Prav, thanks for the offer but I've just done a deal for my OPC's demonstrator[;)]: spec is in my signature. Not been used for Test Drive Plus, or a Press car; just a dealer demonstrator with 2700 miles since Nov. Drove exceptionally well - as expected; so good deal all round and I collect next Friday. Perhaps take it to visit the Club on 3 April.

Hi Helen; what a great car. Much as I loved our 986S, the 987 just seems so much more refined and the interior is, in my eyes, an improvement; also, the exhaust note means that a sports exhaust is no longer a pre-requisite for aural pleasure! As you're going to Cornbury at M in the M on 3 April, you'll be able to see it.[;)]

Congratulations Del...might see you at HQ on the 3rd.
Looks like a great spec.. might be worth another blat up Fish Hill [8D]
Remember to change your avantar back when visiting the other side...[;)]

Collected it this morning; absolutely wonderful! Vast improvement on the 986 - and that was/is an excellent car; just seems so much more refined! Spending the evening claying, polishing and waxing it..... in preparation for lots of miles over the weekend[;)]

Hi I am new to the forum after owning a boxster for 15 months I ordered a new boxster S on monday should be delivered early july I would avoid demo's as they are humped from the very first mile

KS 2, thank you for your valuable comment! However, as Porsches are bench run before installation, designed from the outset as sports cars, have a rev limiter to provide some degree of protection and an excellent warranty - I have no concerns at this time. Not everybody 'thrashes' a demonstrator! Some people understand that cars need a degree of mechanical care at low mileage and drive accordingly; I presume, however, that you are different and 'hump' (?) them? My ex-demonstrator was used only as a dealer demonstrator and was not employed on the 'Test Drive Plus' programme or used by the press; consequently, it has been cossetted by the OPC - as it would not be in their interest for it to fail. Moreover, the OPC staffs gave it many lengthy drives before prospective buyers got their hands on it. All in all, I'm very happy with it at this time - and wish you well with your new car when it arrives.[:D]

I didn't thrash my demonstrator, the guy from the OPC seemed disappointed (only just broke 72mph)

Enjoy it.

I'd like to think that most people are like you; what is there to be gained in thrashing the car against the rev limiter? The optimal power/torque band for the 987 Boxster S is between 4700 and 6000 RPM; so continuing above 6000 RPM is pointless; likewise, changing down early rather than using the brakes to arrest speed is neither efficient nor effective! If the car is not being driven appropriately then I'd expect the accompanying sales executive to curtail the demonstration drive! Renquist, if you test drove what is now my car, then thank you for treatingit with some respect and sympathy; clearly, others have little respect for demonstrators. The 'drive it like you stole it' brigade are not worthy of driving or owning a Porsche!

Haven't got a digital camera! However, if you look on the Porsche website and look under approved used cars searching for 987 Boxsters, there are a number of GT silver Boxster S demonstrators for sale: mine looks just like any one of them!
