Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Terry said:
I tend to agree that the OPC Bristol car looks too cheap. Assuming it's a straight car with no material accident damage it looks like a bargain.

It's a well-known car at Club events:

A question for Mr D (David):

I noticed the picture of you in Evo at their "how fast" event. How did you get on, and how did your tuned Spyder compare to things like the 991 GT3RS in the same shot and Caterhams etc?

nice spot of me and the RS who I went with in that small top picture in EVO. I had the mother of all spins on my timed lap, off the back straight at speed into the high speed left, so brown pants and so much mud etc I did not post a lap time ;-( gutted to be honest. (well I did post a time but 1.29 so a lass frustrating you get two flying timed laps, but my 2nd was just an in lap, my car was covered in mud. was even shocked it was a 1.29 lol )

driver error and the pressure of 1 timed run, 1st time I have spun the Spyder on track I think, o well. track was damp, the S bend had a 1cm puddle across the track which was also unnerving.

The 991 RS is a track weapon, he spun many times to find the limits early on( his style Spin early see where limits are lol ) then put in in a great timed lap.

Best I could have done on the day/damp track , may be a 1.26, will have to try again next year on a dry track, I was hoping to beat the 997 GT3 RS time of 126.42 dam dam dam !!!

Sounds like fun! Would be interesting to know whether you could get a decent time with the electronic aids on when the surface is so greasy?

I would rather them off, PSM cuts in as is when you might not want it too, but my spin was just way to fast, no electronics can stop the laws of physics ;-)

I tend not to drive the Spyder In the damp and I took the bend like I would a full dry bend as it looked dry enough.

I did most corners too slow and that one too fast.

My cars quite pointy and goes where I want, so any of this rear braking just does not help me :-(

I'll stick to dry days where I know my car much better, I just never drive the Spyder in the damp so was hard to know what it could do.

Still no excuse, 100% driver error !
