Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

ORIGINAL: Tim R Hi. I am the very happy new owner of the red spyder (yes I love the coulor )from 911v and yes I have found my way on here. I have a feeling I could upset some people as I know she is higher mileage than a lot and I don't care as I love driving her and seeing the attention she gets (dirty red Sonia is her name! Lol). I will be taking her down to the Le-Mans 24 hr shortly and was wondering if I would be the only Spyder to make the trip? I understand some people want to keep the mileage down but I can't get the grin off my face when driving here!!!
ORIGINAL: daro911 This one went super quick despite the mileage .... Must be the colour that sold it [:D] http://www.911virgin.com/porscheforsale/566/987Gen2BoxsterSpyder/

Phil, you can paint breeze blocks with a vinyl emulsion. Good idea to prime the walls with PVA which means they will not soak up so much paint. PVA is a cheap sealer used on concrete floors etc, usually get it in about 5 litres and it is clear can be diluted with water and sloshed on as it soaks in and seals the concrete in the blocks.
ORIGINAL: philnotts99 Thank you for the replies and pics. I see that most have normal bricks where i have breezeblock walls. Any idea if i need a different type of paint? How did you apply yours? Spray gun, brush, roller? Cheers, Phil.

ORIGINAL: philnotts99 I think i get why you need to go topless now! [8D] Oh and i now understand the best kept secret!! [:D]
was it you I saw on Wheatcroft island about 11:10am this morning? I waved but I was just disappearing around the island so don't know if you saw me. Lovely day for it!
I was about at that time, i was heading towards Rutland on the A606... I never saw any other Spyders though. Saw 1 Viper green Cayman R though out there.

If you do use a Clear PVA add some colour tint (In this case white) otherwise its a job to see where you have/have not applied.

Picture from yesterday of the Spyder. I can honestly say this is the best Porsche i have driven for all round fun and sound. I was following two motorbikes back from Rutland to Nottingham and the ease of which the Spyder was over taking slow moving traffic was fantastic!

Congratulations! There's a few garage queens on here but there's also plenty of cars that get out and get driven. I've now put 5k miles on mine since August and have two more Euro jaunts planned this year including Le Mans Classic. Because of it's uniqueness the Spyder will always attract people who want to keep the car low mileage and IF they become future classics then they will be very happy reaping the rewards (and good luck to them). In the mean time we're the ones that are very happy getting to rag our cars around tracks and alpine passes and use the car like it's designed to be used. [:D]

there is also the "happy"medium if and when i manage to get mine i intend to do at least one swiss trip a year as we have done in the prev porsche. usually around 2k miles average use around 5 k miles a year-over 10 years that means 50k miles-still low enough to preserve a fair value i would say

That's what I did - 22k miles in 4 years. No right or wrong answers really, whatever floats people's boats. Mine picked up a prize at a PCGB concours, toured France and was thoroughly enjoyed.

ORIGINAL: philnotts99 Just going off track slightly.... Has anyone here painted there garage walls and floor? I think my Spyder deserves a nice place to be.. Currently i have concrete floor and breezeblock walls. Any ideas, tips, materials, pics would be much appreciated!!

spend the money on the car get some better tyres , brake pads and a geo, not garage stuff. If in any doubt come and drive mine and see what they can really do. oem car is very normal imo over what it can be with a few geo tweeks and pads. why any one even drives oem is beond me on cars like these. I have two so you can drive the car with SS tyres and RS 29 pads and be blown away over a stock one. Both my cars have upgraded tyres, pads, Geo's etc RS 29 pads will knock 15 meters off your braking distance as an example. Tyres and geo will up your corner speed 10 fold.

Just a bit! Spend £20 on driver instruction and corner speed goes up no end! MrD, don't forget Phil's car is under warranty for the next 2 years.

Can someone tell me why this is my view of this forum? Is it the size of this picture that's fubar'd it? (It's bloody annoying!)

Had a great day out yesterday went to the largest Classic show in Scotland over 1500 exhibits .....asked to take my car into the arena to display and was asked all about the car by Sir David Steel a life long classic enthusiast and judge ...gave the whole spiel Ltd edition car only 230 RH drive made and mine is one of only two red ones in Scotland .....sorry no pics but hood down all the time the car was gleaming and attracted a lot of thumbs up .We had 16 cars on our Tipec stand a nice mix on display .. Another show next weekend lets hope for another sunny day [;)][;)] one of my car taken by some one http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa45/duffster32/Thirlestane%20Castle%20June%202014/2005_0114ThirlestaneJunt20140128_zps964c58b6.jpg

You should know better , looking at your tyres :). Geo is every thing /-) Porsche did my geo and warranty not an issue, like wise my car goes back to the OPC all the time not had n spec tyres for years. Brakes are not really a warranty item either and he does not need to renew any time soon so no 111 check to pass. Transforms the car, did you not think my Spyder felt good at Anglesey and I don't even drive it that hard. Brakes, tyres, geo transforms these cars to real sports cars imo. I see he 981 GTS comes fitted with some nice rubber, again helps these reviews on it.
