Sorry but that spec doesn't do it for me.

Lots of carbon and tech inside and comfort features.

wonder how long it will take to sell?

The car is in the right PC to be sold, gone before Chrimbo I would think[;)]

I picked up my Spyder from Hatfield on Sunday and so far so good – I am absolutely delighted with it.

First thoughts:

[ul][*]Superb looks - I am pleased with the appearance of my car in white and the full leather interior with silver stitching looks fabulous.[*]The noise - I was worried by some of the comments that I have read that it might be too loud but it is fine – reasonably restrained without the sports exhaust on but pretty manic with it on.[*]Steering – others have found it too light but that has not been a problem for me. The steering is very accurate and responsive and the smaller wheel is really good to use. Straight line stability in the gusty, windy conditions that we have had is also really good.[*]Gearchange – others have said it but it is true, this has got to be one of the sweetest gaerchange/clutch combinations around. Changing gear is a real delight.[*]Torque – I am sticking to a running in regime so I have not driven it at high revs yet but what is really noticeable is the torque, it really pulls well and has an effortless feel to it.[*]Ride – It is firm, perhaps still a little to firm for the worst of our roads, but it is more compliant that the 987 Spyder and acceptable for a sports car.[*]The hood – I have not driven it with the hood down yet but have practised the lowering/raising process a couple of times. Apart from difficulty sometimes locating the buttons in the hood tails it is pretty straightforward. There is some wind noise from the hood but much less than in the 987 Spyder.[*]The reversing camera is OK but I would prefer the normal rear park assist.[/ul]

I will post some photos if I get chance at the weekend.

Well done Terry, so pleased you are happy with her, sounds a great spec you have.

Does not seem long since we were at Althorp viewing one, look forward to further updates and photos.

I wouldnt park my porsche green spyder anywhere near other cars if i had one, suspect the alloys are for winter tyres, shirley!!!

Congrats Terry and thanks for the 'first impressions' review.

I can see this car is going to be a joy to live with. It's the kind of car that magazine reviews etc will not help with a decision to buy it, new or later used. It is what it is. It's clearly not supposed to mirror the 987 Spyder, nor be an alternative to the 981 GTS, nor an open top GT4. Strip away all the comparisons to what its not and i'd expect the type of impression you give.

Have fun![:)]

Nice review Terry and congrats on the new great choice Porsche [;)]

I think most would have preferred rear parking sensors to the camera option which I just can never really get along with as confidently[&:]

As a past 981 owner how different do you find the Spyder from your "S"

I guess its too early to say how much you notice is different from the detuned 3.8 to your 991 S

A couple of photos, albeit not particularly good quality images.

What is wrong with the curtain ...perhaps if some one buys this they could make a template and pass it on to others for a small cost and get one made up over here in say Lexan ?

I find rear visibility isn't helped, especially at night.

Its not a disaster but I prefer the clear perspex option.
