Big increases in premiums?

According to Go Compare it is with Aviva through a broker [:)]

Aviva wouldn't touch my Turbo due to the value.........so be careful they actually know how much it's worth - from their own website they said cars could not be valued at moree than £50K when I tried to get a quote......

Porsche Insurance also use Aviva and they know how much mine is worth! I think they put some arbitrary limit on the value of the car for online quotes but through brokers, or if you speak to them, they will be happy to give you a quote.[:)]

Even a new Boxster S can quite easily be configured to be over £50k, so that's a pretty pathetic limit!

Aviva (formerly Norwich Union) has 2 motor insurance arms. One deals direct with the mass market and has a value limit - for this reason it is generally unsuitable for late Porsches. The other deals with the specialist and high value market and can only be accessed through a broker. Hope this clarifies.

Well Guys just insured the Turbo in time for the SW weekend. After lots of shopping round and the initial shock of my renewal notice asking for £1150 I narrowed the choice between Performance Marque and Aon private clients and settled for AON with Aviva £600 excess for £397.00 and yes Gary it is fully comp. The Performance Marque quote was for £677 but included 5 track days which at about £140 each (I paid last year for Llandow) if I'd got some track days booked it would pretty much have insured the car for nothing. As I've not the £397.00 became a no brainer and I have to say I'm well chuffed its not often you can trade up have an extra 130 BHP and get a cheaper insurance cost.

Roll on friday.

Geoff

Excellant news, Geoff, congratulations.

Another good reason for subscribing to POCGB (or the Club forum at any rate!) [:)]

I just wonder whether we'll all be in for a shock next year though. It seems to be the case that insurers hook you, reel you in, then hike up the premiums once you're landed.

Smells fishy to me! [:D]

Looking forward to seeing your new motor tomorrow.

Regards,

Clive

Having gone recently from a 997 to a fifteen year old 993 I'm wondering who best to insure with. Will my car automatically qualify for classic insurance??
