Bedford Trackday

50/50 that I may be in USA but just booked it anyway. Really enjoyed it last year (in spite of head gasket giving up the ghost [:(]) so hopefully I will be able to make it

Assuming I don't need a set of brakes (they are pricey with this setup!), and the fact that I have no wedding shenanigans to deal with I probably will book myself a place (the car is freshly serviced and on a nice set of Michelins :). However, I have a query. Would you chaps say the 20 mins of instruction are worth booking alongside. I know we all are as great as Nigel Mansell, but every little helps ;).

Chas - I don't know how much track experience you have, but for a relatively new track driver, instruction is really really recommended, and will save you more than you pay in terms of reducing tyre and brake wear. It will get you round faster and smoother and should make you less likely to stuff it. Having said that, I had some instruction at my first ever trackday (Cadwell) in 2000 which ended with us spinning off backwards at the exit of Charlies at high speed - I think the instructor greatly overestimated my competence and my ability to understand what he was trying to teach me. 14 years later and I'm beginning to think I'm finally getting to grips with Coppice/Charlies [:D] Once you get a few years under you belt I think that most trackday instruction can be a bit limited as they focus on basic lines. Not easy to do much more in 20 mins. One of the reasons I will book more with Opentrack next year is to get tuition from Mike Wilds again - he was great.

Honestly? I have a bit of track experience but it is quite literally that. Thank you for your recommendation. Once I have checked a few things I know for sure how I will book :).

Just booked my place for 2 June! - I would have booked earlier but I wasn't sure if my car would be ready in time - it is, so I have! Let's hope the day is as good as last year [:D] Andy Watson - 944S Craig Lewis - 944T Frank Griffin 944T Pete -944T Paul Willis - Edd Mortimer -M135i Mike P - 944T Mick Brown - 944 Race Car Mick

I've just given it a push on 968uk.com to see if any of the chaps over there are interested. Should be a good day (fingers-crossed for dry if not sunny weather!) Mick

Craig and I are staying at the Holiday Inn in Sandy the night before. Anyone else wanting to join us?? We have also booked a Garage for the day @ £30, if anyone wants to join in the use of it, we will just split the cost between us. See you Monday

Andy - yes please to sharing the garage - always handy to have somewhere to stash the road wheels, jack, jerry cans etc. And also (heaven forbid) to shelter from the rain (not that that will happen on Monday [:)]). Got the car ready today - really looking forward to it. Mick

What a fantastic day [:)]. Thanks for organising it Andy. Good to see a few of the regular faces plus a couple of new ones. My car ran faultlessly all day and I am over the moon with it. Now off to check out the javelin/Goldtrack/opentrack event lists to book some more days [:D]

ORIGINAL: Ex Skyline So, how many of you blew up [8|]?
None, it was a good day no incidents or breakdowns all day other than a noisy final drive issue which forced an early departure No flags other than he chequered one Brilliant!!

Thanks to all you guys that made it, it was a great day and with the overall numbers down plenty of clear track time [:)] 8 of us made it for a good evening meal, and there is some serious talk of another this year?? Defiantly one for the annual calendar this though.
