Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Thanks Daro! Never say never. I definitely wouldn't rule out another Spyder. Really looking forward to the GT4. Test drove a GTS and was impressed, but not wow'd. Although didn't have X73, was pdk and had power steering plus. Missed the rawness of the Spyder/R. Gt4 could tick all the boxes, assuming you can get one! Lotta £££s though! Cars in HK are subject to 100% import tax, so v pricey. It's also a long winded process to get the car through customs. Spyder market is also very niche there, more so that the UK. Although, I have 2 HK friends who are looking for the following if anyone is thinking of selling. LOOKING FOR : Red - Essentials: Spyder wheels, manual, buckets, a/c. | PSE, SC, SS, park assist would be nice Silver or Black - as above, but less fussy about wheels Pls pm me if you're thinking about selling.

ORIGINAL: GeeForce It's been a while (again!) since I posted, plus Daro911 said I had to make an impact so here it is! Have spent the last year driving the wheels off my Spyder. Numerous trips to Wales (some new Michelins and a full geo later) and also an epic Alps trip during the summer. I was fortunate to drive through the Fluelapass (back & forth a few times), Bormio to Stelvio Pass, Livignio and also the Bernina Pass. I real trip of a lifetime and I recommend it to all. The feel of the car was elevated to another level on these roads. The irony of this was that the following months on UK roads seemed a real anti-climax. The car almost felt a bit flat as I couldn't reach those hyper-levels of euphoria! I knew full well this was temporary, but while this was going on I had a chance to make some investments, while at the same time receiving a generous offer from a v good friend from HK. As of last week, the car arrived in HK and was signed off to it's new and very happy owner. I'm now missing the car more than EVER!!! Hence my post! Just wanted to share some of my Alps pics with you and also to thank all the Spydermen for your top advice, banter and enthusiasm. What does the future hold in terms of cars for me? Well I had a GT4 LOI at my local OPC since April last year, but looks as though I might not make the 'top client' list. However, I'll likely take a break until all the GT4/new Spyder balances out the market. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy your special cars .... please drive them!!! don't just wash them!! mileage is good!! driving = smiles!!

New Page Must Repeat Your Great Pics[;)]

Great to read/see that you have enjoyed the car and as you rightly point out the best part of ownership is using it plenty. Interesting to read how the car gave you another level of enjoyment on better roads. Good luck with your next choice[;)]

I think his LOI for a GT4 and reading the spec sheet today that could be Geeforce's next wheels[:D] In all the press release and even on PCGB website no mention of limited production numbers everyone has been speculating about!

Looks like only 3 Spyders for sale at the moment, unless there are others not on Pistonheads. Is this the lowest number we have seen.

It seems there is only one decent spyder for sale at 911V. The cocoa and white at the east London opc is very marmite. Compared to CR there are a good 20+ at the moment. Perhaps once the new Boxster range topper is announced more spyders will come to market. Can certainly see why there arent many for sale though. The open air experience is something else.

20+ Cayman R's ? 6 at OPC's 10 on Pistonheads so while not 20+ there does seems to be a flood of new cars after the GT4 launch spec.

If this info is correct not sure how many current Spydermen would want to possibly have to find £25k+ to upgrade [&o] http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/hardcore-porsche-boxster-development

in the interview with the man from Porsche Motorsport, he says the GT4 is not a limited production run but only limited by how many they can make per day. looks like there could be a flood of them in a few years

Its a marketing tool just like the GT2 & GT3 & GT3 RS limited production numbers not too match demand but keep the residuals good and desirability to own very strong IMO
