Favourite bit/trait of your 944

Will have to say "Performance " too is the sense of handling as well as speed yes I know thats more than one and now have thought of loads more so will just leave it at that.

Dynamic stability, wether on a race track or down a bumpy back road the 44/68 series cars soak up bumps and everything else you can throw at it without so much as a murmur. Interesting that the greatest strength of our cars is in stark contrast to the very thing that intoxicates 911 drivers so much, and yet both cars built by the same company.

Oh and the sound is much more enjoyable with all the trim removed [:D][:D], instantly makes the car feel much faster and you don't hear any of the odd ticky sounds from the engine any more.

As someone else said very comfortable even with stiff suspension, again I believe the inherent dynamic stability has a lot to do with it.

Oooh I'm hard torn between the Seats and the mechanical grip.. the only two things I've never found another car to match! As a whole package its stil my favorite but on these two aspects alone I can honestly say I've never found/driven a car to beat either.

Only on the way a 993 grips as you pile on the power out of a corner making me doubt that a 944 could beat it I'm going to say the seats have it for me. Thats possition, comfort, looks, ease of use, hieght, possition in the car the whole shebang!

Regards,

Ben

The feeling of pride I still get every time I see it on the drive
I agree with Paul, for me it's the feeling I get when I open the garage door and see it crying out for a run.

The feeling of pride I still get every time I see it on the drive, even after 5 years of ownership. I don't get that from my van, for some reason...[&:]

My feelings exactly Paul - Ive broken the foglight and bumper on my van and its absolutely rotton dirty.... There is alsorts of stuff lying around it...... ! My heart is gone now - its just transport.

2 more weeks till my '44 is back on the road once again and enjoying admiring glances in a world full of non descript, colourless, personality less Korean built metal boxes...

I am becoming a right cynic [:D][:D]

Difficult to stick with just one favorite so I will go for body lines.especially when you sit in the car and look in your door mirrors to see those lovely rear wheel arches.[8D][:)]/

Well, given the fact that I have an 'S' performance wont be under consideration [] , so I am going with the flare of the rear arches [:D]

The feedback you get when driving it, the cokebottle shape, mine has 20mm spacers on the rear 10mm on the front and MO30 I love the way the wheels fill the arches, and the way it screams past other cars when overtaking(due to some enhancements).
It is noisy, stiff and heavy clutchwise but i love it to bits soon to be taxed for the summer and going to get used more often [&:]

The Cabriolet has the look and the performance to match. Simply one of the best looking softtops ever made (incl other makes) - a timeless piece.

I couldn't agree with you more Charles.

Right, three more disparaging looks being prepared ... let me know where to send them to, chaps. (You know who you are. And George, by agreeing with Charles you are just as culpable ... !)

Hey, that's a bit harsh! I declared my favourite bit of a 944 as per the 'rules' of the thread, it's still my favourite bit, and I never said that the fact that it is one of the best looking soft tops ever made is one of my favourite bits also. So there. So, you can send your disparaging look wherever you like. I have a mirror waiting to send it straight back if it heads this way. [:D]

In the words of Clarkson "Powwwwweeeeerrrr!!!!!!" [:D]

But it is also so many different things. There is the satisfaction of knowing things I have done to the car have made it better for me.

Currently I am overawed with the new seat and roll hoop. Even the suspension seems to be working nicely again - perhaps it is a dry weather car [8|]

Utterly fair ... Charles said "The Looks and Performance to match", which makes two in my book. (Disparaging look consequently prepared.) And then you agreed!

So I'm sure you'll agree that you throughly deserve the milk-curdlingly fierce stare I am currently practicing. Oh, and mirrors don't work. 'Cos I said so. So there! >SticksTongueOutInGeorge'sGeneralDirection<

Well, I certainly like all the various things mentioned so far (power, handling, looks, etc) but in order to avoid the wrath of Oli, I will be boring and say that my favourite is the near-faultless reliability. Having just passed its MOT I have discovered that my turbo has covered a shamefully low 800 miles in the last 12 months, the vast majority of them on track. But all it needed for the MOT was a bit of tlc to encourage the handbrake to work. In 5 years the car has never once left me stranded, unlike my beautiful Alfa which had to be low-loadered back to the dealer within a couple of months of purchase (no great surprise there [:-])

yep that gets a vote from me too, thats what attracted me all those years ago when they first came out and I was driving a mini or a talbot sunbeam!!!

Apart from the dynamics already mentioned, let me add practicality.... for example, last week SWMBO and I drove 110 miles to check out an original Art Nouveau fireplace we'd located. The aim was to see it in the metal and have a nice run out.

Having decided to do the deal, I thought why pay £50 for delivery if by chance it would fit?

As luck would have it, clothed in bubble wrap, it just slotted in between the rear arches. So the saving paid for the petrol and lunch.....don't you just love your 944 [:D]
Wow, nice pickup Wolfie. That's an impressive fireplace indeed!

Yes very difficult to sum it up with many fine contenders already stated. I will go for the feeling I get when I'm going really fast uphill in sweeping curves flat out in 3rd-4th-5th. It just feels like there is very little that could keep up with me.

Well, I still disagree, and don't think the stare is justified - it is one of the best looking soft tops ever made (especially in Azure Blue), and it does have the looks and performance to match, and I still rate the feel of opening the garage door and seeing it as my favourite bit. Nevertheless, if I can survive SWMBO's vast catalogue of disapproving looks, particularly her Scowl of Disgust number 7, and her Grimace of Disagreement number 11, revision 2, then you may do your worst Sir.
