IIRC Andrew @ promax does the Lindsey one for about 90 quid including shipping. I'm sure Jon Mitchell did one for about £70.

may be worth trying lindsey racing - looking at some old bills, they only charged $80 to ship an intercooler to the UK

It's okay - Speed 6 have come back with $45 to ship via USPS instead - I'm not in a hurry so this fine - works out at roughly £150 plus whatever the robbing stewards at the HMRC want if they catch it......roughly £40 or so.

Have ordered my stuff:-

http://www.andale.com/stores/sf_itemHome.jsp?lid=114585951&cid=10967939&mode=1

Worked out at $264 all in. Paid by Paypal, which means I can pay by AMEX (to avoid exhorbitant exchange rates), which means I got $1.88 to the pound, so the whole lot comes in at £140 (without taking my 2% cashback off[:D]).

If I get stuffed for import tax and VAT (sent by USPS, so I have a 50/50 chance of getting away with it!), this will make it £180, which is still a good buy - would recomend anybody wanting to buy stuff to look across the pond at the moment, as exchange rates are throught he roof (or is that the dollar through the floor?)

Cheers to all (especially Graeme) for their help.

The next questions will be how to fit the damn stuff[:D]

What exactly are those little black clips? I have a bunch of SS Jubilee Clips, but those things will look alot neater on the smaller hoses.

They are little rubber O rings that just give enough extra pressure to stop the vacumn lines popping off under high boost.

I can't remember exactly where Mr Sims got them from but I'm sure he'll tell us when he gets back from north of the border.

Just thought I'd let people know that me new bits came today. Well packed, only 10 days by USPS, and more importantly no Customs intervention, so good service and a bargain all round!

From me ! (They're pictures of WUF's engine bay - but long since updated)

Rick.

Unfortunately they didn't stand up to the heat in the engine bay and perished on Beaky. I have now resorted to heat shrink tubing but also have another option which is to use a fatter tube sleeve over the top of the purasil tube at the unions.

Just like your clutch pipe when 'Wonderful Wayne' was trying to map it, then [:D] [:D] [:D]

I must admit I had no problems with the rubber O rings on WUF perishing at all.

Perhaps sir requires to upgrade to a 931 vented bonnet [;)]

Okay then,

Fitted the Divertor valve no probs - the old one looked okay though - I'm guessing that the diaphram that breaks is visible through the botton of the unit? If so it was intact.

Anyways, my question is, I got a couple of waistegate shims in with the divertor - any ideas how to fit?

Haven't tried the boost controller yet - figured I'd try and measure the performance difference of each item seperately first!

Cheers matey, exactly what I was after.

To save me looking, which side is it on? And do you recon I'll be safe sticking both shims in (6mm), or measure as you suggest (and will the airline blow it halfway across the garage[8|]).

Took the car for a quick spin after fitting the divertor. Difficult to tell any performance difference - I think the throttle response was better, but I may be wanting this to be the case! What definately was up was the boost guage - peak power was showing nearer 2 bar, rather than between the 1.6 / 1.8 mark as before.

Its the one between the niple on top and the piston, suck on the nipple (oo-er) and if there is no resistance diaphram has gone,

The wastgate is just slightly right of centre on the exhaust and at a guess its just underneath your left thigh when your driving.

Reading the figures that Tony and I got in that old post I think you're looking for about 6-7psi before the wastegate starts to open so its time to get that foot pump out and experiment with 3mm and 6mm shims. You won't blow the wastegate across the garage as it will only be about half a slow press of the footpump before 6psi has built up in the line and the valve opens. It is best to have the wastegate clamped somewhere though so you can easily see what's going on.

Welcome to the slippery slope [:D]

BTW my 38mm TiAL wastegate will be for sale soon (new engine has a 46mm), it's only 2 years and 10k miles old, and has spent the last year hibernating.

Feels like there is resistance, but I'm not a nipple blowing expert!

Actually having slept on it, I think it should be sucked, if the diaphram is intact there will be lots of resistance as you are trying to lift against the spring if not you will get a nasty taste. Anyway if it wasn't damaged that is good you caught it early and should see little difference and your new DV will be able to handle higher boost pressures in future.

With lots of shims in the wastegate you may need longer bolts. It is easier to fit the shims with the wastegate removed, spray some penetrating oil on the fixings first (plus gas or similar). With the wastegate out inspect the valve seating area for cracks.

Wastegate is almost in centre of the car (drivers side of bellhousing) so ramps may be your best bet for access,

Tony

Thanks - I think I'll do this in the winter when I take the car off the road anyway to do the suspension / brakes etc. Will fit the Boost enhancer in the meantime!

You said suck by the way - my mistake. I tried both anyway, and there was resistance doing either.

Am sitting on the top of the very slippery slope with a bad handbrake..........
