some days its just like everything wants to fight you, and today is one of them. It took ages to take the control arms off. In the 101 book is says you can use the arm as a wrench to take off. There isn't the room under the car to do that so its just good old fashioned force.
However after lots of "fing" and "Jeffing" all is good, one side done now the other [] Hopefully I will be quicker, then off the get it tracked.

Both sides now complete, the second side was a lot quicker, although tool of the day 'Pipe wrench' the control arm just fell off with it Thought I would take some time and smarten up the underside as well.
However I then noticed some tin worm on my front lower wing bit. So off it came
and after rust proofing, I have primed and let it dry ready for filler and final primer and top coat.
Mind you after I started this one I notice the other side isn't looking very good either, oh well for another day
After completing the lower wing, I noticed that the drivers door also had some tin worm starting to show its bubbling calling card.
So I guess like tooth decay the sooner you get it the better it is.
Step 1, Remove all bubbling paint and expose the rust underneath Step 2, Remove all unwanted rust, rub back to bare metal Step 3, Add a rust stopper, and let dry.
? Any ideas ? I took my car for its MOT today, and apart from a couple of little issues nothing really major ( happy days ) or so I thought, however when I went to pick up my car they informed me that the car had failed because the side little comes on with the indicator, the side light comes on with the indicator but only on the side indicated (I.e. not both side lights) however this is some thing that the car has always done, and I thought it was because it was an imported car, the car has always gone through its mot before with this quirk. I was quite sharply informed that it didn't do it last year on it mot or they would have failed it then as well. However the car has always had this little quirk, I was then informed that it is possibly illegal to even drive it home ? Anyone have any ideas Marc
Hi , no the side light doe not flash just comes on with the indicator on the side you are indicating to turn, I just thought it was because it was and imported car from Germany and it was part of its quirkb( yes I know all Porsches are imports from Germany) but my car was originally a German car, then imported to the states and finally imported to uk.

Have you got the wiring diagram for it-& are there 2 live feeds to the sidelight holder? The circuit must be made before the flasher module with a separate feed switched by the indicator arm as far as I can guess-at night the sidelight would be on anyway from the lighting switch so get busy with a circuit tester at the bulb holder initially
Thought I would start the tasks listed on my MOT fail slip. First the parking light coming on with the indicators. Front end of the car quite easy, however the rats nest of wiring and mountains of dirt at the back have made me stop and start sorting out cleaning and care taking.
Hopefully get the lighting issue sorted soon, then I'm going to change the back discs and pads to match the fronts "red Stuff" and vented discs
All the lights now behaving like they should While I was cleaning and repainting the back I also noticed that the rear reflector was ready to fall off, so I removed it cleaned it, and repainted it. It looks as if someone also tried to have a go at this before me as all the fixing points were /are broken off and it was held in place with glue.
Im now not quite sure what glue I should reattached the rear reflector with, or should I go with double sided expanded tape ? Any ideas, as I don't fancy it falling off mid cruse.
wow what a scrap I have had today, thought I would get around to replacing the rear brake pads (Green Stuff). The brake pins had welded themselves to the brake calliper, I have never come across this before, I'm guessing its because of the age. I had to drill and smash them out. I have ordered some new ones, so she sits in the garage looking rather sad for herself.. Nearly ready to take back to the MOT station though.
