Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

He's only right!! [:D] And to find out how well balanced it is (Same as the R) turn off the PSM and drive it properly [;)]

Ahem - there was nothing wrong with my Spyder tyres... My new Pirellis are, however, still, erm, recovering from Anglesey! Yours, of course, goes very well. Ceramics impressed for sure. Phil has only just got round to dropping the roof, let him enjoy what he has whilst he bonds with it [:D]

As I need four new tyres, Nots OPC were adamant that they could not put a new warranty on my car with Michelin SS fitted. I'd like to try them and they're only a few quid more than PS2's. David - you had no problems with Leicester or don't you have the warranty? I forget.

My opinion of the Michelin SS are that they are a good road tyre but only a very average track tyre. To me they are only marginally better than the sports but nowhere near the Pirelli Trofeo's, although the Trofeo's take a few laps to warm up and until then BEWARE!!

ORIGINAL: Tim R Hi. I am the very happy new owner of the red spyder (yes I love the coulor )from 911v and yes I have found my way on here. I have a feeling I could upset some people as I know she is higher mileage than a lot and I don't care as I love driving her and seeing the attention she gets (dirty red Sonia is her name! Lol). I will be taking her down to the Le-Mans 24 hr shortly and was wondering if I would be the only Spyder to make the trip? I understand some people want to keep the mileage down but I can't get the grin off my face when driving here!!! ner with the balance of an extended Porsche warranty through until
Hi Tim, I'll be taking mine too. Heading over on Friday morning, which is a bit later than usual but hey-ho. Do continue to use it, life is too short not too. All these chaps driving the prices up with their garage queens will only help the depreciation of ours anyway [;)]

I had issues in the end with SS and OPC they refused to fit them, well the front ones. but they always did warranty ok. I did not renew warranty either , it would be 4k for bother so don't see the point, my cars are more modded also, and I hate Porsche batteries and the cost of them. But things are moving forward I though Michelin would give you a letter stating the are ok for your Porsche and outperform PS2 in every way. Agree with Andy not a track tyre,(make a good wet tyre though for sprints I would say) but on the road nothing comes close imo, they heat up fast so give the grip and just last ages.

They make a good wet tyre only because there is nothing else in 19", although I found the Trofeo ok in the wet too once up to temp. You're right about them wearing well though. They will take some stick and still look good which seems baffling [&:]

Its coming on nicely. I know OPC Notts are very funny about "mods" and the warranty!

Les Purnell’s recently-acquired car along with Ted Walker’s beside the Bristol Britannia at Kemble, prior to driving to Cornbury House last weekend.

Les's interior is very red! Just visible here, the instrument cowls are also finished in white.

Les's car has various options, a few of which can be seen.

Very nice pair and just visible are the white door release surrounds white roll bars and most important the "Boxster" deletion on rear lid saving even more weight and halving the cleaning task around those awkward to clean letters [:D]

ORIGINAL: ted walker Does the "Boxster deletion" make up for the added weight of the "fatboy seats" ????????????
No but the added weight from the seats doesn't affect the cars handling as they are low down [:D] but the "Boxster" deletion is 7 less fiddly letters to try and clean around especially on a white car[;)]

I'll post up a review on my Cup2 tyres once the front have been fitted by my OPC. Rears look good but wish I went up to 275's on the rear (245 front) , they look very different without the rim protector. again decent pads are a good upgrade, Will try MXRS next from endless.

CUP 2's must be the must have track tyre now. I am well pleased with RS29 but are endless pads about £800 or some thing daft. best keep oem trye size the added weight of a bigger tyre can be felt, and the car does not need any more rear grip.

There's a thread on PH where GT3 RS owners/watchers are quoting prices increasing right now between £3k - £10k per month. I know the Spyder is no GT3 RS but if GT3 prices are going so crazy buyers who are priced out of that market will be turning to alternatives - Spyders will fit that bill (especially those that share certain features with GT3 RS e.g. manual, bucket seats) so, as with this example, I expect we will be seeing prices creep up and hold.
