Come and Exhibit @ the Stoke Goldington Steam Rally - 7th & 8th May

ClubSport 911

New member
Any region, and any register - this is to formally invite you / family and your Porsche pride and joy to attend and be a part of the Stoke Goldington Steam Rally.

ADVANCE NOTICE - 7th & 8th May 2005.

What is it ?
Well, it's one of the best country fairs and steam rally's in the UK. Also, it is conveniently, located in a village not far from Olney, Bucks and set in very pretty countryside.

It attracts the huge arrary of the best period steam powered exhibits in the land (and yes, you can take a ride on them). In addition, you will find childrens entertainment, shops, stalls, stands, and of course many working exhibits from rural life as well as craft tents, display's of historic cars, and other sideshows.

A very interesting feature is a regular demonstration of field ploughing by traditional shire horses - Real horsepower.

So what ?
For 2005 we have secured a 10m X 25M space for exhibiting up to 10 cars per day - pride of place ! If you have been to previous events, you may have noticed a select number of car clubs;, TVR , Jaguar, as well as general vintage vehicles. However, like last year we have the opportunity to put a Porsche display for the public, and parade our cars in the central arena whilst commentary describes the car's history etc, for the audience.

Are you interested ?
If you are we'd like to gain commitment for up to 10 cars from the club, for each of the 2 days the event is being held. (Date is 7th & 8th May 2005) - 20 cars in total, 10 per day.

At time of writing, we have secured commitment from a number of members (in and outside the region) but would really welcome support from anyone.

Aims.
Simple:- To build a representitive sample of Porsche's production across as many models as we can, in an entertaining way for the general public. Please do try and help if you can because we're hoping to get as much commitment from R10 (and surrounding regions) as soon as possible. I will pass you details of the event, registration etc, as soon as you contact me/

Need to know more ?

Then please call Steve on 07966 070848, Or e-mail:-steve.darnell@virgin.net

THANKS for all your support

P.S. I should mention, that if you show, you do not need to pay to get in

Oohhhh...Nice one. This event clashes perfectly with the Stoke Goldington Country Fair & Steam Rally...

Steve - I clearly under-estimated your negotiation skills. Getting the organisers to move this because it clashed with Althorp is an absolute result. Spot on mate [8|]

Time is running out on this event & I realise that for many people, 7 weeks notice is last minute but at time of writing we have only 2 or 3 members signing up for this from any / all regions for this event

Thanks if you have, but can you persuade others ?

The organisers have given us just 10 working days to organise our cars.

Andy - could you perhaps fire out an E-newsletter to catch people that don't use the forum ? - THKS

Hi there !

For those interested, the current situation is that we have 2 cars booked for Saturday and 9 for Sunday.

Just to remind, we have been allocated 10 spaces for both days.

I would ask all those attending, to please look on the website for more details. You will find the documentation required (simple to fill in) and also, sample single page car descriptions for the public / organisers

Thanks

Steve

Steve

Assuming that ground clearance is not an issue, you can put me down for one of the days. I guess it better be Saturday by the looks of it!

Cheers

Pete

Steve/Tony -OK, done all the forms, who do I send them to???? Organisers or you guys?

To save time ((~1month) please send all forms direct to the organisers.

THANKS

Steve

PS - you ever done a track day with a Steam Engine ? I had my first drive a couple of yrs ago. Steering was a touch vague (chain driven) but almost no body roll. [;)]

Steve just a thought.

The car description sheet? Presumably this doesn't need to go to the organisers? O maybe a copy to them?

I recall last year there was a laminating session somewhere.

No, this can come via e-mail to me. Like last yr, I will print / laminate prior to the event.

All is to be revealed on a series of e-mails to those people attending.

P.S. - organisers confirmed, we have a great spot for the show ! As she put it, "pride of place"

Seriously it'd be great to have you on board, and if possible could you please drop onto the website that Tony has set up, download the docs, send off to the organisers etc?

Above all else, mail me your car description ASAP..

INFORMATION

Just to let you know, that as per last year, I will be going up on the Friday prior to the event, (the 6th) to set up our camp and mark out the area / put up Gazebo / Flag etc.

I'll also use this as the time to see if there are any obstacles to getting in (I know for a certainty, that this year, the organisers are working very hard on entrance and egress for us)

If you wish to join in, then please let me know, and we'll hook up just after lunch (or event @ lunch in the local pub)

Thanks

S

I'll mail you pictures of what I find the night before so you can see the lay of the land
