Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

There's a lot of talk about "perfect spec", whether that is for re-sale appeal or personal use but what you have to remember is everyone has different priorities. I bought my Spyder for Euro trips and the odd weekend blast. I didn't mind that it already had 20k miles on it because I'll be sticking a load more on over the summers. Ideally I wanted a manual as my previous car was a dual clutch but Mrs E occasionally wants to drive the car [] and she doesn't like manuals. I wanted a car with radio/audio interface and bluetooth otherwise on those long Euro jaunts I would have to talk to Mrs E. Now I can just turn the stereo up. Air con was nice to have and the weight didn't bother me because on a long weekend Mrs E's hair straighteners/curlers/drier/make up bag etc in the boot would negate any weight saving anyway. I wanted Spyder wheels because they look good and the PSE because it sounds good. I wanted bucket seats because they look cool! If I was really worried about saving a few kg's here and there at 6'3 and 100kgs I'd probably be best losing a limb! All those criteria might not make the "perfect spec" for anyone else on the forum but to me I have the car I want and I'm sure everyone else on here has the car they want, even though they are all different. This is what loving cars is all about, there is such diversity in peoples tastes and requirement so it results in such a mixture in the types of cars enthusiasts run. If everyone worried about buying the best/quickest car for re sale we'd all be driving grey 320d's!

ORIGINAL: flat6 8 to 1 Real world vs hype[;)] [/quote We keep going around on this! What next? Someone will soon scribe 'I won't have one unless it's got cup holders because I like drinking and driving[;)] Let's face it like me you probably had a must have list and a nice to have list when looking for your car. If you found a car with all your must have list completed would you not buy because something on your nice to have list was missing? I certainly wouldn't. If you want to drive your car hard and your primary use is for track days then you list will more likely be different from mine. No matter what Once you have driven one you will be smitten - how many time have you seen that written? Ones things for sure - they are great cars!

Thumbs up BigE. 'Keepin it real' is what its all about[:)] John, you're so right. Round and round. Thankfully this time we've come to a consensus, I think. They're all desirable and enjoyed by those who buy them. But then we knew that anyway, as we own them [&:]:ROFLMAO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mp4jQJjRqA0

the fact is though you still bought a car with bucket seats and Spyder wheels :) which I said is the concept of the car, every thing else is more personal and will not really affect resale.

Just had look at the site $9k for seats is bad enough but $3.6K just for Alcantara inserts is a joke .I recon you could get leatherette inserts here for half that or i am i short of the mark in my costs

whats all this and leather inserts!I must be the only who likes the alcantara inserts on the buckets.coming from a car with heated leather sports seats they are not cold in the winter or hot in the summer like full leather and they compliment my alcantara steering wheel, gearshift and handbrake.

ORIGINAL: kitchens I am that man !![;)][;)] I contacted the seller after a few posts on PH drew my attention to it being up for sale ,as most know i already have a stunning Red one with all the right boxes ticked IMOP[;)] I contacted the seller and made an offer on the car below his original asking price he informed me that V911 had agreed to match his asking price and possibly more on seeing the car . I said i would match it but on the understanding it had to go to the OPC to get the rev ranges checked as i planned to get its major service done and put on another years warranty for peace of mind . This would have cost in the region of around £1800 so the car would have stood me close to £33K . I left it over the weekend and contacted the seller to be told and i quote his words ( It had been sold to those nice people at V911 for a price he could not refuse ) I understand they where the first to show interest in the car and the guy a business man was happy to do the deal with them may be less hassle who know's . I was a bit confused as to why one would sell to a dealer knowing he was going to make a nice profit out of the deal when a private buyer was in the wings wanting to buy it .I understand PROFIT is not a dirty word also being a business man , but it would stick in my craw . The deal was done and i moved on . I would have kept both and split the usage keeping both mileages down . In the long term i would possible sell one at some stage as TWO Spyder is pure indulgence [;)] Some would say you cannot have enough Porsches [:D][:D]. Hope this clears up any confusion
Thanks for the insight Brian. You will surely be unique if you have 2 Spyders in your stable. Your red baron is certainly worth preserving its low mileage[:)]

Some light entertainment to break the seat, wheels, g/box debate!! Worth a watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRIgmKGDqFM

March 1st tomorrow so time to plan some Spyder outings [8D] There is a special deal on tickets purchased before April for the superb Silverstone Classic and would be a great place to meet some fellow Spydermen and we can trash each others specs face to face over a beer or 99 of course as it's bound to be a heatwave weekend :ROFLMAO: I'm booked http://www.silverstoneclassic.com/

Are you sure - they look the same to me, it may just be that the pictures have been taken in different light? The solid grey car looks the business, really like that. As for Silverstone, I am going to Le Mans Classic from Wednesday 2nd to Monday 7th July. Much as Liz will enjoy the peace and quiet without me, I am not sure I will get two pass outs in such quick succession... you know the score!

Does anyone know if the wheel bolts fitted on the spyder are all the same depth. I am changing the turbo 11's to spyder lightweight alloys and wondered if i needed a new set of bolts . Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that!

that happens a lot, it may take a few years for people to come round , but I'll wait regarding Spyder specs and will take the hassle and abuse in the mean time :)
Do you not understand irony? [:D] I must admit that the spec of MrD's car really appeals to me (I've said that before) and when the other one came up for sale, I thought long and hard about buying it. But the 1000 mile car with PDK and sports seats also appeals! Of course, that's what happens when you own a car, you're always looking enviously at what else is out there! I've come to the conclusion that I'm happy with what I've got, but it won't stop me looking! [:)]
