Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

So, what's the state of the Spyder market these days? Both 987 and 981.
Depends who you ask :ROFLMAO: but trying to answer your question in an unbiased fashion 987 demand for low mileage minters as strong as ever with prices to match so high 40's to low 50's retail - 981's still seem to be going for a few thousand over original list trade which at an OPC equates to circa £12k+ over list on the sticker prices providing they are low mileage for age etc

When are you rejoining the party [:D] probably never after falling for the 911 Turbo power
At those prices I think i've missed the window of opportunity :-(

Still loving the Turbo but as an appreciating asset and for the amount I drive it, I may let it go to free up the funds for other things.

did you get it at exeter ? is it the 981 spyder ? don’t think there are to many in the southwest

Yes mine came from Exeter, I'm a local !!

I believe Exeter had an allocation of 3 Spyders.

ok well not to many then. as i have not seen any on the road in any part of the uk . i’m in plymouth and tend to stay in torquay a lot as have a place also. may see you about or on one of the club meets

Hi, Yes that will be good, I am off to Exeter centre tomorrow to have a tracker fitted as its not standard on the Spyder and disappointed that i can have Porsche Connect.. not available for the Spyder. So have to have a service car tomorrow... [:)]

Roof issue

To date, 6 owners have responded to my post. Of those, 3 owners have found tears in their roofs: paul08 (this is me!) - torn on one side/corner legin - fraying visible on both sides Stevemore - torn on both sides And 3 owners report no issues visible: daro911 Spyderdavid kitchens So it does seem that it is a wider issue
As this has been rocking on for sometime now has anyone heard back from Porsche GB with a positive answer to resolving the issue

Mine is ok at moment but looks like accident waiting to happen.

due 2 year service next month so will raise issue with OPC beforehand .
I feel exactly the same about mine - fine right now but with a little tugging I can see it all falling apart

Looks like that whole section is removed for the 4 year spark plug change and the technician will never treat that weak spot as gingerly as I do when cleaning around that section once in a while[&:]

As per my post on 22nd Sept, Porsche GB's view/attitude (as it was related to me) is that there is no known inherent issue with the roof and that if the local PC feels that there has been a "failure", then the roof should be replaced as a warranty issue.

That said, I am STILL waiting for my local PC to actually arrange for my "failed" roof to be replaced. Patience seems to be needed when dealing with Porsche it would seem.

And, as I also said earlier, if the roof fails after the original warranty period, then my PC has pointed out the the roof fabric is specifically EXCLUDED from the extended warranty that you can purchase.

Hi, New to this and have just bought a spyder.

What seems to be the issues and what do i have to look for.

There seems to be some debate regarding the roof?

Look forward to hearing.

Joe

Mine is also due its 2 year service end of next month, so will be taking it in then.

Mine is fraying on one side and they have pictures, but want to see / photograph the roof themselves.

Will then take up with Reading.

thers's obviously a weakness there, but its not stopping me enjoying my car.

We've got 12 months to get some sense from Porsche to get a decent fix in place.

what do you reckon our chances are you old P dogs ???

Joe, Have you read Paul's posts on pages 921, 922, 926 of this thread to see where the weakness is ?

how come you're in for a service...... didn't you just purchase the car from Exeter ??

Hi, I have spoken to Exeter porsche centre today as they have my car in.. They are checking the roof and say they are un aware of any issues with the roof on spyders?

They said sometimes it can be the products used to clean them.. unsure and will await what they say about mine as i have not sen any issues to date, but will keep an eye on this.
