Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Chateau Impney at the national event - see p18 of Porsche Post for a picture of my lad picking up a podium place on the driving simulator!

ORIGINAL: flat6 I'm no doubt in the minority, running a Spyder as a daily driver and so will struggle to keep my car as clean as yours, despite regularly cleaning it[:)]. I want to get my money's worth out of it, but will be gutted if I pick up any damage. Parking in the end bay in car parks so that I can park 12 inches outside space and well away from the next car. Hanging back in traffic to avoid stone chips[:D]. The Boxster shape was not for me over a Cayman, but the Spyder was a different proposition. At some point in the future I hope to promote it to garage queen, but i'd need another Porsche to enjoy on the bad weather days[:D]

I take my "sun cap" off to Flat6 you are certainly in a very unique club with a Spyder but one being used daily is EXTRA ordinary!   If you treat her like I do my daily driver i.e. keep cleaning it after every filthy day out and even if the weather is set poor for an entire week or weeks then wash the crap off every single day you won't be that far behind my pampered example or my mint daily driver but you may be a little more personally washed out :ROFLMAO:
Cheers daro911. As you say, i'll be washed out. I need to employ my 7yr old son on the job[:D] I've put 5000 miles on it in 8 months but the novelty hasn't worn off. The free revving engine encourages you to press on. I never saw the point of PSE before having one but it encourages you to thrust beyond 4000 rpm to hear it sing and add to the drama. I wouldn't pay for PSE if I was buying new but I certainly have it more on than off [:)] and if I forget, my son pushes the button. Not so good when you don't realise he's done it and you're rushing to take him to school in the morning. The neighbours can't have been pleased with that[:-]

Ah yes, I see him. A budding driving enthusiast [;)] I played it last year. It wasn't easy - good on him. Unfortunately I couldn't make it to Chateau Impney or R5's Porsche at Arley Hall. Maybe next year.

It certainly wasn't easy - a day of mixed emotions for me - obviously I was proud of the boy but not happy that he beat my time [:D][:D][:D]

ORIGINAL: rob.kellock And one of the 5 on Pistonheads is the Nottingham OPC car!
Good point well argued we are down to just FOUR! [:)] Now if you want a 981 Autotrader currently have 15 to bid on and rising [;)]

ORIGINAL: rob.kellock Just the red car left at Nottingham. Almost identical spec to mine save for the colour and the painted roll over hoops. One of the very earliest cars too - March 2010. Perfect day for Spydering. Early morning mist finally being burned away by the sunshine. Have fun!
Drove the Red Nottingham car last week! Totally smitten now! Good spec and just missing the Heated Sports seats. I doubt this will be on the market for long - I watched people walk into the show without exception they all headed for Spyder. Most were then steered elsewhere by the wife. When we walked into the showroom I headed for the Gents - when I came out my wife (who had not seen a Spyder before) said she really liked the look of the car in the Centre of the showroom. Guess which one that was? So what colours were available? I've seen Red,Silver,White, Blue and Black.
John, How's it going negotiating on the last Spyder [;)] Go on, take it away and you will go down in history on this thread[:D] 4 left on PH. We'll have to start watching those next[:)]

Maundrell at Wantage, Oxon have a black Spyder with 12,600 miles for £36,950. My brother bought a Boxster S from them last Spring and delighted with car. Simon 986 1998 AS/MB/MB

Cecil Drove and very impressed with red car at Nottingham - Sales person was not up for negotiating on car. I guess we would have said yes but the car has to have heated seats! So spec I'm looking for is 1) Red, Black or white (in that order) 2) Sports Heated Seats 3) Manual 4) Sports Exhaust 5) Chrono Pack Items 1-through 5 are must have Nice to have items are Sat Nav Climate etc etc I've gone down in History a few times[&o]but dont want to be the one who brings this thread to a close. 91 posts and still going[;)] I'm not in a rush - the right car will come along (let me know if you see one) - its just a matter of time[8|]

John, If it were me I would substitute 4) and 5) must have options as PCM and Climate. I didn't spec my present car(not a Spyder), got it few weeks old and swore PCM was a waste of money but have found it very useful for the traffic info and in Europe to find PCGB hotels.[;)] Climate should be standard fit as the air cond. panel is awful, IMO. Sports Exhaust and Chrono nice to have but wouldn't stop me. Enjoy the hunt. Chris

I guess when it's the last one for sale in the country at an OPC they won't be in a rush to negotiate but it would be very brave of them to refuse a serious offer at this time of year. Have you asked about putting heated seats in it? I'm 99% sure an OPC swapped the seats on a Spyder for a chap on Pistonheads. For me, the buckets are a fundemental part of the Spyder experience and the absence of bum warmers has never really bothered me. I appreciate however that the whole point of the optional extras is that they indulge personal preferences!

Hi John Good luck with the hunt. Bear in mind that if you find one without sport chrono, it is a standard retro-fit option. You just don't get the 'dashboard wart', which you'll probably never use.

New to the Market - Black with Red interior something a little different[;)] http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/boxster-987-05-current/porsche-boxster-987-gen-ii-spyder-2011/836139

Very different indeed but unfortunately the private seller is asking OPC money [&o] For some really different specs checkout this link http://www.dspyda.com/Owner_Profiles/Owner_Profiles.html

Another element of the 'topsy-turvy' Spyder market. Private seller's don't do their research on prices [&:] He doesn't give away much about the spec, but no reason to think the car wouldn't tick most of the right boxes. Unfortunately for you they're only coming up with buckets. When I was buying it was about 50:50 with sports seats. Is it particularly the seat heating you want, rather than the comfort of sports seats versus the buckets? (I know seat heating isn't available with buckets).

Its the Heated Seats that are required - Does anyone know if heated seats could be retro fitted to the bucket seats?
