Has anyone suffered from road rash on the 981 Spyders?

I know my Cayman got it from new on rear wheel arches, not like stone chips but but a general peppering otherwise it was ok.

So not sure to go for film in that area.

I am getting Gtechniq ceramic film done before I pick the car up

Think this has been discussed Gtechniq is polymer wax like ..Film is a totally different product if I am correct .Will certainly help as heard this is a problem area

Typing error, meant coating not film.

Do know difference.

that pattern looks quite large area, will have to decide if I am getting it done soon as been told car is at docks in Emden now so now long before it arrives.

Homerdog very nice looking Spyder and great combo what did you do with the GT Silver painted sections of the interior

Other than the lack of heat whats your first impressions old v newbie

White was my second choice colour, but with SP wheels and black / red interior.

I wasn't happy about GT Silver trim, really wanted the carbon as I think it looks great, but I couldn't overlook the Classic interior! In the flesh you don't even think about it...

I looked at a GT Silver GTS and wasn't sold on it - looked great in bright light, but I thought it looked dull otherwise, so CWM it was. I don't mind admitting that I think the choice of colours offered isn't great and so I went with white because I think it looked best on the 987 Spyder. I could have gone PTS, but for some reason I wasn't convinced by that picture of the Riviera 981 Spyder that was doing the rounds, despite loving the 987 in the same colour!

As for first impressions:

I prefer the looks of the 987...

Having got that out of the way(!), the 981 sounds fantastic, even keeping it below 4000 rpm, although I imagine that the pops and crackles on the overrun could possibly get tiresome. The roof is rubbish compared to the old one, IMO. The fact that all the reviews go on about what an improvement it is compared to the 987 shows how ill-informed most journalists are and the wobbly boot lid is hilarious! Having said that, it is quite a bit quieter than the old one when it's up, so if you're going to use it as a daily then that's a definite plus.

The LWB seats are fantastic - there has been so much talk about them being uncomfortable on the various forums that I was a bit worried, but they are great, apart from not being heated.

The other obvious thing I have noticed is the ride - it is absolutely brilliant! I know it might not be particularly important in a sports car, but it's a nice bonus!

The steering is very direct and, whilst it might lack some of the feel of the 987 (and seems a bit lighter to me), the smaller 918 style wheel is great. The gear change is lovely and throttle blipping in Sports Plus is hilarious - not being a driving god, I'm sure I will make good use of it!

Homer dog that looks lovely and in the best colour CWM [:D]well I would say that it's what I have chosen for my incoming gt4 after much deliberation and looking at colours on different 981.

Thanks for the insight. On my one hour driving on the roads around Silverstone my only disappointment was the over light imo steering I much prefer the heavier PAS of the 993 & the weight of my current 987 Spyder

The wobbly rear boot is very British Leyland and definitely not Germanic engineering at its best at all [&:]

The new roof is a bit irrelevant to me as mine is off 24/7 but I guess on the very odd days (3 to be precise all false alarms) I was panicked into using my rain cap I would now erect the roof instead

Otherwise the plus sides were many and to name just a few nicer interior, much better PSE sound track, chassis giving even more grip, superior ride quality on our wonderful rutted and pot holed roads and more overall presence made the decision to buy quite an easy one despite having to agree the rear of the original is far prettier but the new front end helps balance that one back out and as I have always liked the side profile of the 981 more than any other Porsche out there today I think the new rear will just have to grow on me with ownership

Still unsure about the Agate, [;)] However I note no one has removed the PORSCHE emblem to just leave Spyder as they ddi on on the 987 by removing Boxster.

The noise in the first Vid sound awesome as Andrew say's sound like a Ferrari .May get a bit tiresome after a while mind you
