Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Was there not a big picture of one in that combo in Christophorus magazine once? It may not have had the red seats. Sale price of a couple of thousand above list is... Brave? If anyone wants to bid me £52k for mine they would be welcome! Hell, I'd even fill it up with a full tank of Shell's finest and buy them lunch!

Rob had anyone in the UK ordered one of these more "adventurous" specs they may have had a chance of a premium but knowing most OPC's they would have strongly advised against doing so [] Personally on a car like a Spyder I think one could have gone unconventional and got away with it Porsche definitely missed a trick by not offering a couple of "unique" colours for a unique model IMO

Don't forget the braver colour choices have both a premium and a big penalty depending on whether you are buying or selling to anyone in the trade! On the one hand - I'm afraid I have no room for manoevre on that particular vehicle sir because of its rarity value... On the other - if it was a white one with a black interior I have customers waiting but... [sucks teeth] etc. [:D]

Rocking horse sh*t when you are buying [;)] As common as muck when selling []

I agree. It's like the guy who runs dspyda.com. He had the PTS riviera blue car and now has a standard silver car. Pics on first 2 pages: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/boxster-cayman/253071-riviera-pts-spyder-has-arrived.html

He should have stuck with that blue beauty especially as it's probably one of one [8D] Colour really suited the car and would have been my 1st choice for my Spyder had the UK ever been offered PTS

No buckets , only worth a six pack of quavers! What is that in front of the gear lever, near the ashtray?

daro911, I like that colour too. I agree that the Spyder suits more daring colour choices. VvrooomM, the light is the passenger air bag disable indicator. I only know because i've installed the disable switch on mine for when I have the child seat in.

The seats, the PCM, the weight! Good job you're nice and slim! Only messing, had I gone PTS I'd fancy Viper Green with black decals and your wheels. I do like the blues though.

[:D] The previous owner even wrapped the steering column in leather [&:] It doesn't have any other 'extended' leather trim though. Doesn't have cup holders either [:D] I'd take a red one with black wheels

ORIGINAL: VvrooomM Well it isn't getting cleaned today but updated the sig with some spec.
Any pics yet? All these brightly coloured ones are hurting my eyes [8|] The Spyder has so much pulling power that Peter Bull will be on the phone soon asking us to back off from this thread a bit before PCGB needs to invest in new servers [:D]

[:D] There's a few threads above ours in the charts [:D] http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/searchpro.asp?searchfor=active Enter the Boxster Spyder playground. Check out the data, choose your colour, pull the door handle, download the video[8D] http://www.porsche.com/microsite/boxster-spyder/usa.aspx

I'm quite happy with our position in the chart [:D] Particularly when there are probably only half a dozen Spyders in the entire club! American mini-site was fun, not seen that before.

Intrigued by your USA video, I have just spent my lunch break playing on google. Back to the original thread title, the bigger question must be are Spyders becoming extinct at OPCs worldwide!! There are no Porsche approved used Spyders in China, Japan, Singapore or Hong Kong. There are just 16 in the whole of North America ranging from $75000 to a bargain $63500 which is just shy of £39400 or slightly cheaper than the Wilmslow car! It's a global village in Spyderland [:D]

How can you build the Kellock empire into the global brand that will outsell MacDonalds -SpyderLaw-- if you have lunchbreaks-some of us work through them.[:)] Now there's two renamed R18 members--Gravel Boy v SpyderLaw

Good lunchtime research Rob and the situation in Euroland is pretty similar so it looks like a future classic has been created now lets hope the excercise isn't to be repeated again [:D]

A few minutes on google when I eat my sandwich won't stop the empire building. Your re-branding exercise could work better at a local level - SpyderLaw becasue sometimes less is more...

That picture makes it look like a giant Spyder and a 3/4 size 981!

That's the spirit Rob [;)] Slowly we'll piece together this Spyder phenomenon[:D] If the collectors swoop in, the rest may soon be gone. Did Porsche realise a Boxster was going to be one of the most memorable cars, IMHO, from the 997/987 era. IMHO the most memorable 997/987 cars are: The GT3 RS 4.0 - the only 4ltr, road-going Mezger engined 911 and producing 500 horses naturally aspirated. As close to a Porsche race car as you can get. The GT2 RS - 620 horses - so much power as to eclipse even the legendary Carrera GT, on paper and on the track. Enough said. The Boxster Spyder. Well, we have 33 pages of what we think[:D]. Uses back to basics lightweight design and a well tuned chassis, combined with unique looks and an ingenious roof design. The 997 turbo is a personal favourite but the continued evolution of the technological tour de force makes it difficult to place a milestone at a particular model.

And Jamie's 987 tip tronic. Memorably failed to turn up at Oulton Park... At least turbo boy made it! Here's a good one of a 997 turbo in action:
