Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Wish I could have seen you putting the roof up for the first time Rob.[&:] I could have given you a hand! Did you get a photo with the sun cap on?

I missed a trick there as I removed said item immediately the judge had inspected the "headlining!"[:D] But even worse I had a small crowd all eagerly watching as I struggled to get it on and then back off neatly folded into the hood well[:-] I am probably on Youtube such was the interest[:D][:D][:D]

I did threaten this before but my Spyder is now for sale. Absolutely the purist spec, very rare in this configuration. Fantastic condition. White; Spyder wheels, manual; short shifter; bucket seats; PCCB (10% wear on pads); No air con; no radio; leather trim to dashboard & doors;10k miles; 12 months Porsche warranty; 4 year major service just done; 12 months MOT; new battery; excellent condition all round. Will be going on Pistonheads soon. PM me for anymore details.

Good luck with the sale - you will miss it when its gone. Well done on the podium finish Rob. I understand the judging sheets will be emailed out so your curiosity can be satisfied. I sneaked a look at the results sheet and you got about 30 points more than me - which is about the handicap I needed as the only concours entrant to do the track day on Friday and no access to a garage or a hosepipe!

Thanks Rob I will let you see mine when it arrives .. You were a good sport entering with so little time to prep your beauty but as I had been flood fighting Friday night and all day Saturday and possibly again Sunday turning up to the event after all and finishing the car that morning 2 hours before judging is something I ideally would never ever do. I always use to arrive and remove journey wear & tear and leave it at that. Finshing cars at an event is not the way to start the concours day for me at least[&o] http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/flash-floods-hit-east-london-after-torrential-rain-and-hail-9744700.html http://www.london24.com/news/storms_cause_flash_flooding_in_east_london_1_3777495#3

Well done to all you guys who got your cars out on display for the adoring public. Brian (kitchens) the other week and now Rob K, Rob S (Daro) and John (jdpef356). I haven't done it for a while. Certainly great days out, looking at other metal that you rarely get to see, whilst others look at yours. Daro, your 5 minute roof assembly will not have helped those who were teetering on the edge of considering a Spyder!

Yes, you did very well to attend at all. I know splitting the top 3 cars is very difficult for the judges - there were some exceptional cars there.

Good luck with the sale Darrell. Of the people who post on here and have really enjoyed owning a Spyder we've had a relatively large proportion of those owners sell up for sale in the last couple of months. It would be interesting for the sellers to share their reasons why. I appreciate that for some it is personal and will be thinking "buzz off" [:)] I'll start with my own. I sold because I had reached my own personal threshold mileage of 25000 miles so I decided to sell on the right side of mileage and remaining service / warranty before having to consider those expenditures again, with higher mileage come that time. Coupled with that I had always wanted to try a 911 and a turbo at that. The gen 1 997 was my favourite blend, so there was only a few years window left to pick up one under a 2 year OPC warranty before the latest ones would become too old in 2017. So the time felt right sell the Spyder and scratch that turbo itch. Why have others sold / are selling?

I joined the Board and its a 316 mile round trip, largely motorway, to Cornbury House. The Cayman is rather better at that than the Spyder. That said, if I could have kept it, I would. I miss mine.

I did explain the roof had never been fitted since leaving the showroom so I think I was forgiven for being a novice Sun Cap fitter[8D]

Rob I think this is what our American counterparts often refer to as "matching numbers" [8|]

Over three days at Brands, apart from the Concours entry and the black car for sale there didn't appear to be any others except Ted Walker's. Did we miss any?

These are fabulous cars and I'm sure I will miss it if it goes. I'm buying a property and the sale will release some capital which will come in handy and I'm hoping to go racing again next year so need the garage space. If I had the luxury of plenty of cash and lot's more garage space it wouldn't be going as it's a special car and I'm covinced these will continue to strengthen in value over time. If I get a fair price for it now then I'll be sad to see it go, if not it will stay, I'll find something else to sell and be looking for garage space to rent - already have Golf R, VW Camper (for towing and paddock accomodation) and motorbike plus Mrs W's car filling my drive and garage space!

Nice pic Tracy - looks like you have some nice quite twisty roads to put your cars to the test[:)]. Hows the Red Spyderman enjoying his car?

Your Spyder seems to have shrunk in the wash as the White one is nearly as big as that 928 [:D]
