Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Well that's not strictly true, as they have pictures of mine with the fraying !

Crystal who was dealing with my issue has recently left the dealership, but I'm surprised if the email hasn't been passed on.

may be when you're collecting your car Joe, I could meet you there with mine so we can show the team there the issue and have a good look at yours.

cheers

Hi, I have spoken to Exeter porsche centre today as they have my car in.. They are checking the roof and say they are un aware of any issues with the roof on spyders?

They said sometimes it can be the products used to clean them.. unsure and will await what they say about mine as i have not sen any issues to date, but will keep an eye on this.
PC Exeter are being somewhat disingenuous with that comment. As Boxster7 has said, they have seen the damaged roof on his car, so should be aware. And it most certainly is nothing to do with "cleaning products", as they do not cause the fabric to tear (refer to the pics in my earlier posts) or take up Boxster7's offer to meet you with his car. The tears/fraying occur under the buttress flaps, and so are not immediately visible unless you are opening/closing the roof when you have to lift those flaps up to plug into the back of the roof

Same roof I see :ROFLMAO:

Wonder what the engine and gearbox are going to be

The rest will be 718 interior and options which aren't that different to current 981's unless you want the latest info entertainment upgrades[;)]

Daro

I agree. It looks identical to my black Spyder. The only visible difference I can see is with the exhaust pipes. No longer twin pipes on the centreline of the car, but a single pipe visible towards the side of the car. In fact it looks like it could be the same as visible on the 911 at the rear of the line of cars.

Not sure what engine that would suggest, but sure someone will be along soon to suggest what engine goes with that tailpipe arrangement

Cant tell from the picture but i assume it has two exhausts, maybe similar to the sports exhaust option on a standard 911 (see pic)....although it looks farther apart. Could it suggest a 911 engine?

Was told at PEC, when the 718 launched, that the Turbo & extra cooling system etc, took up all the space available in the engine bay, weighed more in total than the old flat 6 and the new flat 6 turbo physically wouldn't get close to fitting so doubt it's a current 911 engine

Having a new exhaust layout fits in with current company family look and after central pipework since 1996 makes for a massive change in Porsche world of evolution and not revolution :ROFLMAO:

My roof ok with 3500 miles but 95% of the time roof down

My car has just now been booked in for the 13th Nov for a new roof to be installed. However, PC Chester say that they are still waiting for the roof to arrive from Germany.

And yes, I know that I forgot to amend the percentages. They should now be: 33% and 66% respectively [;)]

We can all guess what models coming next and I would guess with at least 400bhp if it’s the n/a flat 6
Porsche 718 Cayman GT4: six-cylinder power confirmed
Andreas Preuninger, head of the Porsche GT models, has gone on record as saying that the GT4 will be naturally aspirated, pointing to a detuned version of the 4.0-litre flat-six found in the new 911 GT3.
