Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Andrew Killington said:
Hi Phil

thanks; rear camera is fine for me, glad I've got it; others have not rated it though; it's as good as the one was on my Focus RS!

Can you see the camera from the rear or is it well hidden? My Spyder will only be a weekend toy so not sure if its going to be worth it or not....

it will be a bit marmite but the last time I had a GT silver car I wished I had gone for darker wheels so this time I did; hides the wheel I agree but I like the break up of the silver; each to their own
Who needs extra horses when you have one like this in the stable

cheaper to run than my 4 legged friends; average 30.2 mpg I expect that to reduce somewhat lol

Congrats Shaun; enjoy in good health
Thanks Andrew.

30 MPG !!

You are being very well behaved... There's a challenge for us all.

Did you go with any film protection / paint protection ??

Thats my next decision to make.

camera is quite discreet, so doesn't spoil the lines IMHO

I didn't get any film; I'm in two minds whether to go for the G-Techniq new car protection, but I'll need to make mind up soon

Andy, whats your thoughts with G-Techniq new car protection vs over actual film? I am guessing the G-Techniq is long lasting paint protection where the film could save some stone chips etc.

you guys need a sill kit, its about £350
Can you tell the PPF is on the car ie orange peel effect or any other visual clues

I know the game has moved on since my last experiences 15 years back [&:]

I hate film but it seems the news ones have no peel effect, and if you are only doing sills it's a no brainer imo.

the 2 people who have seen mine did not know film was on it.

with time it's then about edge upkeep as the edges always cling onto the dirt/wax etc

as D says it's a paint coat, G-Techniq seems very highly recommended by the enthusiasts?/obsessives on detailing forums (some of those guys are nuts)

D who did your sills?

I had xpel and just went for a fitter on their main site, not many listed.

Suntek is the other good brand.

shame werkstat has died a death as on silver/white that nano coat looks mega and it's spray on wipe off yourself. G-tech is expensive and you have to get a pro to do it really.

my werkstat kit was £40

white and silver never look good with a wax imo, this is my Spyder with werkstat on , you even get a reflection which is mega.

on silver I would give this kit a go, its said to be the same just about as werkstat and only £57 for every thing you need.

Stunning

Good to see both low mileage circa £45k Spyders at 911V have now found new owners even if it took a while this time around [8D] Not allowing for any premium at all they were a good £20k plus cheaper than a brand new 3.8L so a good economic way to get into Spyder world

Has anyone suffered from road rash on the 981 Spyders?

I know my Cayman got it from new on rear wheel arches, not like stone chips but but a general peppering otherwise it was ok.

So not sure to go for film in that area.

I am getting Gtechniq ceramic film done before I pick the car up
