Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

while longing for the vastly more engaging 987 Spyder ! The earlier model was a precision instrument; a dance partner with which you had a running conversation where you discovered and expanded your limits, The 981 has lost a bit of edge. It may be a disservice to compare them - they share a name but not a mission, keep your 2012 Spyder, too.

It's suited more to an enthusiast who wants something to take to Cars & Coffee on Saturday morning

interesting write up !

After a late night blast (sexy as ;-p )

Mr D you really must quote the paragraph and not just a few sentences which make no sense unless read in context:ROFLMAO:

"A matter of perspective Still, we are of two minds; simultaneously appreciating the 2016 Boxster Spyder for the truly epic car that it is while longing for the vastly more engaging 987 Spyder. Where that car was basically a roofless Cayman R, the 2016 Boxster Spyder is distinctly different from the current and raw, Cayman GT4 track-day special. It's suited more to an enthusiast who wants something to take to Cars & Coffee on Saturday morning, then tear through some nice back roads on the way home."

"Porsche has built an awesome car in the 2016 Boxster Spyder-it's just different than the last one. The earlier model was a precision instrument; a dance partner with which you had a running conversation where you discovered and expanded your limits. The new car? It's better in every measurable way - quicker, faster, stickier, sexier, yet more comfortable and more useable. But it's lost a bit of edge. It may be a disservice to compare them - they share a name but not a mission. Buy a 2016 Boxster Spyder because you want a top of the line mid-engined convertible, with that excellent 3.8-liter from the 911 Carrera S. But keep your 2012 Spyder, too."

Lets hope we get a back to back GT4 v 981 Spyder one day

Shame to let it go.

No way on earth the 981 will ever match it as a fun drivers toy, as the review said, The 981 is better in every way, but not got that edge we spend years and ££££ looking for in a car.

Hope you find what you are looking for :)

yes I have I was offered a 981 spyder(1st on list) but no way I would swap out my 987 spyder for one but I have for a gt4 which I got a late allocation ,but will it live up to the love for the humble 987 spyder ?

Imho I cannot see why anyone would swap out their 987 spyder for a 981 spyder I am with you mrd on this one!

I'm heading off down to the Silverstone Classic tomorrow (in there on Sat / Sun in the PCGB infield parking area). Are there any other Spyders doing the same?

I'll be there possibly tomorrow, but definitely Sat and Sun with my Spyder. Hopefully in the infield area if I don't get turned back, bought a ticket off a PCGB member but it has his reg no on it, he reckons it should be fine so will see.

Might see you at the weekend then. Weather looks grim for my journey down tomorrow, and Sunday as well ... Grrr - Rainex applied!

Well I just drove down from Aberdeen to Stafford today, some torrential rain and pretty windy !! Wish I had cruise as it's really difficult to control the max speed when you can't hear the engine due to outside noise !!

Yes would be good to catch up for a natter etc Steve.

I will be down on the Saturday only now as a change in plans so hopefully see other Spydermen I am on the TIPEC patch

Met someone this week with a 981 Spyder allocation. Apparently had a serious offer of £15k for his build slot. That's sounds a bit mad to me, why would anyone pay in excess of £80k but clearly some people are prepared to? They are heading towards a chunk of depreciation cost there, I think the Spyder will hold it's value quite well but unlikely to appreciate beyond list.
