Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Calm down chaps! Can't we just have a nice corner of the internet where there is no bickering, and petty insults? I thought that stuff belonged on Pistonheads [:D]

I'm surprised the spec debate rages on and on with the same points being repeated, and repeated[:D] Makes me wonder if the Spyder will reach true cult status when the owners can't agree on its desirabilty. Ok, maybe most owners agree that all the spec flavours are selling for similar money. It was never marketed as a track animal though, more a California weather, exhilarating sports car.

I wonder how many of the 200 odd Spyders have ever seen a track As you rightly say it was never marketed as a track day special[&o]more just an exotic looking driver focussed Boxster special

I used to look after the battery with the Porsche conditioner, available at OPC. The CTEK unit Rob has linked to is the same product with a different badge. The battery in your car is original.

Rob I actually have been using this one from Porsche since the mid 1990's! Plug into wall other plug into power socket job done. No fancy lights, programmes etc just one red light that goes off as soon as battery is at right level. Works a treat and extended my battery life on my then Speedster from 3 years to over 7 years when I sold the car with the same battery still going strong Funnily enough the price today is what Porsche AFN charged me back in the 1990's

Thanks for the replies ... Just to confirm it's - CTEK MXS 5.0T Battery Charger with Automatic Temperature Compensation Thanks Phil Ps. It's getting very well looked after Rob!

ORIGINAL: kitchens And a bargain with the 3.8 engine ...not many around [;)] No note of the mileage
Brian it says mileage in the advert 12300. The 3.8 is either a typo or the fact they are famous Lotus/Morgan dealership hence my surprise they have a Spyder [:D] but no surprise at their lack of actual correct facts [&o]

Should have gone to Spec Savers [:D][:D]

I think all but one poster agrees that there isn't a spec "debate" and that people have differing requirements - horses for courses. The cars are fundamentally so similar such that spec is largely irrelevant to most, hence cars of all colours, flavours and specs selling for good money. It seems to me that in fact spec makes very little difference and the spread of prices reflects mileage more than anything else. Problems only arise when posters wish to argue that their spec is "better" (when in fact it's only better for them) and that somehow makes them a better type of "car person" (whatever that means).

Very true Billy well said. Yes everyones needs are different and they get the spec that suits there own needs. So not really anything to debate further. We all know what a different spec car is and does and to a degree does effect prices to a certain degree. Mileage is the biggest price kicker more is less Yes some people are seeking higher miles for the budget reason so your right regards higher mileage brings lower prices as we all know. At least someone on a lower budget may get to experience a Spyder with higher mileage. Cliff
