although not as bad.

Regards
Mark

Hi All
It has been sometime since I have posted, worried about PCGb seems t
o be going in the wrong direction.
I still have difficulty in attaching photos.
Hopefully you will see GTS Cabriolet

Hi All
I have tried to attach photos , really this is not a user friendly system . What is the problem here any other system allows you to attach anything to your message without going to flicker /photo bucket.
At the end of the day all I’m trying to do is to communicate with people within the PCGB submit a post and attach some photos . Seriously considering renewal my subscription.

Just got my image from the factory, very excited !!

Hi,

Can I ask how do you get this sort of update? Is it 'Porsche Track Your Dream' site and at what stage can you register for it? Is it when you get an allocation or when your build starts? Is it something your dealer initially sets up for you or does Porsche AG somehow find you via your email address?

Sorry, I’m not near that stage yet but interested to know how it works so that I can look out for things.

Thanks.

I have 'My Porsche' and a registered ID within that, however nothing related to my order or 'Porsche Track Your Dream'.

Am I getting my wires crossed, and 'Porsche Track Your Dream' is not available in UK at the moment, it's only there in the US? Or is it available but just that I cannot see anything because I don't have an allocation at the moment?

Its on My Porsche but only when your order has an allocation. I ordered in November with deposit, allocation was confirmed last Friday and it now appears on My Porsche as stage 1 of 6. Hope that helps....

Thanks, that makes sense now.

Was the option giving factory production pics not only being trialled with certain UK OPCs to start with. Think there was a list of about 5 of them.

Wow you only placed your order in Nov?
Which OPC did you order from if you don't mind me asking?
I ordered with deposit end July and I'm still waiting for a build slot confirmation. I've been told March delivery but I'm getting nervous...

Don't worry, you're not the only one. I placed my order and deposit at the start of July 2021 and still haven't had an allocation ??

I don't know what the difference between an 'allocation' and 'build slot' is, or are they one of the same thing?

I have had a deposit down for longer than that, and I now do have a build slot at the end of Feb for delivery / collection at the very end of March / early April. This also meant that as my build slot was allocated before the recent price change; my price was fixed at the pre-increase level.

I don't see how you could get a car in March without a build slot already being allocated to you - hopefully I am wrong and you land lucky of course! Suggest a call to your OPC to confirm maybe?

Sorry I can see how that can be easily confused.
My order is for a Taycan GTS not 911 GTS I was just helping out with the question.

Please can you expand on that? My dealer had said to me I wouldn't be impacted by the price rise regardless as order was placed beforehand. It doesn't matter whether or not you get an allocation, it depends on when you signed the order form as I understand it. Correct me if I'm wrong and you know more..?

My guess is that it is OPC variable somewhat, but also likely to vary on how long it would take for your order to be fulfilled (via a build slot).

For example, I still have a deposit down for a 992 Turbo that I placed an order for in early 2021. I have turned down two build slots on that so far (as I took a C4GTS instead). If I can still buy a 992 Turbo in 2023/24 at 2021 order form pricing I would be very (happily!) surprised...

GTS builds is what the factory has been tooled up for over August, so this model has the most output/potential allocation so your OPC may know the order and delivery gap is manageable for them :)

All speculation on my part, as I have never had to discuss a price change in this situation.
