I'm not sure abut the stripe on the new Spyder,daro911 said:Very nice Terry + Now question is to Stripe or not to Stripe []
Especially the odd bit on the front wing
The old 987 door was flat and could take it but the new car has a far more pleasing design in that area and imho looks better without the edition of the stripe
[ul][*]At a drizzle, nothing. Maaaaaybe a drop or two on top of the door panel after 15-20 minutes, and two or three on the paassenger seat headrest, despite the windows being down.[*]At a light rain, I rolled up the windows to keep myself dry. Part of this is when I set off it was 60F, and as I went north it would drop to 38F. For 20-30 minutes this was fine regarding water intrusion.[*]However, once there's enough water on the trailing edge of the A-pillar exterior trim, that water seems to very slowly seep through the front of the window and onto the top of the door panel (at the front). Not much. Perhaps 1/2 a teaspoon after an hour. Any weight transfer seemed to accentuate this.[*]A few drops would dress the top of the seat headrests as they rolled off the top of the window. Nothing much. The low pressure area behind the seats (again, no wind deflector was installed) also created vortices that slowly covered the rear-view mirror in a fine mist.[/ul] All-in-all, I drove for somewhere between 1.5 and 2 hours in the rain before I pulled into a service station, and quickly dried it up in a minute with a waffle weave towel. There MAYBE was an ounce of water between everything. If the seal at the front of the window was extended just a wee bit, the only thing that likely would've happened was the rear-view mirror getting misted (which could be prevented by putting the deflector in). So pretty good car top-down in light rain at legal highway speeds, though I think at a medium rain or worse (which will last more than 15 minutes) you should stop and raise the top. And yes, everyone looks at you like you're absolutely bat**** insane.

Wait till spring and prices will reach the high 40's If the new model had not been launched and less stock around the prices would be staring with a 5 imo .

Some me nice reading material;-)
Get the Boxster Spyder. It sits at maybe the optimal point between the raw, hairy Porsches of James Dean's past and the hypercar science experiments of Porsche’s turbocharged, hybridized future. It's the kind of car we're less and less likely to see down the road, especially from Stuttgart. To compare it to the ever-evolving, ever-improving 911 is to miss the point entirely.
Sure, 911 nuts might look at you sideways because you could have bought the car but you got this thing instead. You won't care, because you'll be blasting away from them, probably in second gear, in the driver's seat of a Boxster Spyder. And the driver's seat of a Boxster Spyder is a very, very nice place to be.
[/ul]I reckon this car was sold early this year by Barr Tech.daro911 said:This one looks priced to sell no miles but no Spyder alloys either []

This week's Autocar is also very complimentary.
the old 987.2 SPyder felt like a 20 year old car !
the plus point was HOW much feel and fun it was, hope you new owners don't regret the sale, nothing new comes close to the drive of the org ;-)
what a car, yes it rattle and shakes, and the steering wheel moves over a peanut, but that's what my weekend car is all about when not wanting to go for a Caterham or a Elise.
just shocked they are so cheap still should be £60k by now looking at other Porsche stuff, I am sure they will get there and maybe over take 981 prices at some point.
Maybe go back to April EVO and re read about my car, where they do say the new steering is in fact unforgivable ;-) you just have to drive an older car to see how good they were before

Steering feel is better in the 987 but overall imho as an owner of both the new car is in a different league for the average joe; if I wanted to make steering feel my top priority I would have stuck with the 996 RS. its horses for courses what floats your boat; look at the changes you've made to your 987, I would say good luck to you but I dont believe you are the average joe who just wants to get in the car and drive it for what it is; will you keep the GT4??
I think the 981 GT4 and Spyder have room to get better and the new ones should be better esp in steering and bhp, to buy a car with a detuned engine just to me sound daft, the 3.8 should be 430BHP GTS lump lets hope the Cayman RS has the extra go faster bits which make the 991 GTS engine rev to red line nice.
The 987.2 car was at the top of it's game, last of the last 987.2's and they made a bloody good job if it.
will have to wait and see I guess what Porsche do.
As for "ave Joe" they buy a GTS, with a nice roof, and if they want it sporty you add x73 and buckets, hence finding a segment for the 981 Spyder is hard imo, it's a bit in no mans land for me, and no ones buying 2nd hand ! , Romans Spyder is a nice spec/car but still for sale, where top555 sold their yellow GT4 in about 3 hours at £110k !
don't get me wrong I would love a 981 Spyder if I could have 20 cars but for me at least it's a bit stuck inbetween a rock and a hard place. No adjustments still a crap roof and now less feel/fun, not a car for me, but I can see the appeal of them to some.
these 3.8 don't have the zing of the 3.4's ,so no need to rev out and you may as well just change at 6k revs, the 3.4's was a very sweet engine and would rev out really nice.

That's the beauty of the Spyder Gen 1 & now Gen 2 only petrol heads get it as proven without exception in every review to date and your man in the street can't see the wood for the trees
Yellow GT4 sells in 3 hours very nice for the flipper and dealer but the buyer of that car is guaranteed to lose a whole heap of cash eventually and I have been told by several big used GT3 dealers the GT4's are being bought to thrash around the tracks as their GT3 customers now have to look after their garage queens which are far to precious to use for the intended purpose
So I can understand why they fetch far higher premiums in quicker times than any 3.8L GTS is ever going to achieve with its manual folding roof system []
For me personally if depreciation proves as bullet proof as a Gen 1 then its job done I will have a low volume unique Porsche convertible that looks far more exotic than its list price suggests and will no doubt deliver me many miles of pure pleasure with a sound track to match the looks[8D]
