looks 100 times easier than the old roof.

It isn't!
Have to disagree as we lowered this top whilst chatting away in well under a minute with zero effort required - Even the catch release on the buttresses were found and released instantly unlike the pre-production examples I played with last summer[8D]

Caught out big time

Kamikaze products are supplied from the valeting supplier I use it ain't cheap but looks a good product.

But there are so many capable products on the market now I used wolf's body wrap on Traceys 981 2 years ago its lasted well but I think come spring its time for a refresh.

Seems to be a product for everything now days.

Looks nice though.

it's still a **** design imo, and now ugly inside the car, having to walk round the car 3 times (due to extra flaps ) is also an arse and again not being able to open the boot with it fully up. It's a shocker of a design when you think about it. at least the old one looks cool as fuck, and if you did not want it on you took it off and kept it at home for a real weight saving. this new roof is a shocker imo !!!!

I agree it's a bit of a pain not being able to simply open the boot with the roof up, I'd have been quite happy with the 987 design to be honest.

Anyway it's not going to spoil the experience for me, a minor quibble on a car that drives and sounds so good.

It's putting it up that can be tricky, in fact today it took me about 10 minutes! Not sure if mine needs adjusting, but the electric catch never engages easily. As I've said before, imo the only thing better about the new roof is that it's not as noisy!

You sound like you have a problem Houston which simple means a dealer visit to have it sorted

You can youtube many different videos showing how easy and quick this roof goes up or down and considering its 99% a manual operation not for the one finger on a button brigade :ROFLMAO: but real Spyder folks only

As I stated earlier was pleasantly surprised with the ease and speed we put the top down the other day [8D]

I would also assume this applies to the Spyder

Taken from PH forum but really nice shot of old meets new

So, I drive them both today for a couple of hours each. Some initial impressions/contrasts: 1. Steering: The steering is MUCH heavier in the 987 and feels as though it has no assistance (does it?). The steering in both is brilliant/connected/sharp - and one is not better than the other - it's just that the 987 is heavier and feels a bit more 'mechanical'. 2. The Seats: I got the LWBs in the 981 and I think I prefer them to the Bucket Seats in the 987. They are lower, and just seem to fit so well - not too upright for me as others have commented. The LWBs look stunning as well. They don't need heating either - they are very snug. 3. Looks: I think the 987 Spyder has a more classic, enduring look. The 981 looks more grown up and not as special as the 987 in the looks department (IMHO). Having said that, the 981 does look very nice - just not 'different' enough from a standard 981 (IMHO). 4. Power: The 981 has this one licked. As one would expect given the engine, it clearly feels faster than the 987. It has a lot of grunt and a lot of kick when the revs rise. I didn't think it would feel this quick - it does and I've still only done 200 miles. It's EPIC (as my 10 year old daughter would say). 5. Emotion: They both 'feel' great - full stop. However, the 987 feels like an occasion simply when it is pulling out of the garage. It looks and feels like an old-school car (very mechanical) and I've had people asking me 'how old' its - it looks like a classic already. 6. Noise: On this one, there is no comparison. The 987 sounds good (I have the PSE). The 981 is out of this world good. I drove to London today for the sole reason that I could pick the car up and listen to the noise for another hour or two. I cannot tell you how good this thing sounds. 7. Handling - both amazing. Both easy to 'slide' and use the power and both are still amazing drives. You will not be disappointed with either and both have more than enough to make them lots of fun on the winding roads. Overall: I think I can sum it up in the following. The 987 looks amazing (and is still a very good drivers car). The 981 is an amazing car to drive. I don't know if I am being seduced by the noise and the power (I'm not a driving god) but it really is fantastic. Quite possibly the best car I've ever driven. My back to back drive was on the day I test drove the PEC 981 Spyder on both road and track and upon returning home immediately drove my 987 Spyder I can 100% agree with everything you have said above except I did prefer the much weightier 987 steering feel which I always found to be my perfect feeling car to date and I found the 981 a little to light but as I have just parted with the 987 and I have until mid March before the newbie arrives by then I guess it will just be a memory and nothing more Look forward to hearing your views when you are fully run in and have unleashed the 375 n/a horse in the meantime enjoy

I do think that Midnight Blue looks good on the Spyder.

I think its expensive but it will be exclusive for someone and with a nice spec.

I would think the 555 Spyder will be gone in the next month. This indi normally carries a range (though currently not a lot) range of Ferrari and Lambos. A basic one of these would be at least half as much again as the Spyder. Indeed a Ferrari 458 second hand is in stock at £169K. Look a bit further and you will see they also have a new yellow GT4[8D] So a little haggle and a raid of the piggy bank and and you could buy a new Spyder and a GT4 for the price of the second hand 458[;)] It would be a no brainer for me!
