Before and after

Unusually I like the turbo rubber spoiler rather than the bridge spoiler type - especially now I've got one of Rick Cannells vynil Porsche letters - although I wish i'd got them in red now.

Well said. I'm also a fan of the proper spoilers! You wouldn't have somewhere to rest your spanners, polish, mug of tea etc. with a bridge spoiler...[&:]

I've got Rick Cannell's spoiler lettering in black on black. Looks very subtle, and reflects nicely at night.
 
My thinking behind the whole thing was to keep the changes in line with what Porsche did on the 968 so that the changes update the look and even look like they should be there and by no means out of place. That's why I held out for some good Cup 1's rather than any others wheels I had looked at.

A bridge spoiler would add to that theme, particularly given my rubber one has some marks on the top of it that I can't seem to shift or cover up. Maybe one day cash willing I will make the change. The problem seems to be you have to spend £££ on a gunuine one and then more to have it fitted or £ on an after market one; which I haven't seen a glowing report on the forum about yet. There is one that appears on ebay regularly with the same picture as Porscheshop at £99 but I have no idea if its any good. Any one know?

I also fancy some sill covers. I've seen some from ESS (from VeeSweden originally) that from photo's i've seen look nice and don't seem to stick out too much like those box spoiler types. I'm waiting to see some in the flesh to make sure they look OK before I take the plunge though. I feel they'll provide a bit of protection for the outside of the sill and i've never really liked those daft under wing/sill plastic trips. A rather pathetic attempt from the Porsche styling dept I think. They look pants and do nothing but cause a nice water trap to attack those difficult to reach parts of the car.

I also agree about the rear spoiler, damn I am starting to waiver now and may put the running strips back on (easy way out) and fit a set of 16" tele-dial wheels or the lovely slot mag style ones like on the 968!
 
Must say I have come to like the original rear spoiler too. Had always thought would get a bridge spoiler but somehow for me they just dont seem to suit the car. I am however weakening in my resolve not to get one of those front splitters [8|]

On the more general point I do think that subtle upgrades like the cup mirrors enhance the car (but not things like that Frankenstein 968 aberration). I know for certain that the mods under the bonnet I have had done have made the car much more enjoyable to drive and the exhaust improves the sound it makes too.

End of the day for those who mod and for those who dont I think we all share an appreciation of what the 944 is all about.
 
My 1990 turbo has teardrops,these are the only non original bits on the car,soon as it goes in to the bodyshop which im sure it will for some tarting up,they are coming off,the old style square ones are going back on.Really in a quandry about fitting a boost enhancer though,i reckon the wastegate spring is super soft,but i vowed not to mess with is one.[8|]
 
I really like the splitters as well, but have refrained to fit one as I just know it will only be a matter of time until I would catch it on a high kerb - especially after the KW is fitted and lowers the car 30mm.

I think they are fairly discreet but I worry about how much they stick out. I'd prefer something that follows the sill contours quite closely like the 968 sill trims. The problem with the 968 sill trims on a 944 is that they hang lower on the car which I think looks a bit odd if you follow the line with the nose and the rear spoiler line. It would look better if you could lower the rear under bumper spoler to line up and fit a splitter that again is low enough for the line to be continuous.

By the way Mark - if you want to have your wastegate refurbed and keep it as standard as possible then Lindsay Racing do a 'clubgate' which uses the standard wastegate body and replaces the diaphram with a new custom made one. The clubgate is a single port wastegate and is effectively set up to be as the standard one is in terms of performance. At the current $ - £ exchage rate they are a bargain and alot cheaper than a new single port wastegate. Though not as cheap as a boost enhancer but there are quite a few people that seem to be having overboost problems with boost enhancers. I think the on/off nature of their operation brings the boost in too quickly, and tricks the ECU into thinking you're in overboost.
 
I personally would stick to the original rear spoiler as I think it gives a more bullish rear end instead of the bridge spoiler and I think it does no harm for subtle updates like the wheels/handles and mirrors because afterall if you sell the vehicle in the future it would be easy to revert back to original..................unlike the 944/968 converted[:'(][:'(]
 
Jez, Another small thing to do to your wheels.....hot soapy sponge the inner dish of the wheels,I do mine and they look alot wider and really show them off nicely[;)]

I wish you guys would stop it, I spent ages last night flicking through pictures of various 951/S2 and in the end decided that the best look is completely stock, lowered as far as is safe and with 16" teledials.

Really nothing enhances the look of the 951/S2 more then a low ride height, especially on stock S2's which usually have a massive gap in the arches.

Oh well if I put the rubbing strips back on and get my mirrors restored I will haved saved the best part of a grand! (cup mirrors + handles + side skirts + painting).

I am sure someone would even swap my 16" cups for a nice set of teledials! (stop laughing)

Now if I only there was such a thing as Cup teledials made of aluminium alloy instead of Mg ... [:)]
 
If you want to lower the car then there is normally some scope within the adjusters for the rear which is simply a case of loosening a few BIG bolts and turning the eccentric - those who have done it could pipe in here and say how easy it is.

The front will be a bit more difficuly unless you have M030 adjustable spring perches, without these you need to fit some shorter springs. Again not the end of the world and relatively cheap
 
Tech 9 adjusted my rear end right down(This is years ago),they said it was a pig to do if i remember...??

I think these would look nice on a lowered 944 with stock mirrors and rubbing strips on. The DP ones IMHO would look better on a car with cup mirrors and no rubbing strips. Those dutch guys do em for 220 euro as well which is very tempting. I may go for these and put me rubbing strips back on. I agree that the standard arrangement down there is a mess and I hate the look of that stone chip enamel rubbish that was so common back then. Years ago I was going to get a set of Avez wheels (A?) since I remember seeing a 951 with em on and IMHO it was the first time I had seen one where the car and 17" wheels all looked in keeping and with an 80's style. Many ppl hate those Azev wheels now but they do suit cars from the 80's.
