Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

GTS Cayman would be a all round car for me replacing every thing, so I would spec it high like a few have over on PS at well over 70k (73.5k) 2k is for the GTS pack alone, why buy a GTS but not have the GTS pack ? if you don't want a GTS pack car spec up a normal car it's far cheaper. But a GTS car needs the GTS pack imo. big shame about the sports design wheel also, the new Macan has the 918 type sports wheel whick is uber cool a bit like the new mk3 TT if Audi get the mk3 TT right it's going to be a bargin of a car VS a Cayman

GTS pack Only in combination with standard leather/Alcantara interior: Seams in contrasting colour, seat belt edges in contrasting colour, GTS logo stitched to headrest in contrasting colour, floor mats with black surround with the seams and Porsche logo in contrasting colour. Trim on switch panel, door panel and centre console in Carbon has to be done on the gts

Oh, so that's what it is. I expected the car would at least look a bit like the launch pics as standard and then you spend money adding options onto that, but alas, it's a bit disappointing in that regard. Imagine if Porsche said that one had to pay for Peridot on the R - would make it a bit of a false presentation on launch. Oh well, I shouldn't be surprised[&o]

Don't forget the buckets are ££ PCM if you ever want to sell it. Can't spec PCM without sound system plus £, Bose ££ or Burmester £££ lady parking to protect the bumper magic wipers and dimming mirrors (standard on most BMWs for at least 10 years) cruise for motorway roadworks No discount for speccing sports suspension which is ££ cheaper than PASM normally non-silver wheels if you want to be trendy £ coloured wheel centres if you don't want to be a cheapskate twin zone climate control - or you don't get climate at all It goes on and on...

Yikes!!!!!!! I ticked on the Carmine stitching with Alcantara for £0.00 and thought that is too good to be true. Then it pops up that you have to have the GTS pack for £2K. Nice move Porsche! I didn't go any further. It would have been nice to have had at least one unique colour in the standard colours of a special edition model i.e. the Carmine Red. So some of us will be waiting for bankers to buy them and supply the used market in a year or two. Trouble is, a bankers spec may not be a Porsche driving enthusiast's spec. No offence to bankers, just being flippant and that was the first profession that came into my head.[:)]

But is it really worth £30k to change from a R at that price level a 2010 997.2 Pdk turbo could be had or a 2010 c2s with change to buy a 2009 cayman 2.9

the GTS pack is the most stupid thing to ever happen imo on this car, it should have been standard for the 6k more it is (6k is a guess cannot be arsed to go see) no GTS pack will kill resale on these babies, or will def make them harder to sell over a car like for like with GTS pack. it's a £59k base spec car imo with no extra bar red and GTS pack. base spec red normal S with the same bits, PASM, PSE, sports stering wheel, xenons, sports seats, seems to be £54,5k So cannot see the GTS as very good value over a normal car ;-(

There'll be a dozen plus ex-PEC and press cars up for grabs within 6 to 9 months. New tyres, immaculately prepped at Porsche HQ, under warranty, all the extras you can imagine for free. If you're really lucky, you could even get your initials on the number plate for free - historically, many of them will have "RK" plates!!

cannot ever quote old and new prices my R was a 68k car, it's got every thing bar pccb ;-9 but hell of a lot of kit. My R is now over 3 years old and needs MOT's A new GTS would be ... well new ;-) you could say buy a GTS or buy a F430 ! buy a GTS or buy a Bentley GT news car are not for me, on the money I take home, but you have to look at like for like and the R speced up was a lot of £££

Don't forget sports chrono, full leather and 20" wheels... also standard on GTS.

I also added the wheels and sports crono to that 54.5k price, but did not add full leather. still makes the GTS seem poor value over specing a normal Cayman S, but you loose the GTS snob value of course and the better resale later. I like the car , just cannot forgive the 2k GTS pack price option on a GTS car !

Spyderwhite, yep, better to compare like for like i.e. new against new. You are right though that used cars look way more compelling against this, but it's not a true comparison. To upgrade from a Spyder or R to a 981 'S' with a few options is still megabucks. MrD, the Carmine Red is not even standard!! It's £1595 + VAT just to get the 'standard' launch colour!! That was my point, imagine if you had to pay for Peridot on the 987 R. As you say it doesn't stack up well. People said the Spyder and R were pricey but if the 981 Spyder and R are priced up in this way like the GTS, they will be very expensive indeed. I expect they will get buckets and Sport Chassis as standard but priced accordingly!

some rumors have the next power models only 10k less than a GT3 will Porsche bring big BHP to the 981 platform In the form of 4 pot hybrid turbos, yes it's a given but any time soon, nope.

what i am trying to get at is £70+k is a lot of money for the gts.over what the new Spyder/R were!most came in new with options such as nav, chrono etc for circa £60k.my spyder is fully loaded and came in at £58kish but i didnt pay anywhere near that, like many others new and pre regd new spyder/r were up for discounted prices so most only paid about £50-55k new and some could have be had for less than £45k back in late 2011 early 2012.even the 911 gts back in mid/late 2011 could be had for less than £70k and i even had the chance to purchase a pre regd new C2s for circa £60k!or a 500 mile aqua blue gts for £59995! imho they should have come with a lot more as standard ie buckets! all in all it just shows what good value the spyder/r were! so when i compare with say a low mileage 2010/11 911 turbo i am talking value for money even on piston heads classifieds there is a nearly new (400mile) 2013 pdk c2s for £77k. so imho £70k+ for a gts is just not value for money and unless you have a pre gen2 boxster/cayman i cannot see the point changing to one unless of course your moving from cab to coupe or visa versa i would rather have this than the cayman gts better link http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/911-carrera-997/911-997-carrera-coupe-gts-2dr/2302873

I agree that GTS is stunning and it saves you enough to add a set of bespoke Ohlins dampers on it. Although it's also top price for a GTS

imho all 911 gts are highly priced against the standard c2s but how many riveria blue gts are there?it must have been close to £90k new so bit of a bargain with such low miles!
