ORIGINAL: edh Boxsters have transaxles don't they? [:D]
I don't know if it is some kind of inverted snobbery or just a poorly concieved description, and I have flagged this up before. All porsche sports cars are transaxle. I use the adjective "sports" car to differentiate between these and the Cayenne and Panamera, as I know nothing about the drive trains of these two. Just because the gearbox is at the back, it still has its differential and ouput shafts integral with the gearbox casing.

We know... however, it remains a common usage to call the 924, 928, 944 and 968 the "transaxle cars" much like calling a generic vacuum cleaner a "Hoover". Most "common usages" are technically wrong or innacurate in some form or other but thankfully we still use them. The world would be a much duller place if we didn't.

Thanks for the invite Andy, looks like I'm all good for the 2nd June. I'll try not to embarrass too many Turbo's in my 1 series![8D] Edd
