Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Slightly odd in that the Seller is shown as USA based

"Based in United States, thedell18 has been an eBay member since 14 Jul, 2005"

and even "more odd" is "Collection from Sidmouth" where I live... not me by the way. I don't recognise the house but it might be in a nearby hamlet.

The first almost new 718 Spyder being sold for list price excluding the other £10750k of non Porsche options

Porsche 718 Spyder Manual in Gentian Metallic Blue covered less than 400 Dry road miles registered in December 2020 and carefully run in in line with the manufactures recommendations in better than “as new Condition” and prepared for a “never sell car” so this one should not be for sale but for genuine reason is. This car has been fully detailed, fully Expel PPF’d and then Gt-technique protected. In addition she has been fitted with the excellent Brooks Sports exhaust which can be supplied (at a small extra cost) with the car ( These pictures show the Brook exhaust fitted) or removed and the factory sports exhaust re-fitted as it’s an easy 60+ minute removal and re fit time. Most of these cars have a professional sport exhaust fitted as the factory supply has particulate filters which I like many others think mutes the sound and this Titanium exhausts truly unlocks that wonderful flat 6 engine sound. The exhaust complies to all noise requirements and does nothing to effect the cars performance or future MOT requirements. If you want a very collectable Porsche 718 Spyder in Manual and are not eligible ( to buy a new one you have to have spent money with Porsche on many other models) or don’t want to join the long waiting list for one (if you can join as I have been told the new order list is now closed) this one is very reluctantly available with an £8K saving over what I have spent over and above the cars purchase price to make it the very best available. Please look at the options as virtually nothing is missed off Car’s cost to me is Porsche 718 Purchase Price with options £98,058.34. Paint protection and detailing £6,000 Brook exhaust £4,750 Including Fitting (Additional cost in this sale). Total car cost (Non Sports Exhaust) £104,058.34. With Brooks Titanium Sports exhaust £108,808.34. Car offered for sale £99,000 (Non Brook exhaust ) . Add £2,500 for the Brook Titanium Sports Exhausts.

Just finished sorting my 987 Spyder ready for the spring sunshine. Exel Wheels re-finished wheels to the original colour (satin black when I bought the car). Chris did a fab job on them, along with fitting new Michelin tyres. I've replaced the original 20kg lead acid Moll battery with a lithium 40 A/h (Antigravity) and saved 15kg. So far all systems OK. When you consider the position of the battery, with the terminals just below the base of the windscreen height, this has got to make sense.

So with bucket seats, no radio and no A/C combined with the manual box, she is back to the diet that I should be on. I'm looking for somebody with corner weights just to see how close we are to the 1275kg that was advertised by Porsche in 2010. I suspect Spyders with PCCB were used for the weigh-in. I will post the weight for interest when I get it done.

Hi Jimmy, you could be right if you live near Mansfield. Yes, the radio went as I preferred the sound of the motor. I got the wheels done because my partner thought I was joining the dark side. The car is lovely - any info you have about the car would be nice to have and add to my paperwork.

Well my Crayon Spyder PDK should land next month.

I deliberately waited for the PDK as I plan to use and enjoy the car for several years and be damned the manual naysayers.

Yes I love PDK, best of both worlds.

You can manually change gears if I want to or I can let the box worry about gears

With the latter, I can concentrate on the fast and slow pedals and turning the wheel to stay on the tarmac.

Which to be honest is plenty enough for my brain to deal with.

Like all things in life no one should follow the flock of sheep, sometimes the fresh green grass is the other way.

Buy what you want and just enjoy, especially if you are spending near six figures.

To me those that only look at resale values and keeping the miles low really do not truly get or enjoy cars.

Hey that's just my opinion and although Im usually right, Im not always [8|]

First stop from the dealership will be NVN in London for a full PPF and Ceramic coat, then open roads here we come.

She will see a trip to rag round Spa and no doubt a few other track days but mainly Im looking forward to some glorious trips through the Alps and the rest of Europe.

That said the 1st trip will be at the end of May on the North Coast 500 followed by many other days on and around UK roads.

James

I have owned 987 Spyder Manual & PDK so I get exactly what you are saying both have their plus points but for my few thousand pure pleasure miles p.a. and the need to protect my points free license I was very happy to have no option other than 3 pedals when I went 981 Spyder and slowed back down to more sensible speeds once more

The 987 PDK was just to easy to speed in compared to manual shifting version and if I would have gone 718 Spyder for my needs it would have been a manual again but for your usage I can see the attraction of the paddle shift version

Look forward to hearing your fist impression after the North Coast 500 [;)]

My 987S had PDK and I never got used to the twiddly buttons on the steering wheel, and much has been written about the shift itself being counter intuitive if you choose to use that. I would agree, but there is some continuity in Porsche thinking, as my Boxster GTS had the electronic handbrake which is PUSH to engage. I must have got that right about 50/50. I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks, so am happy to have a 987 Spyder with manual box, and an old school handbrake. Decent paddles must be the answer, as I found driving in auto was not what these cars are about.
