Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Reminds me of driving round the Great Orme near Llandudno. Which reminds me - there's a track day on 27th April near there with PCGB - get it booked!!

Another nice spec Spyder and despite austerity and 100's of 981's on the used market Spyder prices are remaing very stable and pretty much where they were 12 months ago. Difference is now anyone with 40k to spend can go 981 2.7 and any minute now 981 S too [&o] Decisions decisions decisions [:D]

It's a good point. For the previous generation car to be holding up well against it's successor is a good sign. The newer and more abundant car you'd expect to fall faster in it's first couple of years, compared to an older car that has already done a fair chunk of it's early depreciation. The base price of a 981S is £45,384. The 987 Spyder was £44,643.
 
Yeah but I challenge you to go on the configurator and spec a 981S that you would covet or consider swapping your Spyder for at less than £55k. White car looks nice. Shame its not got the more desirable bucket seats [;)]

True but then my Spyder cost the original buyer circa £59k so a like for like 981S will be slightly more today but for the used car buyer the choice has now become a Spyder or a nice spec 2.7 981. Not an easy call if the car isn't your daily driver [&o]

Exactly, and remember the illustration on page 56 http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=719756&mpage=56&key=less&#745347 This 981S may have lost ~£10K or more in 7 months, so where will it be in 2 years.

Mine was a fair bit less than that new. Cheapest approved used 981S is under 45k already but it is poverty spec and the same money would buy a lovely 997 gen2. World of choice out there!
 
The first one the OPC list is spartan spec but the one above is next on the list and is fully loaded, for the same price[:-]

I know of 2 981 purchases made since March 1st and both were stock cars and 10% off list price [&o] This 981 S probably lost the first owner a lot more than you think in depreciation [:eek:] and once again Porsche is stock piling UK cars and selling them cheap to keep the end of year sales figures falsely high Madness IMO [&:]
 
If anyone is thinking of buying one wait until the year end. Then the Porsche Centre will have to Register them in order to meet the Sales Targets. You should then get a real deal - but just ask a Spyderman if you want to know what the real deal is![;)]

John what you say is bang on the money, I know that from another two people who both bought 991 stock cars in December 2012 with absolutely massive discounts off both and I mean MASSIVE [:eek:] In the meantime dealers still have monthly targets to meet and PCGB still have unsold cars that must find homes a s a p to stay out the red[;)]

Wowee, the bean-counters at Porsche must've worked out that they'll probably make more money selling a higher volume of cars with reduced margin than a smaller number at full price [&o] Chaps like this better focus on enjoying their new beauty rather than tracking what it's worth.
