ORIGINAL: rob.kellock Must be the weather - mine had sticky brakes the last 2 times its been out. Wore off immediately.
Could be it's certainly extremely damp down here. I managed to roll into the garage and stop without touching the brakes so there is no reason for them to be stuck next time out[&o] Hopefully
I think you'll find its the brake shoes for the handbrake that stick [;)]
But I never use the handbrake as PDK has to be left in park to remove ignition key so no point using handbrake for the very reason you state. Had that happen several times on the manual one so in the end I just stopped using it and left car in gear[&o]
Surprised the pads stick that badly then [&:] It's not uncommon for them to be noisy for a mile or so until they clean up the discs (One of the reasons car salesman say they're just going to check the fuel etc before they let you drive a car [;)] )

Hoping its a freak one off [&o]. Otherwise will have to get an Indi to investigate

Back down to just one Spyder for sale on Pistonheads seems like the private sale 20k miler for £33k has gone [;)]

Mine was the same this morning; parked in garage, handbrake off, washed it last week. Front pads were stuck to the discs because they didn't dry out very quickly due to the damp air. They were quite squeaky at first, just made sure I did some heavy braking, soon sorted them out!

Amazing how we are all suffering similar sticking pads issue this week [:D]. Looks like it might just be a freak one off after all especially if this bloody rain clears off finally

Most garages get damp at this time of year and mine is no exception .I have loads of trays filled with cooking salt lying around and it is amazing how much moisture they extract change it every month .Try placing a a few around your front wheels and see if that makes any difference I buy a 25k bag cost around £15 bag from the cash and carry every year use it to clear the paths when snow arrives.

Thanks for the tip and yes garage does get damp but it has never affected any previous garage queens [&o] Could well be damper than before due to so much rain for so long but it might be this actual car misbehaving itself because I wash & polish it too much [:D]

ORIGINAL: I think the old classics deserve to get reserved for concours duty after they've done they're driving in earlier years
I would not say that too loudly, lots of guys on here drive, track, race and rally their older cars (those before the 9x6/7 series)
True. The 2 classics that were showing us and thing or two at Anglesey would be wasted living a life on static display[:)]

ORIGINAL: Andy Fagan Whilst I was out I filled up at the Shell station (The one we met at on the EVO run). When I went to pay a very attractive young girl behind the counter said "Really nice car by the way". I just said "thanks", but found it a little embarrassing as there was a big queue of people behind me. How does everyone else react to that sort of comment?
She only said your car was nice, nothing to be embarrassed about. Maybe even slightly disappointing that only your car got a complement[:D] I had another customer at a petrol station comment on my car. She was youngish and was with her boyfriend but spent what was probably 2 minutes (but felt like 5) on the forecourt talking to me whilst he was paying. Talking about how she wished she had something like that and was still talking to me when he came back. I somehow got onto showing her how cheap the road tax was (the kind of thing Ross from Friends would do[X(] ) and then she was telling him when he came back. AWKWARD! Another time in a supermarket car park a similar thing happened. The girl was there for what seems like an age, doting on the car whilst her boyfriend stood there with his hands in his pockets wondering when this would end. AWKWARD! The rest of my attention has been from school kids who cheer and point as I drive through the morning traffic. One good thing to come out of it though is that it has made my son very popular at school, but in a good way. Kids much older than him have got to know him as they've chatted to him to ask about the car. He's very humble and tells them very little (he's always been told that how much it cost is strictly off limits for school conversation and so is boasting) and he's got to know kids of all ages throughout the school without it going to his head or them seeing any showing off.

We need to pick a Sunday morning. Unfortunately, I am tied up with one thing and another for the next few weeks. Realistically, I'd be looking at 2nd March or fortnightly thereafter! Jeremy Heney was going to plan a run out for R18 which I said I'd help with - he had a route in mind in North Yorkshire I think, maybe we could kill two birds with one stone...

You're right. I am failing miserably to make the most of using it for the daily drive[&o] Top down for the drive home tonight if it's crisp and dry [:)]

All cars stick if they are left with wet discs, the damp lies between the pads and the disc and surface rust fuses them. If it is wet drive your car along the drive and into the garage holding your left foot, but not to heavily, on the brake pedal this should dry them, if it is a very short distance go backwards and forwards a couple of times, the friction causes heat which dries the pads/discs. This needs a little practice as it is not natural to have your left foot on the brake pedal and you could have a mishap, practice in the open first to make sure you know what you are doing before entering the garage. Those who wash their cars by hand will be familiar with this problem, you can't let a car sit after hand washing it or the brakes will fuse. For this to happen to a car put away dry you would need heavy condensation in your garage which is drawn to cold bare metal i.e. discs.

Yip know all about this procedure [;)] the main problem with this is after you have washed all the car and done the wheels inside and out you dry the car off inc wheels ,them you brake dry the discs you end up with a dirty inside rim and have to wash the rims again []. I went out and started the car today has been lying a while and the brakes where free as a nut . no grinding .[;)]

Lovely stories. All I've had no far is a white van driver shout "c*nt" out of his window as he drove past one sunny Saturday morning recently when I had the roof off. He must have met me before. [:D]
