Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

ORIGINAL: Siy I have been away for last 3 weeks... so missed quiet a bit. I am now Spyder-less... Mine sold for a fraction below the asking price, and was collected last week - one very happy new owner. I pointed him here, so he may be along soon. Just shows though - people are starting to realise how good these cars are... and they like them full fat with all the extras! [][:)]
Welcome back and as an ex Spyderman always pop by and post too Good luck with the replacement whatever she maybe

You did very well to get that price, well done. Just goes to show what ball-c*cks all this "collectors purist launch spec" rubbish is. Did you end up doing a "deal" with the warranty? Is the new owner going to retain your modifications?

yes... a touch under £45k.... and he liked the WeissGold - is definitely keeping it that way (which I was pleased about!) Sold without warranty - seriously guys... I know I am gonna start some people off again - but everyone wants what they want - I am pretty sure I wouldnt have got that price if it wasnt fully loaded, and with the obvious 'important' bits. Am missing her already - I will prob get another one in a year or two - when they are 60 grand!! Happy Spydering - I will still be here, if no-one minds!!! Searching for a Bentley GTC now - not exactly lightweight.... that will be a change!!!!

But if you repeat something often enough some fools might start to believe it, however tiresome it is! [8|] On Pistonheads, Porsche 'experts' are already talking about so called 'pure' spec cars being more desirable, but the market has consistently shown it ain't true! [:D]

To be fair everyone is looking for a different spec, each one has it's merits, I think the only item that we can all agree on is Spyder wheels. Would i love my Spyder any less if it was a different spec, probably not. Its horses for courses, we choose the cars we drive. There will be a buyer for each type of spec out there.

USA, USA, USA USA, Spyder threads over the pond is all manual love and bucket love. long live the manual, it's very rewarding for the enthusiast market. I guess if the USA did not like stick shift it would have gone by now.

go and look at Porsche figures on manual sold vs manual in the UK sold, they like Auto's in barge format but a larger % of Porsche cars are sold manual than UK sell manual. it seems we want it easy, and driving is no longer rewarding and fun. well I am with Chris Harris all the way and in fact just about all the EVO crew who all own older manual cars. really shows what type of car person you are deep down. but I am in the "Walter Röhrl " camp

New Page NO NEW Spyder Pic![]

Think the majority prefer them that way.

ORIGINAL: Rocket Man full fat or skinny, ther is buyers for all and all are going up in price
HEAR HEAR and those are the facts as confirmed by all my stats collated to date. So lets put this one to bed and agree to disagree if we must but ANY SPEC Spyder will find a home at the current market price irrespective of what seats, gears, wheels, and ticked extra boxes[:)] and it appears even the mileage isn't as bigger price killer as some including myself have imagined it to be As the years thunder by and the choice for sale at any given moment in time becomes harder and harder to find the overall condition and history will be the price deciding factor first and foremost in any buyers eyes

Amazing. I have a pretty high-spec car and am wondering what to do with it if that sort of price is achievable for a private sale.

yes - agree - its a great price... had 5k miles, and was in extremely good condition... a little gold splash here and there, but nothing tacky... its the second time I actually made money on a car that I bought to drive - the last being my F430 Spider.... These little Boxster Spyder gems will reach 50k I think - and agree - its down to low mileage and condition. there will be the right buyer for the right car. I didnt want to sell but needed more seats - so Bentley GTC next - now I guarantee I dont make money on that one!!!

And if you remove "car" from that sentence, it really sums you up!
what car do you drive now ? and how many miles did you and Siy do in your spyders ? both PDK I might add, both did not last long did they ! Also not many here change the oem geo, says it all really. and people are scared to even fit PSS and stay with N spec. I have petrol for blood....

Weren't you considering garaging your Spyder to keep the miles off it? I wonder what type of car person I am - I've had two Caterhams and now have a Spyder PDK (and I've done more miles in it than you have in your manual car....) I don't think there is any correlation between length of ownership, mileage and gearbox. To suggest that there is is rather daft, don't you think? I can immediately think of three high-ish mileage cars (40k+), two of which are PDK.
