Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

You can retrofit PSE (~£2k) and the sport function (~£500 without the dash clock). 2 year warranty is also getting up to £2k depending on whether you add Porsche assist. So at an OPC would it be £43k? Probably at the moment! Certainly low miles. It would be interesting to see what the reg is - March 10 is an early one, so if it's a Reading reg (RV?) check that it hasn't been an experience car.

No need to worry about PEC - ad says it's a local one owner car. Similar to mine with less miles but I have the sports exhaust and sports chrono and a couple of other trinkets. First button I press every time I get in my car is the sports button - I far prefer the throttle response and it reduces the risk of nannying PSM intervention when you don't need it. Given that the last 2 OPC cars that sold were £46k, I suspect this 3000 mile example may go quickly.

ORIGINAL: philnotts99 Would you miss Sports Chrono in a manual car? I have had it in my last two Porsche's and never used it. Looked nice though i guess :/....Maybe i am missing something.
I had it retro fitted, I just like the extra slip angle it gives you on the PSM without turning PSM fully off. as for the exhaust get a TI one fitted for the same price as a OPC one and forget having a warranty imo, I did not renew either of my cars. 1/2 the stuffs not covered when you get the renew form though, so did not see the point in it. I guess a buyer would need to check it's had the full 4 year service with Spark plugs and AC regas, brake fluid on that car also as it's NOW DUE. Shame about it having AC as I really don't think it goes with the car and is just hassle when it goes wrong on older cars, and starts to smell like dead cats. But as not many like this come for sale and these low miles I would buy it subject to the big 4 years service being done without any of the extras missing.

How do you turn that clock thing on? I have pushed every button I can see!

The OBC stalk? I'm sure I was looking for it there? Will have another go when I next get in it. :)

The good thing about it is that if you start it and then pause it, it actually lights up, which it normally doesn't do. It is the only good thing about it though... [;)]

ORIGINAL: philnotts99 New Spyder...Quite temped.. Buckets and low miles - http://bit.ly/1myRxho
I keep getting surprised by how many Spyders pop up with seriously few miles and this one can have an even better sports exhaust than the PSE and Chrono without the dash wart can be added too Looks like it is almost your required spec with the options that can't be changed easily ie old school gears and buckets for the backside [8D] If it isn't a million miles from you it must be worth a test drive and closer inspection[&o] I think it will sell before the other 2 cars for several reasons[:D]

ORIGINAL: tyinsky Thanks. I love the way it looks without that rear section. Probably the main pull towards buying the car. :)
Welcome tyinsky and look forward to reading your first road impressions after that 500 mile bonding experience [;)] Try some topless motoring that's what the Spyder was originally designed for ....... wind in the hair PSE in the ears does it get any better[8D]
I'll probably have the roof off at some point (occasionally). Don't really have any first impressions, or at least anything that will be new to existing Spyder owners. Wouldn't be fair to compare it to the 964 as they are so different and equally good. I did find it very easy to drive quickly around the triangle and had more confidence than in other Porsches I've driven around it (964, 997s), although that could be down do it being more familiar or whatever other factors come into play like the weather, my mood... It feels special which was something high on my list for whatever I bought. Used to have a 3.2S Boxster which although very nice, did not feel special. Love the look of it. Wasn't sure about the black wheels initially but as soon as I saw them in person I was sold on them. With the roof on and the rear section left out it looks incredible (to me). Really like the PSE, the look of that clock thing in the centre of the dash which I have no clue how to work/turn on, the sat nav is the worst I have experienced in many years, those door pull things feel really crappy to use but look lovely, I was initially going to buy a Porsche Sport steering wheel for it but not bothering now as I like the one in it (helps that it is all black - think the silver insert was my issue), short shift seems good although it will take me a while to get fully used to the changes being so close. Rear visibility is awesome - reversing has never been easier! ;) At first it didn't feel as quick as I expected, but in reflection I think it is. Basically just really thrilled with it. Had a brief moment of "what am I doing?" on Friday night before collecting it. Bought unseen of the internet, has already transferred a large amount of money to someone who I had never met, for a car I had not looked at in person or had inspected. Luckily for me it was Cecil! :) Taking it to Wales for the weekend was probably the best thing I could of done. Getting a new car is a great day as it is, probably the most memorable in the ownership timeline, so combining it with a two day road trip was perfect. Great roads courtesy of Andy's recommendations and maps, good weather, excellent B&B with a tasty breakfast, Police escort to the pub complete with blue lights (couldn't find it on the satnav so they kindly helped me out - struggled to keep up!), train ride 2/3rds of the way up Snowdon and a 2-hour walk back down. Tea and cakes in the Ugly House Tea Rooms and a wee in a compost toilet. Can't remember the last time I overtook as many cars. By the time I got back the wind noise from behind my right ear was tiring (doesn't seem as bad on the passenger side?) but other than that more than happy. Hopefully I will get chance to take it out for an hour at the weekend.
Great to hear. I think you did the right thing going straight to some driving roads. If you'd have gone straight home 250 miles on the M6 / M1, that journey might have been quite an anti-climax[:)] If you're not doing so already, be sure to take the revs over 4000rpm to get that slight second surge from the variable Cam; that's how to unlock the speed[;)]

Sit down and read the instructions it is simples to use ..even i can get it to work but to be honest never used it in earnest . Sat Nav is also a waste unless like yours it came fitted better with a £100 Tom Tom Hope you are enjoying your car it is a good one .

BigE you're funny[:D] You need to learn some smuggling techniques[;)]

Would live to but it's a bit far. Zyp might join you. A convoy of white Spyders would look amazing! Just back from Macan launch. Unlimited free booze, tasty food and very warm welcome at Bolton. It looks like this:

DP said they sold a Spyder earlier in the year without advertising it. Wished he had 4 in the showroom as he'd sell them all. Was invited to go and choose a replacement and they'd SOR mine for best possible price... Then drove it home and still in love...

ORIGINAL: rob.kellock Apparently they have a spare hood in if anyone needs one!
Hoods not much use without a car to store it in :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Personally I think some OPC's like having a Spyder in the showroom it's a magnet and talking piece whilst trying to sell something less exclusive from their stock piles From day one Spyders may have been hard work to shift compared to a stock 987 but they always generated good showroom traffic and lots of interest Now that will only increase and ramp up with the passage of time
