Sorry Alex, but I totally disagree. Why on earth should an apology be made to Nick?

Manners still count for something don't they?
None of us has seen the agreement between the two parties and therefore we should now shut up.

Ade u know me well enough that this is nt personal , i dont think ur comparing like with like ............u send a newish car to Manthey they modify it, it goes STRAIGHT out of the box .........well shud do agreed? U take a 30 yera old car take it aprt and do this, THERE WILL BE A SORTING PERIOD it truly is unrealistic to expect otherwise ............have nt spoken to Nick but i am sure he ll sort it, theres nothing there [on the list ] but irritating faults etc .............

Guys it may be a mark of my incompetence but its taken 2 years to iron out some of the things on my '72 s and achieve originality, after the bulk of the work appeared done ....get real this cars been back to zero ......a thousand pieces scattered on the floor[ like mine] but then to add to the fun its been heavily modified, by any yardstick .....REAL WORLD eh! NOTHING LIKE THIS COMES OUT PERFECT FIRST TIME ......PROOF OF THE JOB IS EXPERIENCE TO KNOW WHAT NEEDS DOING then having the patience to follow through , taking time and care .......then just for luck doing it again when something is nt as it was after some miles !!!!!!!

Hope you aint paying by the hour [8D]

whoa easy there tigers [8D]

i just copied and pasted the email that i had sent to nick earlier that day. The car its self is a hoot to drive so tempers any problems.

I build houses for a living, so know theres always gremlins on large projects. However if i'm ask a direct question i tend to answer it i dont see a problem with that.

Hey Vic,
If I remember correctly, Simon's donor car was in mint condition. Whether the donor car is new or old, when the car is taken apart and it is screwed together again, the process of screwing it together again requires the work to be done carefully and done well. If I pay Manthey to dismantle my car completely and put it back together again, I expect it to be done 100% no exception. In fact, hang on... JZM stripped my car completely and rebuilt it and guess what... it was done 100%. It's the garage's responsibility to make sure everything is put together properly. I don't see why an older car would be an exception to the expectation that it is screwed back together properly.

Indeed, this isn't supposed to be a knock on Nick, and I agree with you that he can do a great job for Simon.

But ignoring Simon's project for one second, and I am surprised at the willingness to somehow allow such faults to be allowed on a paid job. Big job or small job, isn't that why we pay pros to do this and not ourselves?

CD player for those long road trips

Long road trips? My god you're brave... If you've got plans to hear music you'de be better off looking at a PS replica based on more civilized machinery. I've got a funny feeling you'd be reaching for the ear plugs on long road trips in the RSR replica, unless you've got shares in Dynamat.

Much respect for even considering these old charms over a 997GT3. I wish you the best of luck in finding the thrill you're after.
I'd love to follow your lead as I ache for an early 911, but like my creature comforts too much and feel adding them to an early car would compromise its charm.

how the hell did I manage to entirely miss two pages of this thread?

Snag list makes bad reading. You may well expect the odd adjustment here and there, and there will doubtless be faults with the donor, but things ot screwed down is poor attention to detail. Not really on airing this in public though.
Hope it will all be resolved quickly and you can all stay friends. Not helped by others stirring... not anyone else's business.

Car looks stunning btw.

Makes interesting reading, I think there is an argument for both sides here, some of the items should have been rectified before the car was completed, however some other issues do take some testing and tweeking..

Either way it should have been done between them in private.

When I read the snag list, I did not get the impression that he was angry about the faults, seemed more excited about the new car, but with things to sort out.

Probably gave some a bad impression, but the pictures sure don't.
