Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

ORIGINAL: flat6 Is it particularly the seat heating you want, rather than the comfort of sports seats versus the buckets? (I know seat heating isn't available with buckets).
Its the Heated Seats that are required - Does anyone know if heated seats could be retro fitted to the bucket seats?

daro911. Anything is possible on the after market, but I never thought of that one[:-] I'd hazard a guess that the thinly padded, carbon fibre backed buckets would be butchered if someone tried to squeeze heaters into them. Buy a heated cushion for those cold days [:D]

flat6 ... Good points well argued I never considered the carbon element not to metion the 2 years warranty the car comes with[&o]

ORIGINAL: rob.kellock Am worried now. Have you two boys both got heavyweight seats and satnav? [disappointed] [;)]
I bought my car at 1000 miles with a substantial saving on original list but had I not been at Silverstone PEC the year before and asked my instructor the following question I would not have bought my actual example Q: Can you tell the difference between a serious lightweight like the one we were in at that moment and a serious heavyweight like we were in earlier because I can't [&o] A: Absolutely not but if I did a timed lap in each the lightweight may come in 0.01 second faster. In the seat of the pants and absolute feel there is no noticeable difference at all between the pair Armed with that information I was relaxed when 12 months later I decided I could no longer resist getting into the "web club" but for reasons of financial sanity I decided to go for a very low miles example for the first time in my then 10 Porsche's to date CV I bought a used example and made the substantial saving off list which even to my personal spec new which would have run out at circa £54k (My used car ran out at circa £58k new) Had I pesrsonally not driven the 2 extremes and asked the question I would never have bought my actual car and carried on looking for something with far less kit & weight onboard [:)] PCM Including Navigation Module, PCM Telephone Module, Sport Chrono Package Plus, Sport Shifter, Sports Exhaust System, Self Dimming Inner and Outer Mirrors, Rear Parking Assistance, Heated Seats, Automatic Air Conditioning, Carrera White Instrument Dials, Leather Sport Seats, Full Leather Interior,Porsche Sound Package, Universal Audio Interface, Coloured Wheel Centres, Cup Holders, Roll Over Bar in Exterior Colour, Porsche VTS Tracker, UK Supplied, Cost over £57000 New

It's all about buying the right car for you at the right time. I bought a stock car and whilst no discount was afforded, my Carrera 4 was worth more in part exchange than I could have sold it for. I do like the bucket seats although I would have preferred a car with PCM3 fitted. I'm not sure I'd put too much stock in the opinion of the PEC consultants (depending on who and what it was) - They are all bloody good drivers but my group of 4 each had very different experiences yesterday. To acquire the anoraky level of product knowledge that we PCGB members have takes years of practice! The weight thing is completely academic for me in real life as I rarely drive mine without a passenger and no aircon delete, ceramic brakes, lightweight battery or aircon delete will compensate for what my wife packs on a weekend away or the ever growing hulk of my teenage son!

Ha ha!Yep a full fat Spyder i'm afraid[8D]. I had a list of 'must haves' but had to shorten the list due to scarcity of used cars. Then I ended up with one with a long list! Similar list price to daro911's no doubt. Full Black leather interior 19-inch Boxster Spyder Wheel - an absolute must for me 6-speed manual transmission Carrara White instrument dials Cruise control Floor mats Fully automatic climate control Heated seats - I use the seat heaters every now and again but wouldn't miss them at all Porsche Communication Management (PCM) including navigation module Porsche crest embossed on head restraints Sound Package Plus including CD storage Sport Chrono Package Plus Sports exhaust system - haven't worked out how much it has dented my fuel economy, always wanting to hear it sing above 4000 rpm. These things should not be allowed[:D] Sports seats - I would've really liked buckets, the tighter the seats hold you, the more connected you feel to the car's movements. But, needed to fit a child seat, so became an absolute must to get sports seats[]. Though, the extra shoulder support on the sports seat over a standard seat (experienced on loaners) makes a big difference and i'm able make do[:)] Steering column casing leather - why oh why oh why?[&:] Telephone module for PCM Universal audio interface Wheel centre set Wheels painted in Black - bonus! Sport Shifter - got them to fit this before I picked the car up. Took home the original shifter because, erm, well, i'd paid for both of them[:D]

At least you haven't got those very heavy cup holders or have you missed those off the list? [&:] From a practical touring point of view you may also wish you had the larger fuel tank.

I don't have the cup holders in mine. I would've liked Park Assist and Auto-dimming mirrors though [:)]

ORIGINAL: jdpef356 Your all web crazy you lot - Spyder and World Wide - how can so few owners generate so may posts?[;)][;)]
An interesting phenomenon! This must be the longest thread the Boxster forum has ever seen. Two and a half years since the Spyder was launched and 15 months since they stopped making them! Besides, you shouldn't have time to keep looking on here, you should be out finding a car to join the Web with. For the sake of completeness, mine has as standard: Carrara white Spyder alloys Manual gears Carbon fibre backed bucket seats with additional: Sports exhaust Sports chrono Sound system plus Aux in (iPod socket) Bluetooth mobile phone prep Reverse parking sensors Climate control Coloured wheel centres Cruise control Porsche mats And no cupholders!

You're Spyder has Climate. It's close to full fat [:D] Yeah it's funny how the interest is ramping up so long after. I guess the best potential classics take time to get recognised[:)] Here's hoping the last OPC car goes this weekend - John[;)] They've even knocked off the princely sum of £530 from last week's price[&:] You can buy some warm pants with the saving[:D]

For those wanting slim ..... there is a Cayman R without radio and A/C, it even has PCCBs and the lightweight battery on the OPC network list.

ORIGINAL: rob.kellock It also has a metal roof [:D][:D] They are nice but just not the same!
Plus we have that sexy curvy rear end which didn't come cheap to the development party I am sure [8D]

Agreed. Also nice to see the badge delete to confuse passers by and compensate for the heavyweight spec!

Now you young Spyders have given us old spyders the Hump![;)]
I've never seen that before. Looks good. Interesting to think that the Carrera GT shape inspired all of this and still is. Will a 981 Spyder (if there is one) take design cues from the Carrera GT or the 918 Spyder[8|] Your car looks flawless, a credit to you[:)]
